I am changing the raw water hoses on a Grand Banks 36. These are the hoses that cool the diesel engine. This is step by step no steps skipped.

I did this to my boat last year. Changed all drain and seacock hoses in some unbelievably tight places. This job is never fun, but the peace of mind it gives you is worth the work. To make it easy to slip the hoses on the fittings grab some megaloc pipe joint compound from Home Depot and smear some on the inside of each hose end. They slide right on like butter. The megaloc is compatible with just about any fluid or material. Not only will it help seal the clamped connection, it will slide right off if you need to reposition the hose or just remove it.

Thanks for the great tip. I plan to change all of the hoses. I will be getting some for these hard to put on hoses. Thanks for watching and commenting. Stay Safe.

You would think that on a boat the tube on the water pump would be long enough to clear the belt so it can’t rub a hole in the hose oh well you fixed it nice boat great video

It should have the date printed on the hose too when it was manufactured.

You are right, I was just marking down the install date. I guess that a 20 year hose is still 20 years old even if it is only installed for a week.

I think green means raw water and blue means fresh water. (Anti freeze)

I will say that when I was looking for hose it is not clear. I thought Green was hard wall and blue was soft. I don't know for sure.

@@OmFishing I'll have to look at the engine on my boat. I know they color coordinated it with both hose color and those clamp end protectors if I remember right.

@@OmFishing I'm pretty sure it's the same shit with a coiled wire inside. It's just colored to help you chase hoses.
