Once in awhile you come across a couple that gets it. They're a team. A couple of idiots and we are all jealous. A sense of humor goes a long way.

No I fully understand Bill's background and why he is the way he is. I'm much younger, but I grew up in the mid 80's through the 90's and although my parents were great parents, they also raised me to not make a big deal out of getting hurt unless it was really severe, and that crying wasn't something you did unless it was a severe situation (a loved one dying or something like that, for example). Obviously there are times when you can't help it, but the whole point was to basically not milk it and get over it as fast as possible.
Basically, crying cause you didn't get your way, or because you fell down and scraped your knee or something was not really acceptable and they wouldn't feed into that at all. You'd get an "are you okay? What happened?" and if it wasn't serious and required medical attention, they'd move on. I got hit by a car whilst on my bike one day (clipped more like, but it still knocked me off) and had rashes and a few bruises on my thigh and side, and when I got home it was basically "What happened? Where are you hurt? That's not that bad, you'll live." and that was it lol.
Eeeexactly! Each generation IS usually tougher then the next, unless there is a period of intense war oing on to disrupt the peaceful and blissful times. Its just science.

I grew up in Bill's era , its not about being tuffer than others , but we were outside on our own all the time....I remember my father telling me if i ever got my foot stuck on railway tracks , meaning the track changer...just lean back it will take your foot but at least you will live , that was his way of saying stay off the train tracks...lol

Once our washer broke down, and we sent it out for repair. While cleaning the utility room floor where it was sitting, I stood up and crowned myself on the cabinet above me. My eyes rolled back and I went down. I spent the next half hour giving myself concussion tests. A lot of blood, but no real damage. Thank God nobody saw it.

Oh man that burn brought back memories. A few years ago I came home late from work I had to cook wild and make spaghetti but I only have one pot it was a super huge pot. And I went to strained the boiling hot water from the noodles and the whole pot spilled on my legs. I yelled out I had like a football size bubble that immediately popped up and then it burst. then got infected and went to the hospital couple days later. The worst part of that experience was the healing and the cleaning up of the burn. I had to scrub it every morning. when skin is growing back it hurts like shit
I was hit by a car on my bike at 15 and flew ass over elbows all the way across the intersection with a fairly lucky landing on the pavement. No hospital at all. I was ok. My bike was taco shaped, though. I'm Bill's age and we were, in fact tougher. We went out, explored and got hurt

When I was like 10 I got hit in the head with a golf club, my friend swung it at an apple on the street and missed it, I caught the end of the swing to the side of my head, knocked me out cold. When I woke up I was lay on my sofa with a bag of frozen peas on my head and my mother just said “don’t look in the mirror, drink some water and go back to sleep” 😂 she was crying cause the swelling disfigured my face, so I never looked at it myself, no hospital neither 😩 no mirrors for a whole week! 😂

If a burn injury doesn't hurt, it may have burned the nerve endings. That injury should've been treated by a doctor, but it is easy for me to say coming from a place with universal healthcare. If it is numb to touch now, the nerve endings are gone for good.
