- Valheim is a open world survival crafting game that has taken forever to complete development. So I stopped waiting for the devs to do it, and did it myself with the best mods I could find.

Something comes over me whenever I see heavily snowed/ icy landscapes. I LOVE living in the Deep North, building a small longhouse, camp, forge and just being "lost" in the middle of that tundra, is awesome.

The only problem is a large number of them tend to break each time there's a major Valheim update.

So mods breaking with updates is unfortunately just the nature of modding an early access game, but the other way to think about it is each new update brings new players, and potentially new modders, so that mod you really like that broke forever may have got a better replacement, it’s just the nature of modding in early access 🤷♂️
@@JellyJamBoyGaming Speaking of which, one of the mods you and I were huge fans of was ValheimRaft. In my game, that's one of the mods that's apparently broken, and no longer shows up in the crafting menu.
Yet I saw you sailing on what appeared to be a ValheimRaft ship. Is that from an old world save, or is it a different mod?
@@henrywinckelmusic1177 this is ValheimRaft yes! So this video is actually from footage that’s a few months old, that I finally edited into a single storyline, so that’s how I got it to work! I haven’t tried using the mod again as I currently only have an Xbox after moving countries! 🙈

It looks like JTV is no longer updated so It doesnt work with the hildir request update, Do you think there is a way to backpedal updates to valheim and other dependent mods to get it to work? thanks
Hey! Pretty sure you can do that through steam and pick a beta and go back to a beta that’s compatible, other thing you could do is go to the defsides YT channel and beg him to update, he also has a discord server for the mod pack

@@JellyJamBoyGaming I've been massaging with a collection of over 100+ mods all combined, stripped of fluff, and tweaked to attempt to keep the vanilla feel. Just started working on some custom POI's with spawners to expand the biomes. My son has been working on helping me create new biomes (colorful crystal islands contrasted with a black lava landscape protected by dragons) . It was Monsternomicon and Expand World that gave me the influence to start working on my own mods. When we get it completed, I'll reach out to you to share.

does this overhaul still works with the latest patch?
Hi, I just installed the mod pack, all following the steps in your channel video, but I can't access it. Once the character is created, I create the new world, and when I click on, it stays in the menu, never accessing the world, idk why, some ideas?
The mod pack is pretty old, I would recommend going on the modpack discord and asking the mod author called the defside, he also has a yt channel, the discord is called the modding corner, hope this helps! My guess is that he hasn’t updated the mod pack in a long time and it doesn’t work with the current version of the game :(

The flametal weapons work better in the north, and the frost ones are better in ashlands. Use their elemental weaknesses against them
The thing about it is farming said materials, the enemy hit so hard even with upgraded abysall armor, and that pixie thing is a Gatlin gun in disguise. It's like 2.4 frost bolts per second coming at you lol.

Haha well before that I've got another video I've almost finished which was a much longer challenge for Valheim recorded before the Ashlands update.
It's taken me ages but it is almost done now. If/when you watch it, there's a part where I named my loxes after some people and there was one called "Jelly" and another called "Jam Boy". Idk if their names will ever be visible but just know they were there!

How is it that a modder, usually 1 person , with little to no financial support,can create these mods in such a short time,yet it takes the dev team with millions and all the logistics ,years to dribble out slithers of content?

I don’t understand why an area is made in game
The only biome’s in vanilla Valheim that make sense are the Meadows and Mountains. In the mountains you mine silver. Werewolves are weak to silver. Makes sense.
If the Ashlands is being developed and Great North is being developed….. they should be developed and released simultaneously.
Not because “WE” as gamers think we deserve something. No. Because it makes logical f***ing sense. Both biome’s should be accessible near end game with potion’s and some of the gear you have but it should only mitigate the damage. Because you should need to mine materials in each of the different biome’s to counteract each other.
Flametal or flame ore and food should be used in the North while Northern supplies should be used in the Ashlands.
Heat to keep you warm. Flame to kill ice enemies
Ice armour to withstand the immense heat and ice magic to battle the Hellfire
I actually completely agree. I’m an ideal world they would release both simultaneously, but I think the majority of people would be upset with having to wait for that instead of just waiting for each one at a time. You should share your thoughts with the devs on the Valheim discord, as they actually listen to us!

I just think in a game like this that uses teleportation and potions. They could easily make a fire/frost upgrade potion to help combat the elements and enemies.
And I think it just makes basic common sense to have to farm armour and weapons in one biome to use in the other.
I mean killing a any kind of frozen enemy/creature with cold damage is preposterous

They will blow us away I’m sure. This is just a showcase of what the modding community has come up with while we wait for the devs to finish the game, I personally think it’s more than enough additional content to keep me going while I wait for dev updates, and that’s why I shared this story.

You know the original WoW is more of an adventure game than anything. Valheim, too, has time-wasting mechanisms, and is in general a very grindy game where you very tangibly level up. Both games are renowned for their strong freeform gameplay despite the time investment. Of course people want Valheim to continue to grow and offer new opportunities for adventure with a wider variety of biomes, enemies, and items.
@@neattricks7678 time wasting mechanisms ? In WoW you have to grind a lot. to make some item you have to grind ores, farm dungeons. All the time the same ores and dangeons in loop. If valheim is very grindy game then minecraft is a scam lol.
@@dimatall Yes it is a grindy game and yes Minecraft is even more as it’s far less streamlined. Have you played the original WoW? The renowned adventure game.
@@neattricks7678 what do u mean original wow? Classic? I played from classic to lich king. It is adventure when you come first time to raids. But to get some item you have to farm the same raid tens of times. How it can be less grindy than valheim??
@@dimatall I think you are misunderstanding something about my point, the raids are a post-game thank you. The real game is about questing in an open world. The raids have nothing to do with it. Most were added long after the game came out. Molten Core was made in one week. Of course this part of the game will be grindy - because it was made in a rush with hopes to keep people with nothing better to do occupied. And this is what Blizzard did wrong with the game over the years and transformed it into what it is now.
