This was back in like 06. The thing about Philly is they’re infamous for booing and shunning, comedians, sports, anything. They take their city very seriously. Bill Burr was with a bunch of comedians, a lot of well known ones too and the crowd was booing them off one by one, they even booed Tracy Morgan and comics who were from Philly as well. Bill Burr just SNAPPED, the booing was as loud as the cheering but at the end he won them over at the same time. This was the moment that cemented Bill names as a legend.
He listened to them boo everyone for three hours from backstage before he went on. "Boo Dom Irrera? fuck you people."
Bill said that not everyone got booed off. Tracey was actually having a decent set but felt the crowd pulling back so he walked off Mid joke
this show was in camden nj bill never won the crowd over. they held it in camden so philly nyc and baltimore fans could all get in, multiple philly fans were brought out on stretchers this night. philly sucks dick

I'm from Philly. I have friends who went to that show (was actually in south Jersey right over the bridge). The crowd was drunk and were booing all the comedians. They booed a well respected Philly comedian named Dom Irerra who Bill likes a lot, so Bill got up there and they started booing him and he let them have it. By the time he was done they gave him a standing ovation.

No it's not rehearsed. He comes up with things from the top of his head quicker than anyone I have ever seen. Also, all of the material in his stand up has always been his own, and he never writes any of it down. He memorizes everything. trippy

A lot of the crowd was from NY and NJ, which is why you hear a lot of cheering when he's shitting on Philly, especially their sports teams.
When asked about it later, Bill Burr said his only regret was not talking shit about the 76ers.
Yiur wrong it was south jersey and everybody is Philly fans in south jersey and they started cheering because they like people who have balls

Bill thought when he left the stage that he had destroyed his career with this rant and most comedians probably would have never came back from this but Bill is not most comedians. He's since admitted that he's not proud of how he handled the crowd that day but it's the stuff of legends as far as i'm concerned.

He was counting down the time because many of the comedians couldn't take it so Burr wanted to let them know not only will he stay on stage the whole time but he will get paid as well. LEGENDARY BURR 😂
That's pretty much exactly how it went down. This happened at a comedy tour with a TON of comedians and for like 3 hours Bill was watching all of his comedian buddies just get boo'd off the stage. So when it came to Bill's turn, and at this point in his career he's trying to break through to the top, he was like "I ain't gonna put up with them booing my ass".
This is what happens when you get a beast on savage mode and he has had enough. This meltdown was amazing and legendary. He's told the story many times and the crowd just was awful and booed most of the comics before him. None of it was prepared, He tried doing his act and once he knew they didn't care he just snapped. The thing about Billy is that he is a sports fan so he knew where to hit them where it hurts.

Apparently Patrice O Neal was in the audience at that time and was intentionally trying to rile up Bill even more 😂😂😂

Patrice and Bill had recently had their fight on O&A a few weeks prior to this, they were still not talking to each other, but Patrice tried to help by bringing up Vincent Papale (some dude off of the street that walked up to the eagles and made starting line up) to the DJ that's why that dude interrupted Bill.. if you listen he says "Patricr told me.."
He was in the wings for a few hours waiting to go on, listening to the crowd boo and disrespect some every comic before him. Many of them were big names. He Had Enough.... and went off.
That's a Billy GOAT hug. He received a standing ovation for that!

He's just that good. Because he came up sitting at the comedian's table at the cellar, where the comedians would just destroy each other. So they all got great at mouthing.
I love how he ends most of his shows with "Listen, im out of time. You guys were awesome." and here he goes like "Listen, im out of time. You guys ... you guys were here, man" XD
The best part of his rant is he counted it down while he was just ripping into everything, even stuff that makes no sense. That’s why I love Bill Burr. He takes no shit from anyone, not even his sponsors. He shits on them constantly.

LEGENDARY!!!!! The most amazing shit I've ever seen in comedy. The three pounds of brains in the ENTIRE crowd (of hundreds) and the ,"go back to the dock and unload some shit," made me nearly choke to death.

Nah Patrice was trying to give him more ammo to talk about... when someone interrupted Bill, it was a backstage crew trying to deliver Patrice’s message to him but Bill was too deep in the battle zone that he couldn’t hear the crew member properly and just scolded the poor guy lmaooo Bill talked about this in one of his podcasts

There’s no other comedian who could insult an entire audience for a whole 12 minutes and by the end of the set get a standing ovation.
I’m sure after years of touring Philly, Burr probably had those insults in the back-burner . But to get up there and just let loose with a machine gun tirade for 12 minutes straight shows a level of awareness and skill I don’t think any other comedian could pull off.

Tracy Morgan got so heavily booed at,that he didnt even finish his minutes he had on stage. That is when it triggered Bill,he promsied himself he would go out there and finish the time he had to perform,and he was gonna count down each minute to them vocally. And like he said in a different interview,the moment he walked out there and they booed him too,Bill just unleashed himself on the crowd,attacked everything they loved and tore it apart. He is the first standup comedian i have heard of,that actually turned a crowd around like that.
