You had 20 rounds of ammo in your bag. How do you not notice that as you are packing, unless you were trying to conceal it?
It could have been in an outer pocket
What threat does 20 rounds of ammo create? The US state dept should get involved but they won't, they hate your American rights and they side with totalitarian regimes like the one in the T&C. It's that simple.
He used the bag to go hunting months ago and didn't realize it as in there.
He hurt NO ONE!
But these tyrants lack the mental capacity nor common sense to see that this was a mistake.
These government agents who charged them are idiots!
@@courtkuykendallyou mean the outer pocket that is the easiest place to clean out before you travel? I fly monthly and have never packed without cleaning out my suitcase first. If they had worked their way into the lining of the bag I’d understand, but an easily accessible pocket? No.
@@aerynstormcrow I’m just speaking as to what I do/don’t do. I never check that pocket. No telling what’s in there! But I sure will before I travel again!
Mistake….3 idiots did the same mistake….
Probably not a mistake lol
It's a mistake owning a gun in the first place. No one is after anyone and no one wants to break into your silly house...
Obey and respect other countries laws
Seriously who forgets they have any thing regarding firearms. Unbelievable! Yes I'm a firearms owner. Geezus especially going into another country. AND the goofs at um security at OUR airport! Wow just wow. Anyone else find that concerning?
I find it concerning that our TSA did not catch it. I find it disappointing that the US is saying it is ok not to abide by other countries' laws.
This is ridiculous. You are your own worst enemy sorry bud I don’t trust you with a weapon
From what I have read in the comments; most people do not care ,myself included. They brought it on themselves by being irresponsible.
Maybe they can all become a gay throuple!😅😅😅😅
It’s not hard to check your luggage before you travel……
These men brought this on themselves and learning a valuable lesson the hard way.
Clearly American security blows but Turks was solid to locate this ammo.
Something is weird. Why and how did this happen to 3 men at the same time, and had never happened before to anyone? I mean, if it can happen this easily, it must be happening all the time??
They never took responsibility for their actions. “Don’t know how “ ammo got in the bag. This is how children get shot.
How is this "how children get shot?"
@@sherryford667 how about I don't know how the gun went off we were just looking at it.
@@winonabarter2540 Give me a break.
@@sherryford667 Nope it has happened many many times do your research.
@@winonabarter2540 There was not even a gun involved.
How did they get through the airport when they left the USA?
Who cares don’t break the laws of other countries?
because they were white men of money no one cared what was in their bags, they only search infants children and the disable.
Turks and Caicos had better security than the USA that's why they caught the prohibited items.
This happened to my husband when we were traveling. TSA found some bullets in my husband’s bag that had been there for quite a while. We were interviewed, bullets confiscated and we continued our travels. We had been through other airports and the other TSA teams did not find it. The bullets were at the bottom of his bag and we totally did not know they were there.
As a canadian & a frequent visitor to Turks, this law makes me happy
You probably voted for little Fidel too!
I am sure they are terrified. Anyone with sense would be.
every one who knowingly breaks the law is terrified
People who drink and drive “made” a mistake. So hmmmm
solid point
There is such a double standard and I can't understand why they are getting so much attention from the American press.
Why would they have all that ammo ?
They have a gun and they probably go to Shooting Ranges, perfectly legal in most states in the US.
@@Moondoggy1941 But not legal in that country and that is the issue, who cares what they do in the US where it is allowed, that's not where they were.
@@joan-lisa-smith The ammo was brought there by accident/mistake.
@@Moondoggy1941 yes you're correct! How did they get through the airport when they left the USA?
@@TurkeyCreekGal The TSA missed them, they probably got stuck in a crevice or something like that. It is ridicules to make something of this. Not much of a government take over with 20 bullets.
Everyone realizes its standard procedure to verify any and all requirements pertaining to travel to foreign locations and act accordingly.
Did they each have ammo in their luggage? Or, is it only one did so and the other is going down with him?
Yes, they both had a small amount of ammo and no weapons. There are 3 men being charged separately. They were not together and didn't previously know each other.
@@juliahelland6488 thank you for sharing your information. I had thought they had gone together.
@@juliahelland6488 if they didn't know each other, and only two had ammo, why are all three in trouble?
One time they found a used bullet round in my hand carry, it was from my grandpas funeral. He was a vet, and the military did an honorary funeral, they had given me a round from that. It was found in the U.S. airport and they were very understanding, but I can’t imagine if it was a foreign airport 😖
I don't think used bullets are illegal, I think without the gunpowder it's just a casing and not harmful to anyone in it's current form. Bullets have gunpowder in them and are dangerous even without a gun.
Turks & Caicos, a continued tourists destination will depend on the outcome of these individuals.
No it won’t. Plenty of people still traveling to Thailand, Russia, and plenty of other places who have put Americans in prison for less. Most people know not to bring guns and ammo to a foreign country.
Nope.
Why bring ammo on an island vacation?
REMEMBER THEY SAID THEY FORGOT IT WAS IN THEIR LUGGAGE......IT'S CRAZY AND THOSE COUNTRIES ARE CRAZY BUT THEIR LAWS ARE THEIR LAWS
All three????? Cha right.
This guy sure made some memories
Why take amio with no gun. Makes no sense. Something not right about all this.
Because he packed the ammo in his suitcase for his hunting trip. His rifle wouldn’t fit in a suitcase.
@@GreenVibezIguanaDaddy Even so why take bullets and no gun. My dad was a hunter and my brother has been hunting since he was 15 and still hunts at 73.
Like the deer they hunt are terrified.
“We are all human..” right, we are and with that being said you made your bed, go lay in it. Mistake or no mistake …y’all are irresponsible.
I was hoping he would've asked, "Did you order a code red?" Jack Nicholson would say, "You're GD right I did."
They'll probably just end up doing a few months, like the guy who got caught there in September of last year doing the same thing. He did 8 months.
Yeah but you see that guy was lucky cause he didn't know about their law yet and at the time this issue wasn't so common so he got off easy. These guys on the other hand may not get the same treatment. Turks and Caicos put these law in place and they will do their best to make an example of out of these people. The only way these guys would be able to get out of this is if they could hired a good strong attorney who could convince the judge or jury that they never meant any harm to the country or its people.
12 years seems extreme, but when you travel internationally you need to follow their laws. Marijuana is legal in my country (Canada) but If I "forget" it in my bag and travel to the US or Singapore, and get arrested, that's on me
The word "Entitled" comes to mind when I hear these two "All Americans" talk about making an honest mistake and how this law should not apply to them.
I fly monthly and have never packed without cleaning out my suitcase first. I do have standing toiletries that I leave in my bag but they are in the inner vinyl pocket so I can see in there without removing things. If the rounds had worked their way into the lining of the bag I’d understand, but an easily accessible pocket you should always give a good sweep before you travel? No.
We make mistakes?
No, it doesn’t happen to me. Every time I get on a plane, I completely empty my luggage and go through it. I check the laws.
And, if it wasn’t caught by TSA, it makes me wonder if they bought it as a souvenir? Black market? I just can’t imagine that TSA missed all those bullets.
The things my friends have told me they unknowingly made it through TSA with...
Wow everybody in these comments is super judgmental. I’m sure they’ve never made a mistake in their lives. These men didn’t purposely bring ammo, and how were they to know another country’s laws?
Exactly.
You check the US Embassy of any country you go to. It says it in big writing. How ignorant are you?
It happened to me thanks to my lovely husband…thank god I wasn’t travelling internationally.
It's very hard to feel sorry for the stupid people.
Thank you
Was it smart to take ammo to a foreign country?
On the bright side they’ll probably fall in love and have a great gay marriage! Love wins!
Man not only will they lose 12 years of their life now, they are going to lose 12 years without their kids and their job. To think your life is destroy from just one little mistake.
Boo-hoo tell that to the people sitting in prison for minor drug offences
They want do 12 years. But 1 year is bad in these jails in these countries.
@@glenmcdonald3548 Those people knew what they were doing though. These guys doesn't.
@@VOAN ignorance of the law is not a defence
12 yrs for ammo in bag seems a lil absurd and harsh. In Canada I watched a recent CrimeBeat episode (true crime show) and a guy killed his friend and dismembered him and scattered his body parts across the city. He was convicted and sentenced to 10 yrs....just saying!!
Could it be it was planted in their luggage?
that's what I was wondering; but why? It doesn't make any sense; none of it does.
It wasn't planted as they already claim it was theirs.
It was theirs, but the question is why bring ammo on vacation?
@@VOAN the one guy seemed like he didn't know how it got in there, the other guy said it was a mistake to have it in his bag & didn't realize it was in there & a mistake.
@@annmarie2964 I don't think either of them knew it was in their bags.
they should, don't bring ammo out of the US
I don't own any weapons or have any ammo but guess were I will never travel too. 12 years for ammo is a bit ridiculous.
Very ridiculous and the USA government has leverage it should deploy. This is like a hostage situation.
Something is amiss here. I think the trip was a family Vacation, but no country is gonna do all this for some bullets. They checked their backgrounds, imo. I think countries do not like when military operatives bring ammo into the country. Can’t you tell?
God help them come home!🙏🏼🙏🏼
Welcome to the wonderful world of gun ownership.......
These irresponsible tourists just fucked around and found out...
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I never put ammo in my luggage.
once again you were asked if you packed your bag you said yes, that makes you responsible for following laws in other countries. 20 rounds? NO it can not unless you packed without considering the laws of other countries, Other countries will not support your entitlement to ignore laws,
We should own a portable XRay or scanner at home, that way we see what’s inside just in case we’re in a rush. Modern tech teaches us to innovate everyday. Mistakes can result to a blunt nightmare let alone ruin your entire life and jeopardize your family. This too shall pass.
Dumb move
1:21 Mission accomplished!
It doesn't matter, Turks and Caicos' laws very clearly state to check your bags, we have laws and we enforce them. No sympathy for a person who packs their own bags, and does not check to make sure they are following the rules and laws of the country that is welcoming them as guests . Just as a basic issue it is rude to ignore rules when you are a guest in someones home. But more importantly they were aware of the law they didn't consider it important enough to make sure they were following it.
Sorry Americans dont get a pass when outside our country. Follow the laws or be willing to do the time.
Lesson here. Stop hunting. Find another sport that doesn't require a Gun.
I will never go and Visit
Ok. Thanks for sharing.
I won’t either!
I am anti gun but the penalty is excessive and our government should block tourism to Turks until they come up with a more reasonable penalty. The penalty is just plain stupid.
You don't get to make up the laws. Doesn't matter what you think. That country could carre less. It's their laws and these guys didn't check the US Embassy's webiste where it clearly states do not bring amo, recheck your bag
I can try to pay off you bail for you to go back to the USA I feel sorry for the I will pay all of there bails for them
No it doesn’t just happen- 20 ammo? seriously maybe own up to your mistakes. It’s so annoying when we like justify our stupidity.
You guys are not victims- you did NOT respect other countries law.
Fake news. Not Americans. Which European country are they from????
I dont believe their story.
Listen things can be overlooked in luggage from previous trips. Sometimes I pack in a hurry and sometimes I don't remove everything from my luggage when I get home. Bottom line is TSA should have found it in their checked luggage before they left the USA. You have to fill out a special form and submit it in advance to going to the airport for ammo or weapons. I once forgot I had a box cutter in my back jeans pocket while going through the security metal detector. I had just gone straight from work to the airport and forgot it was there. This happened a year after 911 and TSA understood and excepted my explanation. They took the box cutter and threw it away. Another time, my 12 year grandson had a small.pocket knife in a pocket of his backpack from a boy scout trip. We missed it because it was caught behind the seam. We did check his bag, but failed to see it. TSA took it and threw it away. There was no malintent either time. I was held a the security line because a forgot I had a 4 oz yogurt in my backpack, again they threw it out. Full disclosure I'm a white grandma, not sure if that influenced the outcome or not. I do hope they get back home to their families sooner than later. 💯
So it’s TSA’s fault? We live in a new era where accountability doesn’t exist. I’m sorry they should have paid attention. Btw, the American government issued a travel warning about this very thing in Turks and Caicos. Oh well.🤔🤷
bro don't blame tsa, but its insane T&C is focused on ruining these tourists lives over actual real crime in their miserable little island
Damn Trump Backers.
In a perfect world no one would make mistakes and we'd all be perfect. Reality proves otherwise!
