  • Have you called up a Kia Soul dealership and find out what it cost to change your transmission fluid on your Kia Soul 2016 with a 1.6 or 2.0 liter engine? Watch the Best Complete Transmission Fluid Change video and save your money! It's crazy what they charge. Did you know there is no dipstick in the transmission for you to check to see if your fluid is low? How do you check it? I can show you how to do it for less than 20 bucks and it doesn't take a lot of tools. Watch this DIY CZcams video and learn how to change your transmission fluid on your Kia Soul and Save tons of money. When I looked at the other CZcams videos I quickly learned they left a lot of information out that could possibly damage your engine. That's when I decided to make this video. I typically make Cadillac videos but because of what I had to go through to do this job I was compelled to make the CZcams video for you kia owners out there so you don't have to spend a lot of money. There's a lot of Kia Soul models out there, before you go to Kia motor finance, look at a 2016 Kia Soul review if you see at 2016 Kia Soul for sale , or even a Kia motors India, I'm not too sure if this will work on a Kia Sorento you'll have to do your own homework on that one. Find out when the transmission fluid was changed.
    This video is one of the most comprehensive videos on this subject. I was surprised at the lack of information that's out there so I had to do a lot of research to find out how to do this because I wasn't about to spend approximately $300 to have someone change my transmission fluid. In this video I will show you it doesn't take a lot of money it doesn't take a lot of tools and it doesn't take a lot of time to do this job, watch this video a few times to develop your confidence trust me if you can change your oil in your car or change a tire you can definitely change your transmission fluid in your Kia Soul. My channel is a DIY channel and I fix a lot of different things in my channel yes I'm not a one-trick pony. I tried to make one video a week. I'm not positive, I didn't read it anywhere, but every other transmission I've done. We always make sure the vehicle is level before you check the flow, or drip from the Transmission. And Probably a good idea to torque if drain plug back in. And lastly probably a good idea to use the internal temperature of the transmition. Otherwise, I think He did a great job, thank you Sir.

      Thanks for your kind input. ( rare now days ) in the video I explain there is no dip stick. And yes in the video I use a laser to check temp. And the width of the pan is small so there is no much oil still in there even tho I jack it up. I measured and put back in what I took out. Then made sure when I put oil in it seeped out the drain plug to top off your oil. You'll still have oil in your torque convertor. But if you keep changing your trans. Oil regularly, that old oil will eventually be good oil. But if you want it level, jack up the back. I have done it this way (like i show in the video )and so far it's shifting great . I have put about 2k and it's shifting better then when I got it. The again. Check out my other videos.

    I think I saw one other commenter say this but you don’t have to align the hole on the fill bolt and the hose. If you look at the way it’s made, the mouth of the opening has a larger ID then where the threads are but the plug is not tapered. It’s got a straight wall so at the part of the plug closest to the head, where the hole in it is, there will be space around the plug allowing for vent and flow. Make sense? Great video. Very clear and concise. You remind me of back in the day when guys took the time to show respect to the profession and do it right. I’ll check out some more of your stuff cause I like your style. Good luck.

    I used the great info in this video to change the trans fluid on my 2013 Optima Hybrid. The trans looks the same only problem is an electrical junction box sits right over the fill hole requiring me to us a pump to replace the fluid and having a very difficult time removing and replacing the filler cap. The tip about aligning the hole in the fill cap was great otherwise I would have missed that!!

    • @ebunnes
      @ebunnes Před 5 měsíci

      I have a 2019 optima plug-in (european model) and I think these hybrids have another fill plug located closer to the exhaust side of the engine. That plug is perfectly accessible with a socket wrench. The reason for this extra fill hole would be exactly that the "original" breather plug location is blocked by the high voltage stuff as you described.

    I like your video, I don't even remove the stuff on top because I don't use the above fill plug. I do a drain and fill every 30,000. I just drain it, clean the magnet bolt, measure it and pump the new fluid into the level port in the front of the transmission so all access needed is just from below. Also doing a drain and fill by using the top plug n overflow to measure then the car needs to be jacked up level. Just being jacked up in front will overfull it by about a 1/2 quart, and the engine can run with overflow club removed to help take in the maximum amount. I run it while I'm pumping it into the same port.

    15:08 Thank you sir. But I am doing different. My 2012 Kia Soul hits 97500 miles. First time I change the ATF on 65000 miles. I back home and when car was hot I did drain ATF, tide the Drain plug back by 30 lbs the Torqu Ranch.
    It is time to fill back the ATF. I opened on Driver side the Level plug and filled the ATF to the Transmission by the level plug. When the ATF been drain out of the Level plug I pluged back the Level plug. So I started the Engine and ran about 15 minutes. It is warm the ATF. So I did unplugged the Level plug and warm ATF is drained a little bit, so level of ATF is right.

    Thank you so much for the extremely detailed video. I've never done a transmission fluid change, but I'm going to try it for the first time. I'm not sure how long ago the previous owner changed it, but I'm at 160k miles on the odometer. Would it be safe to do it after this much neglect? I hear a whining noise when I accelerate, but there's no real obvious slippage. I sometimes notice that the gear doesn't shift right away (around 4th gear?) as I accelerate from 0 to 60mph.

      If you want to change your filter every time you change your fluid that's up to you. I'm going to change mine every other fluid change. For a transmission filter change there are other sites you can find, that will show you how to do that. It takes more tools and time. But do able. I will do mine in the late spring, and do a video. As far as the trans. Fluid. You'll never get all the fluid out of your trans. There is a good amount in your torque converter. So that's why it's important you change your fluid regularly so you don't have "old fluid in there". But that's up to your confidence level and how many miles you drive and how hard you drive. The fluid is approved for kia's. So it's the same oil theoretically. I have never had a problem with this fluid. If anything it shifts better. Thanks for stopping by.

    ABSOLUTELY agree 150%!!
    What a PIECE OF SHIT design! I'm SO fucking SICK of manufacturers now making all these BULLSHIT types so that now you have almost no choice (unless you have mechanical skills/tools) but to bring it in and pay ridiculous amounts of money for things that you used to be able to do yourself and fairy easily! This includes parts they'll discontinue in just a few years or are almost impossible to get, keys that break off of the remote/FOB, keeping auto info undisclosed, etc, etc..!!!
    My girlfriend has this exact car and is having the same issue and to find out there isn't even a dipstick anymore so you can see (within seconds) if any additions need to be made is OUTRAGEOUS!
    I can't even help her as we're long distance. So now she has no choice but to shell out hundreds of dollars to these ASSHOLES/some mechanic, as I'm not there and she doesn't have the DIY ability; and all for something that would cost nowhere near what it would if not for this simple "indicator take away"/scam design.
    The fuckin' GREED in this world sickens me!!
