  • Stig Åvall Severinsen was the first person to hold his breath for more than 20 minutes under water, a Guinness World Record. He believes that controlling our breath means controlling our lives.
    About TEDx, x = independently organized event:
    In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

    The information about how he can hold his breath that long or he can leave his body and watching is out of my knowledge or even out of this world omg this is unbelievable ❤️

    Awesome story, a little uneven on the presentation but it should not matter; this guy is the real deal; Severinsen and Wim Hof should get together and compare notes

    he sure is the real deal. he achieves the extremes of current human capacity--both physical and mental capacities--and then teaches his medicinal method to help others achieve. its like a heart doctor inducing a heart attack on him or herself to better treat patients.

      You can increae your muscle cells abilities to relax by breath holding, get his book, and start doing some of these excersises, then you will be able to work with it slowly. Also do cold showers and ice baths in weekly challenges, go with Wim Hof for this :)

    Good Tedx but the speaker "forgot" to explain that he's been actually breathing pure oxygen before the attempt.(that is what allows the athlete to hold his breath for so long.)
    There's another category of world record attempts for static apnea in a natural way, (without breathing pure oxygen before) and the time is around 11 minutes.
    I think it would have been fair and honest to mention it, for the majority of the people who are not familiar with apnea and freediving.
    Obviously doesn't mean he's not a good freediver/speaker.

      Breathing 100%02 @ 1.4 bar =13 feet/4 meters of depth. Assuming he is saturated, explains why he does this shallow.
      Deeper = 02 toxicity

    What he is doing is Yoga ...he also mentioned it in the video. Why this is a magic? Because by mastering our breath and breath hold (kumbhak) we are able to activate certain areas in brain that raises the overall consciousness to many folds... and trust me great health, youth, sharper memory, longevity all of it is a by-product of a yogic life. So start your journey to divinity explore Yoga.

    Yes all Great, but nothing was transferred to the lay person. Nothing. I do not mean to be rude, but these self help releases and motivational talks are pure entertainment and do not do much for us. The people who do the stuff, are not in the audience. They are on the stage. I came here because I watched several free diving videos and have been working to get people breathe better. Not much happens. They come to the course or workshop, are happy to try some excersize and go home. I am sure I will not break his record but I just might end up in the water with sharks. Do great things instead and do not just watch other people do it.
    Have a nice day :)
