Silver deserved better. He's my all time favourite Sonic character, and i wished he had gotten a better introduction game
Plus silver is kinda around for no reason now in games since he's from the future and only went to past to change the future and also isn't having silver a person from the future going to butterfly effect the future of the world.
I’ll be honest, I always thought he was an annoying character shoehorned into the series. He should’ve served his purpose in one game and that’s it.

The IDW comics actually go into this, and the long and short of it is he believes everyone deserves a chance for redemption, and if they use that to continue being evil, he'll always be there to kick their ass over and over again.
Yes, characters call him out on it and it does come back to bite him repeatedly, but heroes must have their flaws.
Honestly, the thing that makes that philosophy makes sense, is that he's not against imprisonment (he just doesn't think of it as the immediate option) and his forgiving nature has served him and the world well before. So there is precedent.
And for the opposite, why doesn't Eggman just kill Sonic, that's gone over as well. He very easily could if he truly wanted to but he wants to prove that he is superior to Sonic.

Yeah, this isn't a good timeline... they left out a bunch of games for some reason.
EDIT: Here's a quick list of all the major games they left out
- SegaSonic the Hedgehog (widely theorized to be the first game in the timeline)

Yeah, there are some games that are questionably canon like secret rings and black knight, but cd, advanced, and mania should all have been there

When Chaos' form is basically that of a gigantic biological cell
there's a couple of details that didn't get included in this timeline. Here's a few:
Sonic CD is... a weird game to not include given it's the first appearance of Amy and Metal Sonic on top of now officially taking place between Sonic 1 and 2.
The GBA games are the most confusing of the bunch. While Advance 1 and 2 could happen just fine (on top of 2 being Cream's first game), Advance 3 is a direct sequel to Sonic Battle. Said game features a Shadow that has no amnesia and has embraced his past as Gerald's creation. My guess is that the timeline splits before converging in 06.
Speaking of 06, despite the disappearing of Solaris, there is some evidence in later games that it wasn't a full reset. Notably, Blaze remembers Crisis City.
The Rivals games reveal that a different version of Iblis now known as Ifrit still exists and that Eggman had a descendant known as Eggman Nega (formerly said to be from an alternate dimension in the Rush games), who became evil because the Robotnik name got sullied by Eggman's many failures, which caused him to be looked down by others. He gets called out by Shadow, who says that's just an excuse (and given Eggman was still evil even after looking up to Gerald, he's not wrong).
And also the handheld version of Sonic 2 which takes place before the console version and is the first appearance of Mecha-Sonic and Tails.
Personally I think the reason why Blaze remembers crisis city is because she was sent to another dimension before the timeline being reset, thus meaning that she would be immune to any changes that happens in sonics world
@@FierceDIO Actually 8-bit Robot Sonic is Silver Sonic. the 16-bit one is called Robo-Sonic according to LEGO Dimensions, and since that was his latest appearence, we have to count that as his new name. Mecha is still the one from 3&K
Also, if Pat has not seen SnapCube’s Sonic dubs in whole, (he made a “piss on the moon” reference, but that joke went viral on its own) then here’s my petition for him to watch them.
Edit: Thinking about it more, if Pat would want to dip his toes in first, then he should watch one of the abundant compilations of the RTFD Sonic series to check if their humor aligns.

This timeline is incorrect. Sonic CD is between Sonic & and Sonic 2. If it wasn't already obvious by the fact that it was before sonic and tails were friends, it should be because Sonic Origins doubles down on this by placing Sonic CD between Sonic 1 & 2 with an animated cutscene of Sonic saving Tails from the other foxes who were bullying him for having two tails and learning to spin his tails in order to catch up to Sonic.

A little late to answer, but I have pondered this myself. Aside from “it’s a franchise” reasoning, The reason sonic doesn’t just kill Eggman, it’s because Eggman doesn’t needlessly kill or slaughter, Sonic and friends are constantly at odds with Eggman and his robots so the only times Eggman “kills” is when someone opposing him dies to one of his traps or mechs.
Sonic even Has a line in sonic adventure 2 is response to the gravity of a threat Eggman makes.
Sonic only kills, when it’s absolutely necessary.
Fun fact about Forces, Super Sonic was for once finally not part of the finale because Super Sonic mode was dlc…I’m not joking…
Super Sonic wasn't present in the final battle of Lost World either.

I can't believe it, a Sonic video from a non Sonictuber that doesn't excessively mock the series. They also did a pretty good job summarizing the plots of the games discussed in this video (even though I think you could argue for a few games they left out being canon).
Another thing, Sonic Mania and/or the Sonic Mania Adventures mini series take place directly after Sonic Forces.
Seeing the classic Sonic we see in the animation appear out of a "Phantom Ruby bubble" thing with the same pose he made when disappearing at the end of Forces.

Now the game? It honestly COULD take place before, but I don't, and not sure if anyone else, has any evidence for that.

To answer your questions
The reason Sonic doesn't kill Eggman is because Eggman is really his only source of entertainment and would be bored if he wasn't around
Eggman gets most of his funds from the casino's he runs as well as selling inventions he made as a boy
Super Sonic was originally going to appear in Sonic 1 with a different design but due to constraints he was scrapped, then in Sonic 2 when he first appeared the creator based his design off Super Saiyan as a homage since he was a huge Dragon Ball fan
While Chaos did take some inspiration from Cell, he was mainly based off the real-life organism known as Chaos Genus
Contrary to popular belief Shadows design is most likely based off a mural depicting Super Sonic instead of Vegeta
Rouge was made to be a rival to Knuckles, her design was to show a more feminine appearance to bounce off of Knuckles fear of women (He's canonically shy)
Sonic Adventure 2 was originally supposed to be the last Sonic game
It's not known if the Shadow the Hedgehog game is canon
The Chaotix actually first debuted in the Knuckles spinoff game "Knuckles Chaotix" as friends of Knuckles
Tails and Knuckles do actually *kinda* have their own super forms in the classic games, Tails fur gets slightly brighter while Knuckles turns pink
Sonic 06 was meant to be a reboot for the franchise
In 06 Silvers file mentions Trunks saying that he was heavily inspired by the character

Sonic 06 was not meant to be a reboot. That's a misinterpreted line from a developer interview that likened it to Batman Arkham Origins (which is why people thought it was reboot) and Spider-Man 2 (which is why it's NOT a reboot). It's actually just meant to be a massive blockbuster story, and you can clearly tell that despite how bad the game itself ended up being, the ambition is very much still there in the released product.

Sonic Forces basically wrote in that Classic Sonic and Modern Sonic are from different dimensions and not different points in time. The way Classic comes to Forces after his story in Mania, too, supports the two timelines.

theres only one timeline by the way, the japanese version of forces uses a word that can mean "dimension" as it was translated in the west but is actually closer to "another place" or "another world" in a broad sense
Fun fact: the reason the whole "sonic is confused to be shadow" thing is because, originally, there was going to be a character that looked similar to sonic, taking shadows spot in the story. Buuut they scraped that character and used shadow instead, and for some reason keeping the whole "confuse the two characters as the same person" plot in the original plot even though it doesn't make sense now with shadow taking the scrapped characters place

The reason sega got away with ripping off super Saiyan is because after sonic 1, sonic team split. Half formed sonic team Japan to work on sonic CD while half formed sonic team USA to develop sonic 2. DBZ hadn’t really gained fame in the US yet, so they used the idea and got away with it.
Just wait until you get into the idw comics. Eggman created a virus that turns everyone into zombie robots, and nearly everyone, including sonic, is infected.
In the old sonic comics it's said that eggman is actually playing with sonic but can actually destroy sonic at any time eggman wants

Eggman survived his death star rippoff blowing up while inside a Giant robot (which is also blowing up seperate to the death star rippoff) falling into orbit, crash landed into an active volcano, and not a single scratch on him (note that all that happened in the same game, in that exact order, back to back)

I just realized something now that I'm much more knowledgeable about Sonic lore.
Sonic Forces could have the resistance be the Freedom Fighters. We could've had Sally since she did appear in a Sonic game once.
This would've been great fanservice (better than allowing you to have your OC in the game) if the writing was good.

To the question of murdering Robotnik, it's simple: Kintobor, Robotnik before the Chaos Emeralds corrupted him, was a father figure to Sonic. There's probably some emotional baggage attached to that.

As someone who found Shadow a boring and unnecessarily edgy character, I love his story and ended up having a complete change of heart. His game is the pinnacle of all of that. Or should I say All of Me?

The Sonic timeline is indeed true. However it’s so inconsistent, like with the moon exploding. The 2D games make it hard to pin down as well. Like we know Sonic Advance 2 is before Sonic Heroes and Sonic Advance 3 is after Sonic Battle but how does Silver know Blaze when she’s from another dimension from Sonic’s time as shown in Sonic Rush? Thanks to Sonic Rivals his meeting with Sonic in Sonic 2006 never happened so they just retconned that whole game from existence but Sonic 2006 still *shows up later in Sonic Generations!* It’s crazy.
