Saw this movie. it was extremely witty and fresh. one of sally's best performances. she makes doris both hilarious and heartbreaking. the jokes always hit. I would see it again.

As soon as I grew my hair color out, the attitudes of younger strangers (salespeople, waitstaff, nurses in doctor's office, etc.) shifted into that crap. Everywhere. The assumptions are staggering.

this movie made my day. Sally Field's performance is out of this world. Sensational movie.
This movie was so good. Made me laugh, and also a bit sad - but sweet and then funny again. Great acting and writing!
I saw the movie last weekend. It broke my heart. Sally Field as Gidget had a crush on an older man and her heart was broken when she found out he was engaged and only saw her as a teenager. This movie reminded me of her angst but now as an adult. The point of the movie is about someone bringing out that spark in you when you are in your darkest time. The excitement of seeing someone that sees the real you when you feel invisible. And finding out that no one can love you unless you love yourself. Age doesn't matter.
Trust me: age matters. IRL.

folladordeprostis these kind of couples are being selfish on both sides. Rich older men realize they can get young flesh, knowing girls will stay with them for their wealth, and young girls pick the rich one for the financial gain. Both playing the game, and both know it...sadly.
What about "The Graduate"? Classic movie.
This movie was utterly charming! The actors had such great chemistry together--Sally Field and Max Greenfield, but also Tyne Daly and Isabella Acres who play Doris' best friend and granddaughter respectively. The movie is about so much more than just dating a younger man and one of the details I loved is that the jokes would have worked if the roles had been reversed (younger woman/older man) or even if they were both the same age, which I think gives it a nice depth.
Yes! I hate that some people are saying that if the genders were reversed it'd be creepy but actually the way the character is portrayed it actually would still work and not be creepy at all. I love this movie and it will forever be one of my all time favorites! 🙌
OctoberVanity Something I thought of later, too, is that in a relationship with the older man/younger woman the older man is usually also her boss so the balance of power is particularly skewed. (Also, if you have a sec, I did a spoiler-free analysis about this on my channel and you may like it if you have a chance to watch!)

Good to see Sally Field didn't go the plastic surgery route like so many other celebrities of her genre have.
One of my favorite things to do after watching movies is to go back and assess how accurately the trailer captures the movie, and this trailer does an excellent job.
I watched this movie knowing nothing about it except that Sally Field was in it. I was pleasantly surprised, it was a fun, cute movie. We watch Doris make one bad decision after another but we can't help but still root for her.

Great performances by all the actors but Sally FIeld what can I say she is truly a legend! the sadness and depth of her down fall for this younger man was just heartbreaking, we all have been in her shoes before! The funny bits are down hilarious! family and friendship issues are so on point! highly recommend this movie!
I came across this movie in the library and enjoyed it a lot. Max Greenfield was great in New Girl and I've always liked Sally Field so this was a great coming of old age film . ❤❤❤❤❤ Loves it and would buy it for sure.
I take one look at Sally Field and realize how beautiful the process of aging is. Every line on her face is gorgeous. If I were a man, and younger, I'd date her. I hope she never gets a facelift or plastic surgery. Her full acceptance of her age makes her more youthful.

This movie is really touching, *SPOILERS*loved especially her meltdown when they tried to move her stuff from her house, her talent (Sally's)shone and left all spectators silent after so many laughs we had had till that moment.
