He’s got to have slicks on that shit, a normal hellcat will spin like crazy at half that launch. Take into consideration the ground they on probably hella smooth and also he has to have slicks this would be inpossible
Um I never seen a Plaid run high 9 seconds. The driver slept on the light hard probably just to give the dodge a chance and over estimated it. Even the worst driver runs 9.3 in a plaid which would destroy that car.

Honestly the plaid can beat that hellcat. It’s funny how a purpose built drag car with nitrous can barely beat a family sedan that weighs 5,000 lbs. IMO unless you’re getting a manual sports car the automatics are useless compared to electric now. I’d rather go for straight speed over an automatic shifting trans. If I want the experience manual all day.

The Redeye won fair and square, but it’s pretty obvious that if the Plaid had a better driver, it would’ve been a closer race, maybe even a different winner. Either way, that launch was clean as fuck, and that win was completely deserved.

Tesla was running regular trees all day, they changed it to a pro tree just for this race without giving the Tesla a heads up. Still wouldn't have won but that is why he was so much slower off the line.

Holy shit, that hellcat or whatever it was took off. I was blown away at how fast that thing accelerated. It looked like it completely smoked the tesla on the start. I am impressed! Reaction time isn’t counted in the ET at the drag strip. If I had to guess, the “slow” 9.9 ET was due to some sort of error with the launch control; likely user error.

End of the day a race is a race, your car, your launch, your skill is all on the line and the tesla driver and his car got thumped by the better combo on the day.
Knowing that Tesla can do low 9s in the quarter mile there's something definitely off. Either tesla gave Demon the start, let off the pedal too soon to stay below 10s, didn't set it to Plaid mode with cheetah stance, battery was below 50%, or all the above.
May not matter because some douche can deep stage on the ProTree and force him into the race quicker than expected by turning off the Prestage and stage lights and lighting the ProTree quickly. This would effectively not allow him (unless he does it before Pre-stage) to get into Cheetah Mode. Most Drag Racer games are played at the tree.

considering the plaid has a whole "cheetah stance" mode that it has to get into before it runs the drag strip thats about as fast as it can launch. there's not a ton of room for driver error when you're just pressing a go button.

Everyone’s impressed about the Tesla meanwhile what’s impressing to me is that the hellcat very heavy combustion engine managed to achieve an amazing launch and time. The Tesla is fast but it’s electric and electric is instant power. All that power at once is impressive but considering the Tesla is New school and the hellcat is older mechanics it still held up very good. That being said there's plenty of videos with plaids making low 9s. Also, I find it funny that the Mopar needed nitrous to have less than a second lead and only 3mph speed difference. Probably because Mopar produces those all bark and no bite type muscle cars that lose 30% of their power at the crank. Seems like the tesla fanboys are pointing out discrepancies in the race while you can't imagine the godly image of Mopar be tarnished by an electric vehicle even though they pretty much crap cars anyway. On a perfect run the plaid runs 9.25 but that demon driver was really good. The Tesla would need perfect conditions and a perfect launch to best that 9.37 by just 1/10th a second.
Sorry to burst your bubble but there are more powerful production cars, ofcourse they are hyper cars and supercars. The amount of torque needed to best the tesla can no longer be accomplished effectively with a regular motor. We gotta go hybrid. But teslas and hellcats still suck at anything other than a drag race

The guy is a great driver, nearly 1200 passes with various Tesla performance cars. The thing is they switched to a pro-tree and didn't tell him. Normally they're running a sportsman tree, which is what he was expecting.

@@KelleysGarageOfficial Not to say "no dodge would never win against a Plaid" but even at 20% battery the Tesla still runs in the 9,9sec, tested by Dragtimes on the street, so while conditions will interfere with performance, there is no way it would slow down it to 9,9 above 90% charge, the launch was very slow as well, it seems more likely that the guy in the Plaid was trying to arm launch control and failed, then had to go with a bad reaction time and no launch, we all know that happens, that dodge would jump ahead for sure, but that ET, no, if that plaid crossed the finish line at 9,4 or 9,6 it would be more plausible to assume the conditions where the losing factor, another thing that makes me doubt this was the conditions, is that no video has a Tesla going above 9,5 with even 80% battery when the driver is going full power, in fact there are videos where the car still does 9,9 and bellow even after braking mid quarter mile, a loss is a loss of course, just knowing what happened this race would be nice.

That was a "soft launch". My 60' was 1.41 this run, but my average is around 1.30-1.34. I was trying to take it easy so I didn't blow the tires off. 😅

Reaction time isn’t counted in the ET at the drag strip. If I had to guess, the “slow” 9.9 ET was due to some sort of error with the launch control; likely user error.

Knowing that Tesla can do low 9s in the quarter mile there's something definitely off. Either tesla gave Demon the start, let off the pedal too soon to stay below 10s, didn't set it to Plaid mode with cheetah stance, battery was below 50%, or all the above.
May not matter because some douche can deep stage on the ProTree and force him into the race quicker than expected by turning off the Prestage and stage lights and lighting the ProTree quickly. This would effectively not allow him (unless he does it before Pre-stage) to get into Cheetah Mode. Most Drag Racer games are played at the tree.

considering the plaid has a whole "cheetah stance" mode that it has to get into before it runs the drag strip thats about as fast as it can launch. there's not a ton of room for driver error when you're just pressing a go button.

Everyone’s impressed about the Tesla meanwhile what’s impressing to me is that the hellcat very heavy combustion engine managed to achieve an amazing launch and time. The Tesla is fast but it’s electric and electric is instant power. All that power at once is impressive but considering the Tesla is New school and the hellcat is older mechanics it still held up very good. Now they need to make strictly electric classes with all the new electric cars and performance variants coming out. It’s only gonna get faster and faster 😱

I would never buy a tesla although as a car guy I'm very interested in any innovation made within the market. That being said there's plenty of videos with plaids making low 9s. Also, I find it funny that the Mopar needed nitrous to have less than a second lead and only 3mph speed difference. Probably because Mopar produces those all bark and no bite type muscle cars that lose 30% of their power at the crank. Seems like the tesla fanboys are pointing out discrepancies in the race while you can't imagine the godly image of Mopar be tarnished by an electric vehicle even though they pretty much crap cars anyway. I do like their trucks though so I'll give them that.

@@KelleysGarageOfficial Not to say "no dodge would never win against a Plaid" but even at 20% battery the Tesla still runs in the 9,9sec, tested by Dragtimes on the street, so while conditions will interfere with performance, there is no way it would slow down it to 9,9 above 90% charge, the launch was very slow as well, it seems more likely that the guy in the Plaid was trying to arm launch control and failed, then had to go with a bad reaction time and no launch, we all know that happens, that dodge would jump ahead for sure, but that ET, no, if that plaid crossed the finish line at 9,4 or 9,6 it would be more plausible to assume the conditions where the losing factor, another thing that makes me doubt this was the conditions, is that no video has a Tesla going above 9,5 with even 80% battery when the driver is going full power, in fact there are videos where the car still does 9,9 and bellow even after braking mid quarter mile, a loss is a loss of course, just knowing what happened this race would be nice.
