  • Valheim is 100 times better without a map - this is what you need to thrive without one. Oh, and this is the only nomap guide for Valheim on CZcams right now, so learn well!
    This guide will teach you the basics of the nomap challenge, which disables your ability to pull up your minimap, and forces you to map the world using paths, signs and portals, which become even more important. Now you must navigate using the sun, the moon and the great tree in the sky, Yggdrasil. But there are other secrets you can use to keep your path true in this new immersive journey through Valheim, which you will only find here.
    How to become a nomap Legend:
    1. Watch my video, like it and Sub to my channel.
    2. Log into a new Valheim world.
    3. Turn off your map by clicking F5, typing "nomap" into the command console and smashing ENTER.
    4. Use all the sweet nomap Tips & Tricks I just taught you.
    5. Thank me later ;)
    If you have any other nomap tips and tricks for the community let us know in the comments! And let me know what you thought of the vid!

    How to turn off your map: Before you start the game, in steam, go to Valheim > properties > general and in the text box at bottom type -console , then in game press f5 to open up the command box and type nomap , hit enter and BAM, the map disappears! You type nomap and hit enter again in command box to turn map back on :) THANK ME LATER 😎

    The build hammer compass trick can be used when finding vesvegirs for bosses as well, even inside instanced areas. When you use the vesvegir, a little light will shoot from the vesvegir in the direction of the boss it indicates. That is the true direction tot he boss, so you can use the hammer to orient a piece that way, put it away, leave the instance, and then pop the hammer back out and the build piece will be pointing towards the boss location.

    currently playing on a public server with no maps/ no portals.. gotta say, it really encourages community and working together. Trade feels much more realistic and fun, and i really like the added challenge of remembering landmarks to get around. also, yggdrasil is an excellent way to find direction if you're at sea or something

    What's the point of nomap if your enabling portals?
    I started a NoMap no portals immersive + run and it's been amazing. Best way to play this game. Everything feels much more significantly rewarding and worthwhile. We have a very large portion of the begginer island mentally mapped out and pathed. Found haldor & elder boss ring. Path to that as well.
    Keeping portals out with nomap makes the playthrough extremely nomadic. Always a new outpost. Feels like a linear progression of adventuring "inland" or out to sea.

      I think the emersion of having no map and navigating is fun. And the portals are good for containing the difficulty in a sorta sense. Because you can still Farm and mistlands is way more manageable. Also portals save loads of time, and i think thats an important part of the choice too.

I know the mod author has moved onto other games so he’s probably not going to update it as much anymore, but this is modding for you!

    • @JellyJamBoyGaming
      @JellyJamBoyGaming  Před rokem +1

      Hey thanks for your comment! So both get removed! You can’t use any in game map anymore! Interesting idea for a playthrough. But how on earth do you find bosses? Do you just hope for the best to come across a spawn location? My elder location was pretty freakin far away...

    • @JellyJamBoyGaming
      @JellyJamBoyGaming  Před rokem

      So in no map the vegvisirs for each boss just point you in the right direction to the boss, my advice would be to do the pocket compass trick when you find a boss vegvisir and point it in the direction of the boss location and start travelling as straight as you can! Hardest boss to find is apparently Bonemass! First 2 bosses are quick enough to find. Moder only spawns on HUGE mountains and Yagluth altar can usually be seen from sea!

      @@richarddevenezia8186 hey Richard! No what I meant was when you click a vegvisir in nomap mode, if you leave your mouse and keyboard alone, the game will point your character in the direction of the nearest summon altar for the boss in question. If you follow that straight line then you’ll eventually get to the boss. Does this make sense? :) I would just note the direction it points your character and use this as a guide as you move in the general direction of the boss :)

    @blakewalker84120 Před rokem

    Good tips.
    I think they all work fairly well even if we use a map.
    I don't understand why we wouldn't use a map.
    Fine, maybe it's just a challenge because you like to make your games extra difficult.
    You do you, more power to you.
    Real humans have been making maps since our hairy ancestors figured out how to paint on cave walls, and we never stopped.
    99.9% of humanity never traveled farther than an hour from their home until the last few thousand years, and even then, that number dropped down about about 75% until the last few centuries.
    The few that did travel used a living guide (who had a map) or they made their own map as they went, or maybe bought a map before they left.
    Some did all 3.
    So at the very least, going without a map is not very realistic to what humans do, and have done, throughout all of history.
    Sure, Valheim makes excellent maps extremely easy.
    Way better and way more easy than actual vikings could do it.
    But Valheim also makes it easier to forge iron, make tools, grow crops, cook and eat food, build structures, chop trees, kill trolls, and cast magic spells than real vikings could.
    So I don't see why making maps more easily would be a bad thing when all the other things are easy too.
    Like I said, just doing it to make the game?
    Awesome, more power to you.
    But if you claiming that maps aren't realistic, well, neither is Megingjord, Frostner, trolls, sea serpents, dragons, or anything we can find or make in the mistlands.
    In fact, seafaring explorers who don't make maps are more unrealistic than most of that other stuff.
    Good tips though.
    I like the idea of crisscrossing the island with roads.
