Kevin, thanks for this podcast and for sharing honest opinion on playing in Barys. No doubt, you made huge contribution to the team along with Bochenski, Daws, Boyd and others. Even from the sport popularisation perspective that was a good idea initially… But it’s true, that local players are at lower level as per skill concerns. However, it’s also true that they didn’t get enough time to practice in games, because most of time you guys played - again, GM needed to win and to do so, he would use your skills at most. And yes, we all (fans as well) expected you to play and score, but as you rightly mentioned, you were paid way more than locals, you were getting most ice time and not often you could produce results. So the expectations from both GM and fans were huge.
Now Barys is playing it the other way around, making sure locals get most ice time. Surely, the club is lagging behind, but it needs time. If we always rely on “imports” as you say, then the situation won’t change. This year our national team did pretty well on international level with only Kazakhs on the team. I guess this is the right way to do. Again, thanks for your contribution, but only locals might play for our country with true heart and dedication, same goes for playing for Barys.
for the offside rule, Why not just have a 10 second timer on it?
This will keep the initial intent of the rule (egregious offside misses on the rush), while eliminating the scavenger hunt for minute and a half old offsides after sustained zone time.

Pinto Suspension seems like we are missing info. Offsides should take 30 seconds. On ice ref gets to look at it 2x in real time or 1x in .5 speed. If not enough, call stands.

Wit is nuts if a team is stuck in there zone and just gets it over the blueline it still helps. Leave the blueline alone as for the offsides I'm open to ideas but if your offsides your offsides.

I’ve always thought they should make the blue line thinner that way the puck crosses into the zone faster and negates a lot of the close offsides especially with the speed of the game now, or make the the blue line part of the offensive zone and use the edge of the blue line touching the neutral zone as the indicator for offsides like they do if the puck is already in the zone, enough of this flip flopping leading edge crap in the rule. That way if you see blue between the puck and the neutral zone it’s onside.

I worked at Damish hospital as it was torn down where they filmed parts of one flew over the kookoos nest was filmed(basketball,group therapy sessions).anyway the night watchman said in the morgue on one of the locker things on the inside had fingernail scratches down to the copper of the stainless steel.i went inside the building creepiest place EVER! same green walls but abandoned and chipped I wouldn't go in the rooms too freaky, bad juju!

I am from Astana where Dawes started his Khl career (Hockey club Barys) and I can assure you him with Boyd and Bochenski were unstoppable, Ellison played I believe for Metallurg (Malkin’s team)

Logan is gonna be just fine. As someone who lives in Phoenix and the Yotes being my second team (born a Flyers fan and will die one😉)... In a sense... Being a high draft pick Rookie and being in Az... No pressure on the kid. Put him in Philly (he just broke my heart hearing he might have been A Flyer) or Toronto...Boston. Intense hockey towns... It can chew up young men. On the other hand...poor kid is stuck playing in an Ontario Senior Whale shit Barn! Freaking embarrassing the Yotes are playing at ASU. Couple of buddies keep say...man its great. Its so intimate..like seeing a band at rhe Whisky or CBGBs. Yea...no. Not in the NHL. Just freaking embarrassing.

what's really sad is that whit has the balls to say that this kid didn't mean it is pretty insane . look at this kids past. if this was an nhl game and a guy lifted his leg like that to Sidney Crosby they would say it's the dirtiest hit ever. which in fact this was the dirtiest move ever in a hockey game. this is something that should be talked about because a lot of hot headed athletes out there play recklessly with 0 regard to others safety. and this is exactly how this pettgrave plays. no body talks about that.

They should only be able to reverse a goal on an offside if it’s been within 10 seconds that the goal was scored
Surprised to hear Bettman didn’t want offsides challenges. I figured he was behind it. In defending rule people keep talking about “blatant” offsides. Almost every single one I’ve seen minuscule and I’ve b yet to see one where it has any effect on the goal being scored. So the
league thinks it’s necessary to take away the immediate excitement when your team scores to make sure legit goals are overturned and blatant offsides, that happen once a season, don’t determine an outcome of a game. If coaches weren’t allowed to use a replay guy, they wouldn’t be challenging any of these goals. Eliminate the use of replay.
