If you were in an earlier generation, you may have steered R&B into safety. You have a wonderful talent!
Wow...That means a lot. Thanks fam! 🙏🏾✊🏾
MELO BRO!!! these R&B Artists really don't know what they're missing out on. I truly believe that you have what it takes to take any upcoming R&B artist to the top. All it takes is one track to blow up, and the rest will follow through. Keep trodding my brother. Breakthrough is surely coming for you!!! SALUTE!! 🤙🏾🤙🏾
I appreciate you my brother - Your kind words always mean a lot. When it happens, just remember that your motivation played a big part in it. Thank you bro. 🙏🏾✊🏾
@@melotheproducerand give him some money
Yessir bring back that raw emotion in the RnB production
Yeah brother. We 'bout to make 'em sang lol. 🙏🏾✊🏾
Why does this almost make me want to cry? 😢 This track is amazingly beautiful.
Wow - I appreciate that bro. 🙏🏾✊🏾
Man you giving away jewels!! 💎 You’re a musician bruh! Your tracks aren’t like various YTers. 4 bar or 8 bar creations. Copy/Paste… track done. I can’t even imagine what more you can give in your classes. You are crazy with it. Thoroughly enjoy this one… deserve a second or third watch✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾
I appreciate it my brother! I'm glad you enjoyed it and glad to know that there's value in it. 🙏🏾✊🏾
Hey my brother. I just want to say that your influence resonates in my music, and I’m grateful for it every day. Thank you for being such a possitive source of energy in my life man. I really hope we can make music together brother
Hey my brother. I appreciate that. It really means a lot. You know I love your music as well, so it's an honor. Looking forward to making some music with you soon bro. 🙏🏽✊🏽
@@melotheproducer my guy! 💯💯
Dope man, I wish there were more people like you that really care about the genre enough to pass on the knowledge. These days seems like everyone just wants to hold the sauce hostage and I really don't get it. Time stops for nobody. Much respect!
Thanks bro. Man there are so many people who love and appreciate R&B, but either didn't have some of the privileges I had or simply didn't have someone to tell them "You can do it." I want to bless those R&B/music lovers with the knowledge and confidence to help preserve the genre and help push it forward. Glad you enjoyed it my brother. 🙏🏾✊🏾
Yessir! Another classic right here! One tip that I'd add (forgot if it was mentioned) is to limit quantization usage - especially when playing keys, guitar or synth basses. Quantization is helpful in correcting notes that are noticeably off, but I feel that producers should practice their takes, until the recorded element doesn't need quantization. A quantized synth bassline sounds so robotic and static! 🤮
I would also recommend producers to try to record as much of their beat idea live, instead of clicking in notes at the piano roll. Notice how Melo does not click in anything in his sessions. If he clicked in everything, the emotional depth would not be anywhere as close. (Obviously, you can play with the velocity, but who got time for all that?) 🤣
Thanks bro! I definitely agree with not just quantization everything because that can suck the emotion right out of a composition. Same with just inputting notes without feeling what you're playing. Well said bro. And thanks again - I'm glad you enjoyed it. 🙏🏾✊🏾
Loving the content and I agree, emotion is in the sounds that resonate with us, the little nuances, and expressing every layer of our feelings. I love all art forms, though most of them require visual interaction in order to be appreciated; we musicians paint pictures on silence and are most vulnerable conveying feelings that are audible. Great music, as always.
Thanks brother. And wow - That was very well stated. "Paint pictures on silence" 💯🙏🏾✊🏾
I stumbled across your channel and im very thankful i did! Your channel is exactly what i need when it comes to r&b! I like the way you explain sound selection, chords, emotion, ARRANGEMENT, different types of r&b etc etc and heck, you even explained what exactly is r&b. Straight to the point! You earned one more subscriber! Pls continue this way, its very helpful especially for a beginner like me! Now let me go binch watch these videos!

Fantastic video bro, I really enjoyed it! Emotion is one of the most important key-elements when it comes to R&B and you are definitely a master in that.👌🏻
Both beats are masterpieces and I hope you will put them on your Spotify. 🔥
Salute brother!🫡✊🏼
I appreciate you as always brother. I'm thinking about getting someone (vocalist) on these for release. I'll definitely let you know. Thanks again bro and salute! 🫡🙏🏾✊🏾

Thank you melo so much u have heard me
Thank you bro. I'm glad you enjoyed it. 🙏🏾✊🏾
wonderful excellent
Thanks fam. 🙏🏾✊🏾
Love this one!!! Shocked when you pulled out that guitar!!! sounds much better than that native instruments sampled thinga ma jig. LOL!!! I guess I do feel some kinda way about those native instrument guitars... lol! I have to work on my build ups and stop breaks. Your music is very expressive!! Hammer on's are just that extra sweetener!!!
Thanks fam! You're gonna make me learn to play that guitar one of these days 😂. Just give me a couple of years and I'll leave the fake ones alone - I promise! Thanks - I'm glad you enjoyed it. 🙏🏾✊🏾
@@melotheproducer It didn't sound like you were to far off on the playing. I totally understand string'ed instruments require more time to get use to. I have been putting in hours to learn and know how it's no joke. It' just something about those NI one's that are not quite right. It's like they sampled chord sets and didn't focus on individual strings. No one plays like the way they sampled them.
@@Ast3rixMusic Yeah I can definitely hear what you mean by the individual strings thing. Honestly, playing the guitar is one of those things I've always wanted to learn, but I always made excuses to not really put in the time. But I'm seriously considering taking some lessons because there's just nothing like the real thing.
@@melotheproducer The combination of your already very polished sound and some solid guitar would wipe all of out. LOL!!!
Love these video's man. Keep it up!
Thanks fam! 🙏🏾✊🏾
this is really good brother!

@@melotheproducer I'm watching now. Fantastic! I want to soak up your YT channel for a "moment" and then hit 2 or 3 Masterclasses. I want to be somewhat "ready" for the sessions. I love your explanation of how you approach left hand creations (on one of your other video uploads). Can't wait! Thanks for all you do!
Thanks bro. 🙏🏾 Looking forward to meeting you soon! 💯
As always 🔥🔥🔥

your beats sound crazy fam, i love rnb but its such a hard genre to make... respect
I appreciate it bro. Man there's not that much to it. Just build one sound at a time. 🙏🏾✊🏾
Absolutely amazing.
I appreciate it my brother. 🙏🏽✊🏽
I have been sleeping on using the mod wheel. It can really transform a lead and take it to a whole other level. Beautiful content as always.
I appreciate it bro. Yeah man - That pitch bend can really be underrated. Just start playing with it and feeling it out until you develop your technique. 🙏🏾✊🏾

It would be a great idea to use a vocal and build a track around it.
I did one a little while back. You can check it out here: czcams.com/video/tLsRHWbJ0v8/video.html , but I'll do another one with an actual singer soon lol. 🙏🏾✊🏾
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I appreciate it fam. 🙏🏾✊🏾
Bruh you’re so different 🔊🔊🔥 put summer walker on the second beat 😂
Thanks bro.😂 It would be a little different for her, but I could definitely hear Summer Walker on that one. 🙏🏾✊🏾
Appreciate your babymaking joint. Never stop. Respect from 💛💙💛💙 SWEDEN 💛💙💛💙
Thanks bro! Glad you enjoyed it. Respect from ATL my brother🙏🏽✊🏽
Do you do melody and lyrics as well? That seems to be the hardest part to making songs.
@@zurkram I do. This is an older video, but you can check it out. czcams.com/video/ygcL3gPpRVY/video.html Maybe I'll do another one soon. Thanks for watching my brother. 🙏🏾✊🏾
Damn Melo you did it again!! Love this type of sound bro, so smooth and emotional at the same time. What’s your general rule of thumb instrument arrangement use when producing a track? Do you have an idea in yo head before you start in it??
Thanks brother! I don't usually have anything in mind until I sit down at the keyboard. Usually I just fiddle around a little until I hear something. When I'm arranging, I just want imagine someone singing over the track, so I try to break it down into sections that inspire the artist to write/sing a little differently over those different sections. I also try to add enough to build it up as the track goes, but keep it simple enough to not get in the artist's way. Thanks again bro - I'm glad you enjoyed it. 🙏🏾✊🏾
dope
Thanks bro. 🙏🏾✊🏾
Thanks for breaking down the structure of the beat...that's what i need to work on...right now i just kinda get lost in the emotion of it...smooth by the way, I don't know how or why you showed up in my recommendations...but I'm better for it...
Thanks fam. I'm glad this video found its way to you. Honestly, it sounds like you're in a good place (getting lost in the emotion of it). Don't lose that emotion - Just start paying attention to what things give what emotion so you can be intentional about it. And remember, you can add a much as you want to - You can always remove what the track doesn't need when you arrange it. You got it fam! Thanks again. 🙏🏾✊🏾
Good Stuff....It would be cool to see your transitions into a whole different key on a bridge.
Thanks bro. Crazy enough, I was actually considering doing a key change in a bridge in this video. I got you in the next video brother! 🙏🏾✊🏾
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Thanks fam! Looking forward to checking out some of your content - Waiting on some vids from you. 🙏🏾✊🏾
YOU TOO HARD BROOOO!!!! GET PRO TOOLS!!! GET FR WITH YOUR CRAFT!!!! 🤩🤩🤩🤩
I appreciate it brother. 🙏🏾 But not having Pro Tools means I'm not for real with my craft? ✊🏾
Means you playing games. There's level to this shit. And you definitely on that level.@@melotheproducer
@envisagefilmshouston I appreciate it. But when did Pro Tools become a higher level than Cubase? I've worked at studios where we ran Pro Tools, but I personally prefer Cubase's workflow. How would using Pro Tools take me to further?
Is the standard, the industry demands it...@@melotheproducer
@@envisagefilmshouston The industry wants track outs, not Pro Tools sessions. They'll ask for a certain quality (48kHz), but if they like a beat, it doesn't matter whether it was recorded in FL, Logic, Ableton, Reason, Cubase, Pro Tools, or whatever else. I know too many producers with major placements who don't use Pro Tools to fall for the "because Pro Tools paid to be the industry standard" thing. Now if you can give me an actual benefit (as far as quality or workflow), I might consider taking my money and changing my setup to follow your advice. But I'm definitely not going to do it without a good reason.
hey Melo, really appreciate your work!! I have a quick question: how did you learn the R&B theory? do you have any study material you recommend? Thanks a lot!!!
Thanks bro!! I'd say the best way to learn R&B theory is to just learn a little basic music theory and listen to a lot of R&B. I learned the ins and outs of R&B by listening and enjoying music by artists like Brian McKnight, Kelly Price, Jodeci, Fantasia, Babyface, Keyshia Cole, 112, Whitney Houston, Boyz II Men, etc. over the years. I never really thought I was studying it - I was just indulging in it and I was constantly listening to R&B. I hope this helps. Thanks again! 🙏🏾✊🏾
Hello, can you also show chords you play on keyboard or in piano roll if that possible?
Hey bro. I can definitely do that. I'll try to in the next video. 💯🫡
Turn the kick down some. Way too pokey/punchy for RnB. It’s taking too much attention away from the melodic elements.
There's only one way to mix a kick in R&B?
Too much talking. I can't hear what ur doing... geez
