- TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger joins John Lu to discuss why the Avalanche are going back to Alexandar Georgiev in net despite a rough performance against the Jets in the series opener, Connor Hellebuyck's ability to bounce back for Winnipeg, and adjustments the Jets are looking to make in Game 2.

Dreger and Lu were really good in this segment.
The only reason Fourgiev plays game 2 is because Annunen is sick. They also recalled Prosvetov.
After watching that game, it's just nice to hear someone say Georgiev instead of HURRR DURR GORGEV. I'm still trying to find out who this Nick Chewskin they kept talking about is.
Goal tending will be what it takes in this round and it already shows
The Oilers did this with Skinner last year against Vegas. That was a mistake that cost us the series. Avs, don't make the same mistake. Goalies on a cold streak should not be relied upon, period. Start Proseltov is Annunen isn't available.
Campbell came in for relief for twenty minutes and barely faced any shots, and soilers fans think he magically transformed into prime Roy 🙄
If he was so good, I'd think the organization wouldn't have him buried in the minors.
@@PeterDixon734 he came in again, and again, and again, faced a bunch of shots over those three combined. Most coaches would have at least tried him. But no, Woody buried his head in the sand and stayed the course.
@@dragoniv 100% correct. Skinner was pulled 3 times and they still went with him in game 6. Campbell did well in relief. Coach may of cost them the series, definitely cost them a chance in game 6..
Dreger started out at CKX in Brandon.
Whats helly rebounding from? Making over 40 saves and winning?
He makes 40 saves most games if you actually pay attention. Jets D is goos, but they give up a lot of shot. He was the worst goalie by far that wasn't his best performance. Avs goalie just choked.
Helle rebounds REALLY good, but after the sunday win, he was chipper in the post game interview and didn't looked shaked as well, and all the players all admitted that their poor defensive play was the reason for the 6 Avs goals. He is in the perfect mind space right now
@slothythebadger7726 Helly played worse than Georgiev? Lay off the smack. "Choked" lmao yeah he couldn't save a shot you mean.
@@itsapplesaucetoaboss8216 Well, enjoy gerogiev because he's starting again
People keep talking about Annunen letting in 3 on 11. The dude was thrown into a crap game. 4 had already been scored on a defeated looking team. Do you think Justus went in at the top of his mental game? Hell no. The dude was thrown into a bad game. The team had already given up. 4-0 late. Of course he played bad. This game one was awful. If annunen isn’t available I’d play the other, prosvetov or whatever his spelling is. He lets in 3 weak goals, play Georgiev, or vice versa. Or play Georgiev. With his stupid inconsistency he may get a shutout. If that’s the case, don’t play him game 3 because it’ll be another blow out.
Jets in 5
Bednar fired the next day
Avs fix goaltending next year
Landeskog comes back
Avs win the presidents trophy
I'm very afraid of this.
Everything except Bednar getting fired. He's the coach, doesn't control the roster. The GM failed in not giving him a good goalie to play.
@@reallyfrodo there are like 5 goalies employed by this team so therefor 4 goalies better to play
@@ObscureReference9
Holm was the Manitoba Moose goalie. (the Jets AHL team)... thus not a better option.
Proseltov has a .881% with a 3.70 GAA... not a better option (or barely a better option)
Annunen let in 3 goals on 11 shots vs Jets his last appearance. ... not a better option (or barely a better option)
I don't know the 5th goalie (4th being Georgiev)... but clearly there are no better options! no goalie that is a game changer!!!
@@Matt-nj1yh 696 sv%. Landeskog in street hockey gear could beat that.
@@ObscureReference9 it's amazing how the uneducated always resort to hypotheticals. at the end of the day, the only thing for certain is that the AVS are simply not good enough as a combined team. there is a massive weakness that must be addressed before they are true contenders for the cup. no more copium. the AVS are not good enough to win.
Mackinnon already is "the leagues top 3 point producer" he still cannot make a difference in this series. $12.6 million and he cannot compete with a team without anybody earning more than $8 million. goes to show why greedy players ruin teams!
We need a goalie big time not fair for there all star players
makes me sad and makes me shake my head because i bet we could of got flower wouldnt of took much and signed him for another year and gave 4geive the boot ,if he doesnt post a shutout or a 1 goal performance then were in deep shit ,god just perfect timing for juice to be sick :( we went 100% on the pp kept the jet to 23 shots and they throw up 7 2 of those sure bad giveaways but like come on the other 5 like just no
Go jets go 🎉
of course juice is still sick dammmmit
Jets in 5 or 6!!
Avs fans are butthurt about their goalies' performance (or lack thereof), but letting in that many goals against the Jets is on par with their season against them. It was Hellebuyck who let in more than usual/had a rough night. During the regular season, the Jets scored 17 goals in 3 games against the Avs (5.6 goals/game average) while the Avs scored 4 goals in 3 games (1.3 goals/game average). Based on those stats alone, it's clear to me that the Jets should be more upset about goaltending issues than the Avs as their goalie (Gorgiev) performed as expected. Go ✈️ Go!!
You gotta look at the numbers though… Helle stopped 40/46 shots last night. Georgiev stopped 16/23. When you let your goalie get lit up like that, you have to expect goals. It’s not a goalie issue for the jets, nor should they be concerned about it. They have to figure out how to limit the Avs chances.
@@iflyplanes687 something similar happened in 2021 when the Jets faced off against the soilers. He backstopped them to a sweep of those clowns.
jizzyaymz is right, Helle had an off night but then again, the entire team didn't come out flying in the first, which might've affected Helle's confidence.
@@iflyplanes687 Yeah the numbers show the Jets won by 1 with the best goalie in the league against the worst goalie in the playoffs. Why is that not being mentioned by anyone?
Goalies' tennis love,
Georgiev and Hellebuyck

the jets cant stop the avs offense. its simple, they cant keep up. but it doesnt matter if the avs lose the tendy battle.
The AVs wasted a great opportunity in Game 1 in which Hellebuyck was uncharacteristically terrible.
Hellebuyck has to be better too.
Avs came in hungry the Jets beat them 7-0 at home the last time they met!!
He had a SV% of .925 at even strength. The PK needs to be better
Out of the 6 goals against, I would say 2 of them were on him, and the other 4 were the poor defensive play to be blamed. Helle played really good in my opinion. If the Jets can play more their style, then the Avs should be in trouble.
He's going back to Georgiev simply because he has no other goalie to turn to. Annunen is not 100% and has less than 10 starts to his name. Arvid Holm has no starts to his name. So Georgiev is the only option.
The Avs really seemed unprepared once they lost Francouz to injury.
Prosvetov was recalled. Fourgiev will get pulled in game 2.
Francouz has been injured since last season so that doesn't make any sense

In my opinion, only one of the goals that Georgiev allowed was questionable.
The beating avs will get in denver will be even worse. Their line matchups are going to leave the 84 goal machine second line unattended. 2nd line combines for 10points in game 3
Georgiev... 7 goals in 20+ shots.
Annunen ... 3 goals in 11 shots.
Holm... didn't even get a chance vs JETS.
It doesn't matter who AVS put in net, they are ALL statistically terrible.
Proseltov has a .881% with a 3.70 GAA... that's not exactly good!
enough with the annunen 3 goals on 11 shots he was brought in cold to a shit game , hes played better than georgie down the stretch faced more shots and got b2b shutouts and should be starting if healthy,in that same game 4giev let in ya 4 on what 9 shots .
@@tophercabba enough with the coping. deal with it. AVS haven't been able to beat the Jets all season! He won't be able to become the game changer you are hoping for! enjoy the golf course losers!
@@tophercabba Your $12 million "superstar" is an expensive, greedy super ghost. With all that money, he still cannot lead the team to a win! I thought he was good, but I guess not good enough!
Jets in 4. Avs haven't won a single game against them all year and will not.
People like you need to just watch the sport and not comment at all. Regular season means nothing when it comes to playoffs. The Jets barely won last night with dare I say a little help from the refs (that whistle before the Avs 6th goal was bs)
@@Emma_2Banks "The Jets barely won last night" the avs were hurting from that 7-0 spanking in Denver that's what motivated them. Clearly the Jets are good Avs can't beat em lol
@@LGR910I thought Canadians knew about hockey? Why do you all have terrible takes? LOL
@@Alx-lt5ei bro the avs literally havent beaten the jets at all this year, isnt that concerning... even for a bit
@@treboroat3026 No? Regular season records are completely meaningless come playoff time. The Avs should be more concerned about being down 1-0 in this series than anything that happened in the regular season.
