Convention Center (Cleveland)
Edgar Froese, Chris Franke, Paul Haslinger.
An untouched concert in excellent sound quality.
Bootmoon release. - Hudba
I was at this concert and afterward I was so blessed to shake the hand of Edgar Froese. It was an amazing concert. RIP Mr. Froese, you brought joy to many with your music.
blessed indeed, i bought tickets to his last concert in australia but couldn't make the trip from perth, so my tickets were wasted, if only i'd known that was my last opportunity to see him i would have made every effort to get over the 6000km... you could probably confirm that paul haslinger played the piano medley...and not edgarfroese... in my opinion the original version from ricochet is pure genius
@@ianburton8050 ok.
Have yourself a holy one!
The brilliant Yellowstone park
My relative had this played at his cremation
Few tears but he specifically told everyone to try and enjoy it even though he passed as it's a fantastic track
I'm live in Cleveland.A fan for 47 years so much great albums by masters of space yeeeesaaaaa friends get high and Dream
High in .......?
This is probably the best live version of Dolphin Dance I've ever heard!
absolutely amazing !
Sweet version...Great job on Dolphin Dance!
Beatiful concert. Richaed W is the Tangerine Dream fourth member. Thank you very much from Venezuela.
This was the first TD show I went to, and almost 30 years later, it is still the best concert I have ever attended. Fare thee well, Herr Froese. Ruhe in frieden.
This was my first live TD concert, seated next to me was a former friend and my best friend, Lyle Deavers was there also with two friends. A wonderful experience to behold. Today, Lyle and myself enjoy listening to their catalog of music in many of our journeys throughout the Cleveland area.
There were 6 or 7 people who drove up from Dayton with me to see this show in Cleveland. First, last and only time I ever saw T Dream, glad we made the drive. My cheesy little computer speakers just aren't up to the task of recreating the full effect of being there live.
Buy a set of Bose computer speakers. Well worth the investment. Or simply put on a good set of headphones.
Fantastic set list. Saw them twice in the eighties once at Kennedy Center and Warner Theater opening for Frank Zappa
My go to listen every lazy sunday afternoon
Nice to hear so many first hand experiences here! From people who actually were at the concert (or almost ...). I rediscovered TD 2 years ago and was so fortunate to see them perform in Nijmegen last year. Tangerine Dream is absolutely my favorite music band. I specifically love their concerts from the period 75-80. This is more than music. It is pure art.
I was at this show in Cleve.. Great lazer show, Of course in 1986 I don't remember much of that night! THIS is a FINE recording...
Ahh, the summer of '86 and Tangerine Dream were touring America again. I was living in Denver, going to school at the Art Institute. When this was announced, I grabbed a couple of tickets as fast as I could. I had seen half of the last tour in the US, back in 1980. Okay, they only did two shows in the US that year, but I saw the Santa Monica show, so technically......
I never thought I'd get a second chance to see the Dream live,so I jumped at it. Took a deadhead friend of mine from school (Lars from Chicago, where are you now?) and he loved it. That summer also there was no weed to be found in Denver. But there was enough black hash that you could pave the streets with it. Just bricks of that all summer. So with the pre-show partaking of said black bricky stuff,we set forth into the Paramount Theatre. Lights out, people just sat back, smoked & enjoyed. An amazing show. The only thing that would have made it better, have the show at Red Rocks. I'm still baffled at that.
'Excellent sound quality', dear lord yes! This is a stunning tape sound wise. It's all here, a good set, superbly recorded for you to sit back, crank it up (I have the Bose speakers on my PC) and enjoy.
Hey Richard, great job on all the great TD you have gotten into CZcams. This sounds amazing. Love their stuff "live" Cool how Edgar & Chris add some nice improve jamming when playing live. Saw them in '86 in Toronto. Blew a friend I went with away. He was such a Rock dude, & all about guitar I was happy being a synth lover, how he woke up to what 3 artists w/ a lot of synths can do together! Met P. Haslinger & got his autograph after the show, Edgar & Chris had so many fans around them I never got to talk to either one unfortunately....But have the program to this incredible show at beautiful Massey Hall. What a memory!! 68 now, & cried some when Edgar left us in '15, but I do think the new version of TD is really talented even though the '70s & '80s stuff can't be ever totally replicated...A special musical experience!
I was at this concert. Glorious memory!
I was at this show. It was my first TD show and I had discovered them just after the Encore tour, which meant this tour was the first time they had toured America in 10 years. Even though I was first in line at the Box Office, strangely the best I could do was 14th row!
I have been to a concert in Detroit (Meadowlands) for this tour (also summer of 1986). It was incredible.
Muy grato escucharlos sonido maravilloso.
Went to this concert at the universal studios amphitheatre with my 7 year old son and got him hooked on TD
We have gone to 4 other concerts together over the years and just last week to the latest 😊
Saw them on this tour , dragged my friend along on the condition I went to see Pil the following week with him . I got him in to td after the show . And PIL was the best gig I ever went to.
Absolutely amazing!! Favs: ''Akash Deep', 'Dolphin Dance' and 'Ride on the Ray'.😍
The sound quality on this beats anything I have heard from a TD concert. There are so many good concerts that TD did that I cannot bear to listen to because of the sound quality, but this is better than the Staadtgrenze West DDR Radio recording 6 years earlier. I am guessing that this was done at the mixing desk/soundboard? I saw them on the UK leg of this tour at the Hammersmith Odeon in London.
Realmente un grupo excepcional, y una atmosfera, sonidos, ritmo totalmente desbordante de creatividad, grandes estos músicos que tenian como icono artistico a un español, Salvador Dali.
I had great memories to listening this tape! I was at the Montréal concert on June 19 at the Place des Arts. I had only 12 years of age at this time. My two brothers brought me there. It was tuely amazing|!!!!
Hi Miltonboy. Is there any chance you might still have your ticket from the Place des Arts concert?
This has to be one of the best sounding bootlegs around. I assume it is a soundboard recording.
Was living in the area at the time but sadly I missed it. Akash Deep is killer.
Back in those days, I lived within driving distance of this concert, and it is frustrating to have missed it!
+Christopher Scarpino Same here, I feel your pain.
So glad to be able to listen to this again! Was my first TD concert...drove up from Akron with my two best friends. Saw them again in '88 at Nautica (w/ Andy Summers opening) and then in '92 at the Beacon Theatre in NYC. I actually think the Nautica show may have been the best--it had a very intimate, close feel (even though it was outdoors) and Edgar, Paul, and Ralf were unbelievably sharp and really into it that night. I think the '86 show here sounds a little sloppy (granted, sloppy in a brilliant way). By '92 of course they were a different type of band and playing stuff that wasn't so much my style.
Thanks for sharing, I was living in the area, but sadly missed those shows. A huge regret!
1:28:12 This is the track Edgar would playing up there in Heaven!
It's taking epic-ness to epic levels.
Those 80's digital synths certainly had character.
Way to cool Richard, I've been subscribed for a while now and can't imagine how I missed this, this is my first TD concert, I caught it in Chicago at a place called the Metro, TY
Colored rain makes me think of the Philippines at night
Musique before retiring. It were 44 years past...
And when Edgar Froese plugged in his guitar and played through "Ride on the Ray", this was truly beautiful. Great concert.
It is a shame that I will not be able to see Edgar play again, except with concert footage from the past. Still my favorite music to listen to.
Do you recall them playing Akash Deep? I've always been curious how they did the percussion part.
Have not heard this one yet, thanks for sharing!
Drove up from Columbus to see this. They played the ambient birds/zoo tape before they went on stage. Great show. Saw them there back in 1977 also, with Baumann.
Recorded at the Cleveland Convention Center. I'm 35 years old and had never heard of a concert being performed there. Never new that place did them. Interesting bit of local history learned today. Awesome set too, these guys kick ass.
Back in the '70's and 80's this is where the major acts played when in Cleveland. I saw many, many concerts there including the Grateful Dead, Allman Brothers and Lynyrd Skynryd.

Ride On The Ray, wow...
Seems like I remember attending this show at The State Theater, not Convention Center. (?) 88 was Nautica, 92 was Front Row.
It was Music Hall, actually. I was in the third row!
right. I arrived a little late but there's not a bad seat in the house there.. Sad news about Edgar today, eh?
Love Stratosfear 86 great sounds
I wish I had known about TD before it was too late to see them live.
Unfortunately everything after 1987 is pretty much crap this is really the last tour which had Christopher Franke. If you go back a few more years they had their best lineup. IMO the best was from 80-83.
i really like this guitar extended "swing" version or "ride on the ray" but still nothing can beat the original.
Brilliant show, with JS gone they really had to pull it out the bag and boy they did
When CF left a year later TD for me was no longer.
Although a few decent bits thereafter it wasn't the same.
Muy bueno
Hmmm I was there too.. Had a record label guy in my cab and he thought people only went for the lazer show -- Told him how far off he was!!
About at an hour 9 min in i became a butterfly
Also wanted to ask you, if this crazy Co-Vid crap could held at bay for a little while this Summer of 2022, What do you think of the chance of Schmoelling, J. Froese, & Waters, (the band "Loom"), coming to maybe, a limited amount of cities in the States? I'd love to see them....Johannes, though, is not getting any younger
The mid 80's were the period Yamaha released it's FM-based synths like the DX7 and that can be heard in this concert, as some clear Vangelis influences imo . Great stuff.
I hear the Tubular Bells theme around minute 16 ...
Similar yes
How come they only did pilots of purple twilight at this gig and not the rest of the tour?
As far as I know, Pilots was not played on the European tour, but at all gigs on the US tour. The gig at Laguna Hills on June 6, 1986 had it. The boot is called Sonambulistic Imagery and includes all encores (yes, they misspelt it). www.voices-in-the-net.de/sonambulistic_imagery.htm
There are other releases from 1986, but only from the US tour. I don't think I have uploaded a US tour version apart from this one, and Albuquerque. Plus I have bootlegs of shows not on the Trees/Leaves series.

I've just completed my version of Dolphin Dance with the extended mix also. Check it out here Dolphin Dance (Extended) HD ROBLOVE2007
fua diego
so far of genius of "encore". genius is not eternal, not hereditary either, sorry jerome
they are a tangerine dream produced by a loom...
Wouldn't be cool if Loom would at least do some kind a tour in the States before Schmoelling gets any older?.....
