  • C4RBN (pronounced "Carbon") is a 4/2-Pole State Variable Filter with input saturation, output wavefolding, and more. It features a wide range of character from nice and clean filter sounds to screaming, squelchy, acidic mayhem.
    C4RBN builds on WMD’s history with state-variable filters (uHadron Collider, Protostar, MMF) adding interface refinements and improved warm environment stability for live performance and beyond. A novel input saturation circuit plus the output wavefolder from WMD’s classic SYNCHRODYNE filter pair together to push the timbral flexibility to the next level. C4RBN is the building block to life in your eurorack.
    In this video, Alex takes use through the sounds and features and creates a patch using C4RBN as the main filter for the eurorack voice.

    Nice dynamic patching with sat/fold, ping, FM and different gate rhythms feeding the modulation of those things.

    wow, wavefolding, saturation and ping and then on top that nifty little feature with the switching modes, a must have. love it.

    Almost bought the old MMF, but it looks like I'll be doing a pre-order of this soon! What a dope new filter!!!

    Best filter for the space hands down. The options for live performance are awesome!

    I Just got this filter and it sounds amazing. Sounding nice and snappy for plucky stab sounds and the resonance sounds lovely and squelchy when cracked up. I got it because I wanted a nice and compact filter but it's perfect combination of size and features. Nice introduction to WMD modules. Cheers

    Great sounding filter! I'm just starting to get into modular and looking for my first filter. 😁
    The technique you show at 10:50 is so sweet! Thanks for the easy-to-understand breakdown of how you are doing it.
    Much respect! 😁🙏👊

    That thing is a live performance beast with that button hold that queues up the filter change. Pretty slick. A shame the pandemic hurt WMD. Thanks for the video.

    I wonder what a "W3M0D3" build would sound like: Metron, Javelin, another Javelin+C4RBN, Timewarp. Then throw some classic acid patterns at it and try to recreate the original sounds. This could be 303 on steroids with full automation - IF you can nail the sound. If WMD would put that as a "sour challenge" and succeed, my wallet will be plundered :D

    I was about to but the MMF for my main filter. How does the C4rbon compare? It looks like it can be a replacement with added extras

    (somebody please tell me you got that)

    this module goes unbelievably hard. you crushed it with this one. also the all black rocks.
    is the filter character in the same realm as the MMF was? kinda hard for me to tell not having them in front of me haha i suppose it’s sort of a successor to it and then some?

    This is soooo nice! I think it just snagged the top spot for must have filters in my list. Question about the HP filter - does it not fully cut when opened up completely? It sounded like it was still present and you were at the max. Also the wavefolder - is there any way to adjust the amount of wavefolding like saturation?

    Was looking to buy a WMD/SSF MFF, but this looks like an upgraded version. Are there things the MMF can do and the C4rbn can't?

    hi guys, great video! is there any cv for envelopes on the filter ?

    • @WMDevices
      @WMDevices  Před 3 lety

      The FM input is best suited for Envelopes, yes!

  • @AndrewPRoberts
    @AndrewPRoberts Před 3 lety

    Does this have the switch on the back like the MMF, where you can put the ping through the fm circuit?

    • @WMDevices
      @WMDevices  Před 3 lety

      No, the ping input is directly wired to the fitler freq on this one.

    • @AndrewPRoberts
      @AndrewPRoberts Před 3 lety

      @@WMDevices Okay, so there's no adjustment with the ping at all, it's kind of all or nothing?

  • @JubileeGiggles
    @JubileeGiggles Před 3 lety

    I REALLY wish there could be a linear mode added to your through-zero fm on your filters. I have your mmf, and I thought with self resonance I was on the road to a 4hp through-zero linear oscillator with 1v/0 tracking. Argh

  • @PspiralifeTutorials

    Can you use the wavefolder without having to have any filtering at the same time?

    • @WMDevices
      @WMDevices  Před 3 lety +1

      Sure, the wavefolder is on the output so if you turn the cutoff all the way up, you will just hear the wavefolder...

    is this firmware updatable? I propose that then you're holding the button to switch modes,the light should blink

  • @MikeHudsontek

    How is it fully analog when there's an STM32 in there?

    • @Space_pulse
      @Space_pulse Před 3 lety

      I’m assuming that’s a micro-controller that adjusts gain for resonance compensation? A little bit of digital ain’t gonna kill ya. Lol

    • @Space_pulse
      @Space_pulse Před 3 lety

      Actually, I think it might be for temperature compensation on the V/Oct input, so this will track when self-oscillating. Or maybe both.

    • @glnnk_art
