- I abandoned my iPhone 15 Pro Max and spent a full week with the Nokia 2780 Flip to see if I could survive, and perhaps even thrive, with a feature phone in 2024.

Isn’t the whole point of this phone, to get away from all these social media apps.
It’s cnet they are like well meaning irrelevant grandparents, just smile and nod.
I don’t think it was due to social media apps the phone launched as a burner phone just in case phone.
Exactly this girl is way too young to understand. She is brainwashed like her other coworkers since grade 5
They should release nokia e series with keyboard.
No even on a flip phone I was still on Facebook web version a lot. It’s just not as instant which is good so we don’t spend as much time as we could be like on full smartphones. I would get on, post an update, maybe like a photo and end it. But I had mobile internet shortly before smartphones got really really
Popular because data plans were so expensive even for basic phones
This is the most Gen Z thing I’ve ever watched
Seriously. Lol.
They are so annoying. The way they laugh, talk, and pretend life is a box of chocolates.

afraid of the picture on istagram? I thought the whole f'en exercise was to get away from the socials and distractions!
Her chin is killing me lol.
95% of this was:
I spent a week using a $90 flip phone to complain it wasn't a $1200 iphone.
People revert to "dumb phones" to stop being so dependent on smart phones and help them to cut screen time. IMHO
lol saved me 10 minutes of my day 🤣
Humans are bad at doing things moderately.
She's too young to remember how we used to manage without smartphones, so she spent the whole time trying to get that thing to work like an iPhone, instead of figuring out how to do things without using apps.
This girl is lost in life.
Like totally 😂
I'm retired and don't have a phone anymore and y'all have no idea what you're missing.
Next you'll be telling us that you pay for everything with cash, and you don't have a TV. 🙄
@@GeeEee75 Or I'll be telling you I live in the mountains, hike a ton and have lots of animals.
You believe whichever makes you feel better about yourself.
@@DaringDan ultimate goals imo
But....but, OnlyFans😢.
@@MoeFokahwake up brother.
Her generation will never know what it’s like to not be attached to a electronic device.
It's sad. Imagine in the future, when Gen X will be the last living adults who can remember what it was like to grow up without a mobile phone, let alone a smartphone!😪😂
@@GeeEee75 I'm a millennial and as far as I remember I only got a smartphone when I was 17, and this was the very early days of Android (think 2.3.6) and it was way less addictive to use smartphones up until 2013, when there were more and more powerful phones being released with more and more functions and apps...I thankfully had a childhood with very little electronics, but seeing how bad electronics addiction has gotten me, has me scared for my small nephew...
@WildWildWeasel I didn't touch a computer until high-school and didn't have an email address until university. I didn't have any sort of mobile phone until age 23ish, which was a Nokia 3310 or similar. 😂
@@GeeEee75 lmao I did have a 3310 as my first ever phone, and that's when I was like 9 years old because I was far from my parents at school and needed to call them, and as for email, right after starting high school in 2007, but only because the basketball team needed an email for the yearly grade reports I'd get from the principal, because if anyone's scores dropped a certain amount they'd get kicked from the team
Miss those days, especially when I got into motocross in my teens
@WildWildWeasel But if your phone had "Snake" on it, that counts as addictive (and possibly social) media! 😬😂
I remember listening to local over the air FM radio on my Nokia 6085 and 6101 in the mid-2000s. Any earphone or headphone’s cable that was attached served as the FM tuner’s antenna. It was free audio that did not count against your mobile data cap!
no subscriptions!! 😅😊🙏🏻
I can text with T9 without looking back in the day 😅I miss a full keyboard phone like My LG Rumor
I can still text on a dumb phone without looking 😆
Do anybody to accept Jesus Christ as your Savior he want to give you love and calmness and salvation and eternal life if you confess your sins
The battery life is disappointing btw, 12 hours is unacceptable on this kind of phones
Right. Shouldn’t need a charge for a week
I agree
If you use it as intended it has juice for more than 1 week ... she used it like a freaking smartphone!
Those phones are used for taking calls, sms and listening to music.
With 1400mah (which is the biggest in that category) you are not allowed to complain.
Some people missed the meaning of this phone in the first place!
As a smartphone user this shows im not doing too badly to get a full day out of my Samsung Z flip.
"I had a T9 phone for like 6 months in 5th grade then an iPhone from then on out..." God I feel old... 🤣
Yep. I didn't have a mobile phone until I was about 22.😪😂
please remember its a cell phone not a smart phone .
I don't use any social media at all, so that wouldn't be an adjustment at all for me. However, I do use my phone to keep up on tech news and track my workouts and diet. The shocking thing for me is that this is just a one day phone. I kind of expected more. At least the battery is swappable.
Same bro
My Samsung S24 ultra lasts longer than that thing!
I find it interesting "replying to texts faster" is in her list of pros. Mine would be spending less time texting, more on phone calls. Gen Z vs. Millennial differences for sure. I used to love the calls and voicemails I got from friends. Texts were meant to be quick ways to make plans, share brief updates, or tell people random stuff you intended to talk about later in a phone call.
Exactly
I’m getting a new flip phone in a week or two. 😊 don’t care what anyone says or thinks. It’s the TCL Flip 2 and I can even order a nice plastic case to put around the phone.
You can easily survive with a 2012-13 Blackberry Curve or Bold, as it has a QWERTY keyboard. It can do everything the feature phone does, but on a slightly larger 3 inch screen.
Are they 4G compatible
What i hate about new nokias is hard to buy new batteries because their battery swell over time.
Damn, good to know 😐
“Yassified the snake” 😭
Cringe 😬
Goes to show how dependent the smartphone generation is so over connected ... How many of you actually remember phone numbers and know how to navigate using an real map & not GPS?
I do. My mum, dad because I call them frequently
Not all of us live in a small town.. so we absolutely need the GPS. PRINTING OUT map quest isn't acceptable anymore bud lol
Kudos to you for going a week. I used the same Nokia phone for a weekend. Its for sure different than today's phones, but its similar to what I grew up using so that nostalgia factor was present. It did make me use my phone less.
Great video! You did a great job comparing all the features to what we use on our iPhones.
Let it be sold by Balenciaga.
Great presentation. I’ve seen other bloggers talk about their life with flip phones and it’s nice to get a different point of view. Great presentation.
aint this straight up a promo and not a blog whatchu mean "great presentation" 😭
@@seaweed428 it may surprise you to know that there’s a growing movement of people that are using flip phones instead of smart phones. Some of the flip phones do a little more than talk and text and others are capable of running apps like Waze and other simple apps that don’t require a lot ofresources. I challenge you to go without a smart phone for a week and use only a flip phone just to see if you could do it. You don’t even have to tell me the results.
How do you listen to music on it do you have to hook it into computer and put MP3 files on it or does it work with apps like CZcams music and all those , also if you close screen if you have CZcams premium will the video and audio stop or still play in background
Great video Jessica, I don't remember any apps or internet using the flip...maybe I had the basic and yes, we are so dependent on our smart phones!
Very interesting vid.
Would love to see how you can handlrle a week of samsung dex as your laptop
please remember its a cell phone not a smart phone .👽👽
Survive huh?
The cringe is real right.
She has a lot to learn
Awesome review Jessica 😎
if i did this i'd use a classic 2g/3g handset from back in the day - 2g still exists in the uk for as much as the next 10 years so it'd work and it'd mean you wouldnt miss the point of being more intentional
the vocal fry at the end of every sentence.
Take that Vault 7! Next level privacy tech! For those of you who need privacy. Just need talk and text people. If you’re okay with the government knowing every single detail about your your life and who’s your nearest kin then you can still provide that information by login in to Facebook on a laptop.
I’d love to get one! I first got a Smart phone in 2014.
It’s interesting because halfway through this I realized some of these challenges are only issues for city people. I’d be interested to hear a similar review from someone who lived in a more rural/suburban area
You really don’t need a smartphone, flip phones are better
Welcome back Jessica! 😊
we need a small phone from nokia.. the same size as iPhone 5S, single camera and thin bezels.
no notch would be amazing.
her genuine smile makes it all the reason for me to get one. like, dunny y some smartphone ppl just look grumpy. was it the stress? their worries?
I feel like if you really want that nostalgia with modern technology, the flip phone should have best in class cameras with good navigation app, as well as the ability to be optimized for music applications. I think there is a market for these older style devices, but people won’t compromise on camera’s because in today’s smartphones, the camera is probably the most important feature!
You can survive a week without a phone I’m pretty sure.
This video just validated my thesis on Creators, which was directly correlated to the thesis of the video. However, the content and elements are relevant.
I used to be able to text messages in my pocket with one hand back in the day. Supervisors at Big W never had a clue.
How old are you? You had T9 for 5 months and then an IPhone at 5 the grade? 24 years old?
I want a pretty basic phone for my middle schooler to have on him when he's at friends or after school stuff, but I need to know if this phone has the ability to be tracked by me? Anyone know?
Wait, I’m using iPhone 11. Is there a big difference in picture quality like VHS to 4K with newer iPhones?
Many say it is. Say the difference in display from the IPhone 11 to iPhone 12 is pretty drastic.
can run java programs?
As a college student,I have survived an whole year with a 3310 nokia phone from 2023, it might seem to be a bit uncomfortable because everyone might be using the internet but it might soon vanish after some week.
I love this video😂 from iPhone to Nokia 😂
I think the best and cheapest flip phone worth getting is the Moto Razr at $500.
I got the nokia 2720 the phone is great yet the screens are less quality and easy scratched
Why is it so chunky like a "My first fisher price flip phone"? my LG 575 & LG 500 flip phones from decades ago - the build tolerances were so much tighter / higher quality. Its huge - in a badway
Why don't you try the remarkable 2.
Didn't know I needed a Gen Z tech review in my life
I just got myself a 12 mini was tired of the big phone but didn’t want a dumb phone as I like texting & gps
I Remember The Flip Phone Days, From The Late 90s, To The Late 00s, The Last Time I Used A Flip Phone Was In 2008, And The Last Time I Used A Blackberry Phone Was In 2013, And After That, It Was All IPhones From There, My Brothers And Sisters.
forget Flip Phones… i grew up with the OG 3310 right up to the premium 8850 and Communicator 9210 and E90. Fun times for Nokia..
Yep, I’m notoriously slow to text back too..or never text completely. lol 😂
4:00 Anything but a real, dedicated camera. 🤦♀️
The 2000s called they want their phone back
Very true n the world needs to stop living on the Internet 24 ×7 and while away their time n energy. Also stop wasting money by keeping on buying cell phones all the while upgrading which is a good way for the mobile business booming. BTW which Nokia smart phone wud be a good choice similar use a s the flip; though I hv jus taken up a moto edge 40 neo
Smartphones are not the problem, it is us surrendering to social media. I don't have any social media apps on my phone other than WhatsApp just to get free international calling.
I really miss T9... Can't get it on Android and for me... It is the best method of typing...
oh so that why steve job went for whole keyboard. easy to type
Why are the flip phones seem to be pushed?? What about the bar style phones ?? They are same other than form
I still remember with this keypad I can type any messages without even looking at the screen!
The Indian one comes with UPI preinstalled so u still get digital payments
i miss T9 phones.. i could text one handed without even looking at my phone and get the words exact lol
Man you are really selling this me ngl
I kind of want one for the days I don’t want to be bothered
Omg these people in the video are kids. Never played snake! I suddenly feel old.
Flip phones rule!!
kids today = i can survive a Nokia Flip Phone as long as it has TikTok,Insta & X….
I thought this was a skit. Good video.
It’s only 4G has it wifi?
For the year that I had a phone with a T9 keyboard I didn't even have text prediction 😬
dont u rmb ppl used 2 txt lik dis bck den? XD
I have been using my Samsung Flip for 8 months already and I'm doing alright 😅
Can anyone confirm for me if WhatsApp is already available for this phone in the KaiStore?
However, be *VERY* careful buying a new flip phone, though. Most new flip phones rely on digital cellular networks, and many cell carriers are no longer supporting 2G and sometimes 3G digital cellular service. You want to phone that supports Voice over LTE (VoLTE) 4G service nowadays.
This flip mobile can have a cam also like I phone. 🇺🇸s people love flip Mobil.
I was a pro at typing on my phone back in 2006 😅. I didnt even have to look at the keyboard
I miss the Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
Try a Nokia 1280 next time.
My government phone I got has 4G LTE and I like the way it works I had to sign up for a government phone usedy ssn to get the phone
that X really startled me
I want the phone that can slide and have a horizontal keyboard . Ill ditch everyting for it tbh
I thought: iPhone in 5th grade?? And then I remembered its 2024. My colleague had 3gs he bought second hand for years, it was released in 2009...
I'm 14 yr old , I have Tokvia T221 , I surviving with it since 18 October 2023
Texts do not need personality. They need to convey a message.
Oh wow
So I’m just now learning that some of y’all got your first iPhone as a fifth grader. I kinda always assumed everyone had some knockoff brand android phone until high school 😅
THAT ANNYOING VOICE !!!!!!!!! DAMNNNNNNNNN
but honestly if ignore the voice, yes the video was awesome to watch,
dont get me wrong, her voice is beautiful, like the way she talks outside of A roll shots, but the way she thinks shes doing "presentation" no please be real.
I want that phone.
Gotta love that accent. Like little sustained gurgles on the end of words...😂
No it’s absolutely annoying. And unnecessary.
For the Sake of our Mental Health and Wellbeing, Yes, We Can Survive without a Smartphone….
I have a control over myself and my phone.
And I often give self appreciation note for myself.
When we get self appreciation with our own self realisation.... Then trust me you are the Boss, none can dare to resist u on any grounds.
Just magnify solitude.... It's Elite feel and only very few can master it.
Try this with a New Nokia 3310 like I did 😂
Total 'Definitely leave room for cream' vibes.
If there's no food i believe you cannot survive😂😂
This is the most Gen Z thing I've ever watched. You had access to most of the apps you would use on your iPhone?
iirc ppl used 2 type like dis b4 smartphones. Dis let u type more words n get more points aX. Also b4 emojis ppl just use punctuations to do facial xpressions like dis :) :( :0 XD
U r obv 2 young 2 rmb tht becoz u spelt Love instead of Luv
I had to reread this because in my head I was like "type like what?"
Yeah we did it mostly to save the cost of it going into a second text message as back then each text cost around 10p each. Phone calls were worse 50p a minute in the uk
The real question is ? Why u need a smartphone ?. Im using mine Nokia 2660 Flip since it came out.
I want a chunky flipphone that has an amoled display
Privacy, That's NOKIA 😂
