The Rafale, with its “Omnirole” capabilities, is the right answer to the capability approach selected by an increasing number of governments.
It fully complies with the requirement to carry out the widest range of roles with the smallest number of aircraft.
The Rafale participates in permanent “Quick Reaction Alert” (QRA) / air-defense / air sovereignty missions, power projection and deployments for external missions, deep strike missions, air support for ground forces, reconnaissance missions, pilot training sorties and nuclear deterrence duties.
The Air Force single-seat Rafale C, the Air Force two-seat Rafale B, and the Navy single-seat Rafale M feature maximum airframe and equipment commonality, and very similar mission capabilities.

For many governments, if the choice for buying fighter come from the pilot, the choice would be in favor of the Rafale fighter instead of F35, or Gripen or Typhoon.

It will be there to replace mig 21, jaguar, mig 29, all light fighter jets.
It has 70% of rafale' s power and very cheap in price too.
Also there will be competition between Rafale and TEDBF / AMCA. Not with tejas mk 2.
So overall, tejas mk 2 will be a deadlier dude in its class in comparison to all light fighter jets in the whole world

In modern warfare scenario Tejas mk2 will have upper hand against Rafale and any 4.5 gen aircraft, because Tejas mk2 have the lowest RCS of any 4.5 gen aircraft currently in service. Which means Tejas Mk2 will be able to detect and lock them first

The Tejas MK2 should be produced by the private sector companies. They are postponing the start of production again. They can also be starting to produce the first couple of batches on the Tejas export line. Export is highly unlikely to get up to a high level, US engines so they can block sales and avionics from Israel which is not received well by most countries that can't buy western aircraft.
The price of the Rafale is about 100-120 million dollars. The rest of the price is training, spare parts and weapons. Unlike Russian aircraft they are provided with spares weapons and about a decade of maintenance support. Russian aircraft don't have spares or support.
