You were fearfully and wonderfully created by the Living God in His image to live forever. Do not dare to compare yourself with any lifeless thing that appears and disappears. Every human being is twice belongs to God the Father, as He not only created us but also carried us our sins and died in our place when we disobeyed and dishonoured Him, so that we may live with Him forever. They were even better live! He played to me and a friend, we went to behind stage seats that they didn't open, because then Van Halen toted these massive speakers and stacked them almost to the ceiling. We looked into his eyes and watched his fingers fly, it was awesome and the same night David was jumping higher than we ever saw anyone with leather pants jump, all the while with swords in each hand! Not to mention David's acoustic version of Ice Cream Man was terrific as well. They said Eddie didn't sing, but We saw him singing on Jamie's Cryin.

Limey Lemon so while I don’t agree with this man in that this is not a solo because it’s amazing, I feel as though even if one cannot do something they still have an opinion over wether or not the person who’s good at it is doing it well if you get what I’m trying to say. Like others can watch people that lay professionally in the nfl and have negative opinions on them, doesn’t mean that they need to be able to equate to the same level of skill.
Eddie broke Every rule in guitar playing and still ended up being the best guitar legend ever. Rest easy ed 💔
Eddie never claimed he invented tapping. There were other guitar players who performed the tapping way before Eddie did it.
It's just that Eddie performed tapping that no one has ever done before: on the electric guitar.

I’ve watched this video over 100 times. I don’t think I’ve EVER seen a guitar solo this amazing. Greatest guitarist of all time don’t argue w me. You can tell besides the few snippets he’s taking from his songs he’s just messing around havin a good time like playing in ur basement when nobody is watching and he’s making breathtaking music. Like there’s no way he rehearsed this. This is guitar on expert expert expert difficulty and he does it effortlessly and flawlessly. What makes this even better than it already is is, back then, the internet didn’t exist. This wasn’t even written in music books. He made ALL of this himself. It’s absolutely unbelievable
jimi hendrix
I got to agree with you my friend. I've seen them so many times live myself. I live in South Florida. Every time I see any play now it's like I cry like a little baby. Can't help it. I'm 57 years old. I love Van Halen. They came out 10 February 1978. Actually before that they were Mammoth 1972. So you know it is what it is. They changed their name right before they had their first album. David Lee Roth went to Eddie and told him to change the name to Van Halen so they did. The rest is history you don't. He's so mesmerizing to watch on that guitar. You can't take your eyes off of him. You actually just cry because he's so great.. in happy tears! Well I'm not religious but I guess Eddie is playing for God now. What can I say the world's lost and unbelievable guy and guitars the best in the world besides Hendrix rock on people

Jeff Davis dope
I still remember hearing an interview with Alice Cooper (I think it was him) talking about seeing Van Halen when they were first starting out on the Strip. He said he vividly remembers being in a club with like 10 people in it and seeing these guys all play like they were in front of 10,000 people. He said Roth was jumping around on stage, doing his karate kicks and belting out "aint talking bout love" and Eddie was just shredding the guitar parts and doing his thing. He just said he was so blown away by their energy he knew right away, if they were playing like this in front less than a dozen people with this energy, they were going to make it, no problem. Even then, he knew Eddie was special and everybody in the bar was just mesmerized by his playing.
I can braggingly say that I met the entire band and had the pleasure of seeing Michael Anthony's pad in glendora ca. As soon as I walked into the main door after the outdoor foyer, saw all the dope albums that lined the wall of all the Van Halen albums from 1986 onwards. I knew well enough about Van Halen, but to be meeting Michael Anthony and hearing his stories while my dad and another co worker did the Landscape. Dude the stories I could tell from Michael Anthony's mouth to my ears. As far as Eddie goes, he was in his own realm once he picked up his signature guitar. The guitar riffs and solos are beyond comprehensive. You just have to see it to believe it, like right here. VAN HALEN FAN FOR LIFE TIL THE DAY I DIE. BAR NONE

I remember watching this 10 years ago when I was young and just starting to learn guitar. Finally after all these years I still can't play it.
I spend 1.6 years playing my guitar (during lockdown) and another 2 vigorous years in my youth - with a 6-8 year hiatus before I picked it up recently again (1.6 year ago) and I'm just learning to tackle this beast of a monster. There is quiet an exceptional tutorial online by a guy called Mr. Tabs - I highly recommend you check his videos "Eruption Van Halen Cover | Guitar Tab | Lesson | Tutorial" It's quiet outstanding how accurately this man can play to EvH (and MANY of his other songs) I literally feel like he's channeling the spirit of Eddy when he plays (not to sound too much like a fanboy but he's quiet amazing). I'm practicing this song again (since I could play it but with horrific misaccuracy -- trying to figure out the pieces of the puzzle myself) but after giviing it a go again it really shows me what a freakin genius of a guitar player Eddie was and how respectable he IS in the guitar world because he too me won't ever die. Van Halen will always be around and we will always remember how he and the band changed the face of rock and roll history. 🤘🤘😁😁!!

One of there best ever in my opinion van halen never really sounded all that great live..... but here they killed it
We are so fortunate that filmographers had the presence of mind in the day to capture shows like this. Many of us who attended the shows took them for granted and had no idea what we were witnessing - one of the most revolutionary guitarists to hit the planet, but that he was indeed mortal.
They covered it in the genovea convention as a war crime not to capture this concert on film

art peasant+ I agree. How he's able to do that I have no idea. Before I shattered my left wrist, I would get 2 beers in me and I lose my ability to move my fingers fast enough and with lots of mistakes. MY buddy who was a REALLY good guitar player (could play the album version of Eruption among a ton of other songs) and could play just as well after a 12 pack of beer!! Kinda pissed me off that I couldn't do the same, but I'm not even close to how good my buddy (and OFC Eddie) could play. The 2 hardest songs (for me) I could play were, "Over the Hills and Far Far Away" and "Rain Song" from Led Zeppelin and "Ain't talking about Love" by Van Halen". I could still play them if I hadn't shattered my right wrist so bad the Drs were going to amputate it. I still have my hand but lost my range of rotation of my wrist, so it's difficult at best to even play a single chord now and that REALLY SUCKS!!! At least I still can play my "Digital Piano" with an Old School MIDI hooked up to it. So I've got that going for me. LOL.. Rock On!!!!! ;)

I wish I could go back and spend a day with Eddie. That would honestly mean the world to me. He was the guy that made me pick up a guitar. Forever you will be remembered. Edward Van Halen. An absolute master at guitar. And He is the greatest guitarist to ever live period.
Therapist: Where did he touch you?
Guitar: Everywhere.... and I liked it!

Eddie is dearly missed but his legacy lives on forever. Rip Eddie!
I lost my husband 8 years ago. He once told me Eddie was the greatest guitar player on Earth. I have a feeling he is pretty well jazzed listening to Eddie strum those strings now. RIP Eddie and my Dean.
Sorry to hear that. Hopefully, they both are in a better place now.

do you think the people in the crowd realized they were witnessing one of the greatest concerts in human history?
I will go back to the past just to go to that concert infinite times just to witness that moment 🙏🏻
Of course. How could they not.
Yep!!
I feel like a lot of them were just enjoying the moment. Something we should be doing so much more of today.
Yes we did ...New Haven Coliseum CT !!!...The Coliseum has been gone for years and now EVH is too ....What a shame ...But what a time it was !!!
Rest in peace Eddie. The best there ever was, the best that ever will be.

It’s Sammy’s favourite part of the whole show after all
If you look back when David Lee Roth was lead for Van Halen, Eddie would make the guitar talk. It would actually mimic words that David was singing. We loved it ❤!
