    In the last few months I have radically changed my views on what I want to do and be in life. As a female teen I would never have wanted to be a stay-at-home mum. The lie we are told is that in order to be a successful, happy, fulfilled woman you need to be out there doing what the men do, climbing the corporate ladder. I now see that is a lie. Women were made to do the immensely important job that nobody else can do - home-building, nurturing and fruitfulness. Our whole bodies are built to create another human being and raise it. That is not a second-rate job. It takes hard work to do it well, and it is just as valuable, fulfilling and rewarding as working outside of the home, if not more. When done well it is world-changing.

It's hard because many of my friends are single but would like to be married, it's just a much more confused world and getting married and having kids young (in your 20s) is a bit harder. The dollar being worth half as much motivated women to work to maintain the standard of living. Price inflation in the ‘70s was a bitch. Value of labor is not directly tied to supply, as not all jobs are paid the same. The value of labor is impacted by supply, but also by demand. We have a global shortage of doctors right now. We could double the supply of doctors, and still see doctors getting paid more over time than they are today.

      I wouldn't call that getting "owned". I've often held beliefs that, upon reflection, or had explained to me in a way I hadn't considered before, decided were wrong. That's just being human. Just because you teach a course at a college doesn't make you infallible. I actually have more respect for Peterson now than if he'd have stubbornly stuck to his earlier belief.
      And what do you mean by "outflanked by a stand-up comedian on a basic issue"? Are you saying stand up comics are idiots? And I'd hardly call it a basic issue. It's understanding the distinction between what is morally good/bad behavior vs. what is right/wrong behavior imposed by law/force.

      Soldiers and police officers are examples of true heroes, not a man who talks and talks. Jordan Peterson is smart as hell with his high IQ, but he's just a thinker, not a man who takes action. Look at the people who served and currently served in the military and law enforcement. Most don't have special degrees or high intelligence, they just work hard and hope for the best their actions made or make a difference. Their are no guarantees of success in life. Jordan Peterson "thinks" he knows best, but words don't win wars or end bad people, action does.

      See, youtube threads like this prove a lot of what Peterson says. That underlying ostensibly peaceful, rational debate between men is the primal urge to destroy or dominate the opponent via raw physical violence. The level of hatred--and I fall victim to it myself often--that can be conjured up in online sociopolitical disagreements is the kind that can really only be satisfied by paleolithic club-wielding. But in absence of melee weaponry and physical proximity we resort to the most spiteful, venomous name-calling we can possibly muster. The word needs to be spread: the current state of division in the western world is due to PEOPLE CONFLATING THE VERY CORE OF THEIR BEING WITH THEIR POLITICAL VIEWPOINTS. It is on the left and the right in equal measure, and if it doesn't stop the future can only be chaos. "If a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand."

    Life is too precious to be lived without God, love and companionship. We were never meant to be alone. We were never meant to dedicate our lives to something, versus someone. Peterson is right, women, for the most part, need babies. Men need women, women need men. All the subtleties of that are what form the crucial relationship. Porn will tell you that women should be ground beneath a man's foot, but the opposite of porn is Jesus Christ, who said "Husbands, love your wives." Promiscuity doesn't lead to freedom, it leads to solitude. How can a woman who has had sex with a multitude of men ever bond with just one? She is left, after the youth has faded, with no man, no children, and sadly, no desirability. Even wealth is cold and lonely. I was lousy at being a manager of people because I hated being the asshole that I had to be. I'd rather do it myself than boss other people. 31 years ago I did the smartest thing I ever did, I married my wife. And like the path less taken, that made all the difference. The only thing really worth competing over is life. Fight for life or death, all else is posing. Victory may be had with either event. You see, sometimes you have to choose your own reality; God or godless. Life or death. Love or whatever its opposite is. But choose something and choose with wisdom. A woman is not less than a man, just different. A good one is worth the choosing.

      My gf and I actually get paid the same, but it's because I didn't want my owner's draw to be taxed at 39.6% + state bullshit.
      So we shave around 10% off the taxes while doubling the household income by listing her as an employee of the company.
      Poor people argue over gender, rich people are too busy doing real shit to care.

      AgeofMachines He’s a brilliant guy, but he’s off on why wages are flat. He attributes it all to population growth, but the truth is, so many jobs are just plain not here anymore. They’ve been automated and outsourced...entire industries have flooded out of the country to take advantage of near slave labor. Hell, we outsource to prisoners in our own country for slave wages. Today, the top employer in the country is Wal-Mart, which has taken full advantage of foreign slave labor, along with most corporations...allowing them to be so cheap, when one opens, other businesses in the area have to close. We’’ve also been bombarded with foreigners into the country through legal and illegal immigration, and work Visas. This, while many more women enter the workforce. 50 years ago, most women stayed home with the kids. Feminists convinced them they were getting screwed, and now most work, creating a much higher percentage of the population taking jobs, and dramatically increasing the labor supply. Add to that, political corruption, decline of unions, and people living and working longer...it’s not as simple as he says, it’s not pretty, and it’s getting worse.

      @chubbytroll5321 Před 6 lety +9

      It's not just the stagnant wages that have contributed to the decline of single-income families. Since the US ended the gold-standard in 1971, the value of the dollar has depreciated immensely. Gold used to trade at $38/oz. By the 1980's, it went as high as $800+/oz. As the Federal Reserve continues to print money out of thin air, the price of everything has increased. Food, housing, healthcare, education, etc.
      By the 1980's to the current time, I'm sure many 2-income families have gone from prosperous-to-struggling. Who watches the kids when both parents are working to put food on the table, and a roof over their heads? Who is there to be a positive role-model? Worst still, if the parents are separated. Of those kids who grew up in broken homes from the 1990's, up to today, how many of them end up negative and nihilistic? Isn't it harder to be a productive alpha-type, if there is no no alpha-type there to lead and live by example?
      And on the other end, you have people like Elon Musk, who seem to be accurate examples of the first half of the lecture. The guy works over 100+ hours to see the success of Space X, Tesla Motors, not to mention side projects like Solar City, The Boring Company, and Hyper Loop. With that much time dedicated to work, I can imagine what little time he has left for his kids, as well as what was allocated left over for his two ex-wives, and ex Amber Heard.

      Yeah I see the automation/AI/tech surge all day. Other than my dad, Peterson crisply identified my own dilemma in terms of my work/life balance and style.
      Often the "relationships" as defined today do not benefit men. They only serve to reinforce someone else's agenda or worse use others to appear normal (trophy wife anyone?). Guys need the basic things they've always needed yet we live in an age where that is being hotly contested and redefined by people who will never be men. Emotional needs of men aren't met in romantic relationships as they resemble college hazing rituals constantly berating men and putting them on the defensive for being men. How royally unfulfilling. The men in doctor Peterson's speech are not relationship averse. They just see relationships like any other pursuit, weigh the costs and benefits, see next to no benefit and choose to skip the relationship. Lets not forget the parasitic variety of this where the man is picked precisely because he shows potential as a hard worker but once together is berated for working.
      H1 Visas here are only part of the story. Many US companies here have identical footprints in China and India so this notion of a whiteanglo American company running everything is super comical if not delusional on levels.
      Add the extra dimension of Indian companies hiring us born workers and the lines blur further.
      Add the idea of more women working while the erosion of decorum between genders intensifies the pressures men face. Work 80 hours a week and get #metoo'd right out the very office that he's dedicated his life to - even if the accusations are false. Curriculum isn't playing to or developing male strengths in schools. Weak or absent men in the home and combined with men that are never fully developed to their full potential and Dr Peterson's speech takes on a starkly somber outlook.

      In science we call that a 0 evidence, likely a lie, of a case study. Who the fuck cares what he saw, its not statistically relevant and its prone to confirmation bias, maybe if you pseudo-intellectuals pulled your heads outta Jordan's ass you could notice.

    • @daniel96jg
      @daniel96jg Před 6 lety +1

      Mims Zanadunstedt OFC it is not statistically relevant, but let's put it like that: a highly intelligent psychology professor is likely to make qualitatively admissible empirical observations. If you don't see the value in that and take it with a certain measure of belief, then you have literally no idea what research science etc. Is about.

    That's a very interesting point about the devaluation of wage earners when they double, meaning both men and women, twice the workers equals half the pay hypothetically. supply and demand in a way ive never thought of. If a stock is valued as such, double the amount of stock and its value is cut in half.
