Why did Firefly/Sam become a Stellaron Hunter? (Honkai Star Rail 2.1 Full Penacony Lore and Story recap)
still going over Honkai Star Rail 2.1 and the Trailblaze Story Quest featuring Penacony mission called The Devil in Velvet was a bit of a banger obviously chalked full with exciting lore, in it we learned more about the deaths of robin and firefly, gained some insight into acheron motives, and perhaps even saw Sundays death towards the end of the game. gallagher somehow despite being a 4 star became the most important character. robin looks to still be alive, and firefly is sam and we saw boothill and the everflame mansion come into play, jade has made an appearance and we learned alot about aventurine lore and his story. and yet despite this very little noise has been regarding sparkle and the ever flame mansion, despite the fact that both appeared, sparkle did her usual thing and we got constance and duke inferno footage so idk. and no one has really been speaking on firefly and sam with regards to their relationship with the stellaron hunters, which they are apart of, but what are firefly's reasons for becoming one in the first place? and just a bit more about her lore in general

The difference between Blade and Sam is that Blade is more versatile. Yeah, both kill, but one is immortal. You can more risky with Blade. He wants to die, so either way is good, while Sam wants to live and probably has a time limit on how much she can act. It would explain why she is so merciless. Even Blade takes its time with his enemies.
It's not that she's merciless, it's just that she is like that be more efficient no time waste , straight to the point .
It’s funny to imagine Firefly saying all of Sam’s lines. The edginess sounds cool coming from Sam but it’s hilarious when it comes from Firefly. “Once you’re back in the real world, remember to tell everyone about the Stellaron Hunter who was behind your ultimate departure” lmaooo.
Yeah Firefly's VA actually did that during the 'One Night in Penacony' event and yeah. It WAS hilarious.

@@DawitsLookingforEmilia yeah I saw both. Firefly’s VA did it at an event but Sam’s VA did it cause why not and I find that so funny. I love watching videos of the VAs interacting or doing things related to Star Rail cause it’s so damn hilarious. Seele’s VA collabs with many of the other ones often enough and the results are hilarious.

Blade could be considered to have a “speciality” unlike Sam. Blade has the ability and knowledge to forge powerful weapons as seen from those of the high cloud quintet, as well as his special ability of being unable to die, making him able to do things without being taken down.
Also, he was trained by Jing Liu in swordsmanship.
I thought his specialty was in getting clapped by everyone, including Sam, Dan Heng, Jingliu, the trailblazer, whoever captured him on the Xianzhou in the beginning, etc.
The flaw in this is that his character story (Part IV) explicitly states that his hands can no longer forge weapons and that he no longer has the desire to do so anymore. I think Elio only was referring to Blade's immortality, which makes him an incredibly useful asset in dangerous life-or-death scenarios.
Here's a quote directly from character story:
"He thought about how his hands were no longer dexterous. The hands that could no longer forge another weapon. ---But none of this mattered to him. From this moment on, that body will be the one and only 'Blade' ".
I interpreted his 'specialty' as being unable to actually die. Sam presumably hits harder blow for blow, but Blade just won't stay down. (Also IIRC his ability to forge weaponry is shot since his hands lost all dexterity. He can swing them but can't really make them any more)
I've recently been exploring the idea that potentially Firefly is Titania herself.
The reason why is because she tells Acheron she's unable to dream.
I think this specifically is the keyword because while the cavalry was "dreaming" Titania would have been the one who is "awake" to upkeep their dream.
To further go into this it would also explain her name aswell as her appearance.
Titania is the Empress of Fairies, Fairies are classically depicted to have butterfly wings, which Sam is shown to have.
Firefly too has a lot of childlike wonder much like a Fairy.
Another point being another obvious one, if she was Titania, it would explain how she was able to escape Glamoth as she would have been the only one who was "lucid" enough to flee.
A final point is another thing she says during the Acheron conversation.
Acheron asked her if she dreams about the people she *killed*
However Sam replies with different wording mentioning "All the people *who died because of me*"
This is another noteworthy point because if she truly was Titania this rewording would make a lot of sense as Firefly is telling us she feels guilty about all the Iron Cavalry she sent out to die against the Swarm.

i really like the last point about the dreaming. her sense of morality regarding villains could have something to do with the council holding her "captive" hence why shes hard on them, more so then others.
Elio promised her that in her *short lifespan* she would find something of meaning. That’s why she joined the stellaron hunters. And I doubt Titania would have a short lifespan since she had to command armies for decades.
the sam wanting life thing comes from blade’s voiceline about him. while the current one is different, it was originally leaked (and theres even a voice file for this) as “While I chase death, he chases life.”

I feel like Silver Wolf being they who challenge life and Sam/Firefly being they who inquire meaning makes the most sense, seeing how Silver Wolf sees the world as a game for her to win, and Firefly kept asking questions about herself during our conversation.
As you mentioned, hackers from Punklorde see life as a game, and their end goal is to finish it in their own way. In a literally sense, challenging life. Also, during the conversation with Firefly at her special place, she keeps bringing up various questions about herself and Penacony, such as "Why does life slumber?" and "Why do people choose to sleep?", so I'm guessing she seeks answers to her questions, hence 'inquiring meaning'

To be fair, "Why does life slumber?" and "Why do people choose to sleep?" are two re-occuring questions deeply linked with Penacony as a whole, not just Firefly. Both Aventurine and Acheron pose the same questions and each have their own answers.
There's a theory that suggests that Firefly is actually Titania, as alot of her behaviour of "going against the script" and not wanting to heed "doctor's advice" is very similar to Titania rebelling against the scientists who created her.
Firefly is likely trying to see if she's anything more than just a killer mecha who follows orders with deadly efficiency; if she can find a new meaning for her life.

My theory for how Elio plans to help Firefly with her condition is through the death of Nanook the Destruction. It fits in the narrative, as the Entropy Loss Syndrome is a condition that slowly destroys any difference between a person's body and the rest of the universe, making them fade away at a certain point of their life.
Elio's plan, or rather 'Script', could have always been about killing Nanook, and turning The Destruction into The Finality (making yet another parallel to the world of Honkai Impact 3rd), and he could have simply seen in one of his visions that a remnant of the Iron Cavalry, "Sam", was capable of finishing simple orders and Elio's short 'Scripts', so he sought "Sam" out to employ "him". Especially since "Sam" would very likely agree to Elio's deal, due to the possibility that the Entropy Loss Syndrome may have been caused by Nanook.

Could just be me, but since Firefly cant dream, maybe thats why Silver Wolf is with her at Penacony. We know that you can temper with the Dream World from the outside, Silvee Wolf gave us coordinates that we put in the dream-bubble pool thing that puts us in the dreamstate.
SW just, hacks the mainframe to put Firefly in there (thats why you also don't see Firefly's data in the Bloodhound Databank)
To me it feels like that there is a possibility that the Watchmaker Legacy can "cure" the Entropy Loss Syndrome, they dont just mentiom that in 2.0 and not follow-up on it later in the story, they have to be connected somehow
As far as Silver Wolf goes, I think her searching for meaning is related to how she views life as just a game. If life is just a game, what is the purpose of it, really?

Ive seen others float some convincing ideas that suggest Firefly is Titania, while im still unsure of the whole idea, that would certainly be a reason. However so far as we know, the way Elio picks people is still a bit of a mystery I think? All I know for certain is that Silver Wolf caught the attention of Elio after one of her hacker battles with Screwllum, so Elio is certainly after capable individuals

Because I agree with what you said in the video- it’s hard to just say she’s Titania with what we know for now…Anyhow, I’m just excited for more of her backstory in the next patch 😃

Side note, I was doing some reading on the history of Glamoth and I’m becoming more convinced that almost the entire Iron Cavalry is gone. The planar set says their civilization faded away. So maybe Sam is one of the only survivors of the Cavalry who is still alive. Maybe that’s why they were chosen?
Kafka has a special ability called “spirit whisper” which allows her to manipulate others with her words. So in a sense she can see what’s in their heart.

My theory is that Firefly and Sam are actually two different people, but came together as one. They have very different personalities, and because Firefly has a debilitating condition, she probably agreed to "merge" with Sam, but they are still have their own will and agenda

At some point we apparently met blade as we were with Kafka at some point, but something I was wondering.
Were we a tagalong or maybe something else.
Also firefly’s introduction pulled at my heart positively, and when death “killed” her I needed a minute as my heart sank
When Sam was introduced I was excited and happy again. The fight was fun, and his asctetic was amazing and I was enamored with him.
Finding out they were one and the same and my theory was correct made a tear fall from my cheek from pure happiness that she was alive.
I wonder if there are more Stellaron Hunters out there? We have every known member revealed, but if Kafka's splash art is anything to go by, there should be 7 members total, plus one cat.

@@DawitsLookingforEmilia the only other reason I say this is because the Databank has an ellipsis regarding the names of each member; wouldn't make sense for the ellipsis to only be for Kafka.

It's the green fairy(insect) wings theme that makes people link her to Titania most likely. Personally though, I think she might be back-up/incomplete/flawed Empress. You just don't make a system that's highly dependent on a central unit like that without redundancy plans. That way when she says she's born without the ability to dream, it means she was created a failure... or perhaps it was a feature they removed due to signs of Titania developing unneeded sentiments that let to revolt, so she could been designed to command without it. It's also possible that the Iron Calvary just cannot dream in absence of an Empress, but Firefly seems to have never dreamed at all. So if she is a knight, she would be either a defect that would be disposed off or designed for a post-revolt time... but if she's a copy Empress there's good reason to keep her around just in case.
Either way she likely was never deployed during the days where the Iron Calvary was still functioning... or at least never saw action in its final days which is why she's fuzzy about whether it was the Swarm or Legion that destroyed her home. She would be more of an failure that never had the chance to fulfill any purpose she was created for... hence she's searching for a meaning to her bleak existence.

well, she states her part of the script was to "get the Astral Express Crew involved with the Watchmaker's Legacy". We were still on our toes when we got to Penacony, and there could be an argument that, had we not met Firefly and then been trolled by Sparkle and then witnessed Firefly's "death", we wouldn't have accepted Aventurine's proposal. If we hadn't accepted Aventurine's proposal, we'd probably end up in a much more minor role within the hunt for the Legacy.
Firefly is a Tenno, and Sam is her Warframe. At least, that’s the vibes.
I think the difference in role between Sam and blade is the attack scale. Blade seems more the head hunter/ assassin/ single Target type while Sam is big destruction and good for intimidation. Basically Sam is the visible sword of Elio and blade the hidden one (one hint to that is his disguise on that one silver wolf 4 star light cone).
Also, it kinda makes sense with her entrophy syndrome why she is such a brute outside of the dreamscape, she doesn't have the time to think/ to contemplate. It also makes sense in response to her leaked kit that says her speed is extremely boosted during Sam Phase. The Sam Armor boosts her physical speed which equals out with her slowing body so she appears to move at normal speed. And now comes even more theory, i think we heal her in 2.3 at least because her mechanics and because of her weapons. So far we know Sam to always use his fists, but based on drip marketing he's now using swords, fist fighting makes sense for someone with her handicap, it's straight forward and adaptable without much needed for preparation, that's different for swords. (There is obviously still the possibility of Clones, if you look at the Sam mask in her drip it looks different from the Sam we know right now and uses different flames but it's what i want to believe)
I understand your reasoning for Silver Wolf being "The one who challenges life" but I do think it applies more to Firefly at this point, depending on what more we learn in 2.2 and further that could change
Do one of how the trailblazer used to be in the Stellaron hunters. I feel as though there are actual evidence presented in the game that support this but I haven’t seen anyone make a lore video dedicated to it.
From kafka companion quest blade talk about remembering the mc and how they used to follow kafka aside from that not much else
yea the kafka quest is all we have to go on, blade says MC to follow Kafka on missions but he never really indicated to us whether we were once a hunter too

We can't have recruited Kafka, because she explicitly tells us that Elio sent her to fetch us. Therefore Kafka was a Hunter before the Trailblazer, making it impossible for us to enter under Elio's wing before she does.
I wonder how Firefly is alive because if you think about it the Swarm Diaster was like 1000+ years ago. You’d think she would be dead by now, or look very old, yet physically looks like a young adult. I am very curious, but my theory is that it is similar to Aang where she was physically frozen or something like that, and was broken free by maybe Elio.

bruh u know whats wild I read this earlier when i was shopping but read it as elio BEING finality and was like "hmm let me think about this". emanator makes more sense lol but whether its finality is a mystery simply because we know very little about finality other then terminus moves through time and whispers about a prophecy, which ig is kinda what elio does? says prophecies (although its a bit different then that lol)
My personal opinion is entirely that, the wiki dudes were right, from the perspective of the Stellaron Hunter's it's made abundantly clear Silver Wolf joined "for fun" and has brought up how there was a potential future in her trying to join the express before the Stellaron Hunters showed up requesting for her, and it showcases how she doesn't seemingly have enough drive/passion in most things, and with the future Elio wants, it most likely will give her that same motivation
And Firefly is damn near destined to die at this point, so her going against life makes the most sense considering how she most likely needs the suit to function

I feel like that's a bit weird if we think about Kafka's recruitment script (at least if it indeed is Sam who got the orders, and not someone else who we never met (and/or who is fkn dead)).
The line about "You will die, but I'll realize the future you want" is really weird: like, good luck making the future where she lives if she's dead. Ask Blade how this turned out for his buddies.
@@ArioTBP There's also a ton of hints in the interactions that the Trailblazer has with the Stellaron Hunters that very much points to TB having been one of them before the Herta Space Station, such as Silver Wolf mentioning how we used to be gaming buddies, and a lot of the stuff from Kafka's companion mission point to this. It's likely that the Trailblazer's current body has remnants of a previous Stellaron Hunter like a memoria or something like that. That's why SW and Kafka said we would remember Kafka, and Blade remembers us following after Kafka on her missions, but we look different now

So there still are more Hunters we don't know (who may or may not be dead, or maybe this was a one-time job offer from Elio to some disposable mercenary)
If that's not your point, though, then sure. Kafka pretty much taught us everything we know/(knew?), and Blade, being the old senile mara-struck he is, even remembers us. If that's the case, then Firefly also knew us before the Express. (Although, I don't know why we even went on this tangent, MC doesn't have anything to do with comments above, anyway)

@@ArioTBP I was thinking TB was after Kafka but before SW and blade. And Blade mentions that TB looks different and it took him a moment to recognize TB at first because of it
Now, regarding inquiring meaning and challenging life, we don't actually know Silver Wolf's deal with Elio. I believe that at some point, every Stellaron Hunter will have their dedicated story arc or something that expands their lore. We already got Blade on Xianzhou (I know it's a mess but that was something I guess), now we're getting Sam on Penacony. Kafka's arc is still incomplete, Elio is not even introduced to the story and Silver Wolf... I'd say that we know the least about her and her life. Most of the stuff about Silver Wolf is still hidden within her character stories or rare encounters on express and even then, it's all incomplete.
"They who inquire meaning" actually aligns with playable SIlver Wolf's path being nihility and the fact that she gets bored immediately after she's done with a challenge. She literally climbed the tallest building of Punklorde, looked at the sky and then went "ah, boring." I think this whole idea will be expanded in the future once she gets spotlight in the story (maybe if we go to Punklorde). Or maybe they'll finally tell us more about her, her deal with Elio and her early life. We only saw her say 7 lines in Penacony and then she just disappeared lmao.
And Firefly's "they who challenge life" fits with the whole idea of her trying to fix her condition like you said. I literally can't see her trying to "inquire meaning" in anything.
Personal guess about the whole blade's specialty and Sam's lack of it is pretty well explained by blade. Blade says his life is a purgatory and Sam is good at creating a purgatory, while silverwolf says that in her example of a horror movie where the character comes back home, blade and Kafka would be sitting on the couch waiting for them, silverwolf would say hi and Sam wouldn't even give them the chance to turn on the light, the way I see it, blade's specialty is probably intimidation (though admittedly I think I'd also be scared of the 2 and a half metre tall kamen rider looking mech) as well as smaller scale fights assassinations and the such, while Sam is meant purely for annihilation, making sure there's nothing left, for all that Blade and the others are strong, I think if the stellaron hunters are getting to fight an army all on their own, I think they'd send Sam in to do it on his own

Blade just wants to die, but can't. Just like how Misteln from Honkai Impact 3rd, who also could not die, no matter how many times she tried to kill herself, she always auto-revived. Like with Blade. Differences between her and Blade, is Misteln killed people by just standing nearby another person. Blade kills with his own will. And the reason for their desiring death, is different. Blade wants to die due to the Mara-struck curse on his body. Misteln wanted to die because she could not help but autokilling anyone who stood nearby her. Short-life species desires immortality, but they have no idea what a curse immortality is. Blade knows first-hand that immortality is not a blessing, it's a curse

i doubt kafka recruited by sam. As sam mentioned her script for most of the time are straightforward and only revolved on killing stuff, which make penacony script a weird one for her. Lastly considering kafka mention elio brought MC to her, i am suspecting MC is kafka recruiter. Not to mention blade said MC is the one, who follow kafka the longest.

The dynamic of Sam and Firefly makes me think of Masquerade and Alice from Bakugan Battle Brawlers. They in some way are the same yet have distinct differences in personality that can qualify as being two different entities. In Alice's case, Masquerade was born from her soul and became a separate entity. While Firefly becoming the Stelleron Hunter Sam is more like picking up a Persona/state of mind situation. At least that's what I got out of it. 🤔

I predict that some parts of her backstory were a fluke. Especially the dissease part, it sounded waaay to convenient for the sob story. Think about the task she received from Elio. It's possible that she miiight actually be Titania, during Sam's boss battle you can read the description that says that they are the last survivors of Glamoth. Also doesn't it sound funny that Glamoth could be interpreted as "Moth" being guided by "Fire"fly like a moth to the flame(fire)? An Empress guiding Gla"moth" with "fire"fly to their goals? She could be lying about not knowing what happened to Glamoth but isn't that in line with everyone being a liar in Penacony? also wouldn't it make sense if she was Titania breaking "free" from her restrains since she was probably trapped to just give the iron legion orders but maybe she wanted to have a life for herself so she could have broken free after her (Titania's) attitude change from the main goal of protecting Titania but wouldn't it also make more sense if Glamoth fell to ruin because SHE left and left Glamoth completely defenseless, she is after all challenging life by fighting for herself and she could be revealing that in 2.2 by saying she was Titania but lied about not knowing to hide from anyone hunting her for their own purpose, she could potentially be an empress after all who could control an iron legion and who wouldn't want to control someone like that? I think Blade is more suitable for infiltration while Sam is direct brutal force. She even was plan B for evacuation from Loufu prison, I think it is normal practice for SH - consider Sam as last argument in conflicts

Ive seen people shitting on others for saying that Firefly and Sam were separate people but if that was the case then why do all the stellaron hunters call Sam a “he” in all their voicelines..I’d say Firefly is apart of Sam and Sam is a part of firefly, they’re both Sam but have their own consciousness, Firefly just can’t move because of her disease

I don't think the evidence currently supports the idea that Sam was the one to recruit Kafka:
One: Elio provides this mystery recruiter with incredibly verbose and detailed instructions. It's an elaborate series of butterfly effect type things all set up in order to get Kafka to receive whatever message Elio is sending her. Firefly says that her scripts are always very short.
Two: Elio says that, if Kafka ignores his offer, the recruiter WILL die. Now, I'm the biggest Kafka fanboy in the world, but saying that she could, with minimal prep time, not just solo Sam in a straight fight, but solo 'em so thoroughly that Elio declares death is the only possible option, seems like quite a feat.
Three: Elio states that if the recruiter dies, he will endeavor to ensure their wish for the future comes to pass. Assuming Firefly's wish is to live outside the confines of her horrible crippling disease, that's not something that can be granted post-humously.
In short: I suspect Firefly was second after Kafka, with Kafka's recruiting coming from some random Stellaron Hunting goons that were employed at some point or another. Sometime later Kafka and the probably the Trailblazer then found some cryopod or Glamoth space hulk somewhere that they fished Firefly out of. It'd tie TB's backstory in with Firefly's origins (ie: so they're old friends, basically), and bring Sam into the fold just in time to recruit Blade (who Sam was definitely present for).

I'm not gonna lie I was kinda dissapointed when it was revealed she was Sam, I was expecting more of a like "We need each other" dynamic, with Firefly needing Sam to stay alive somehow and Sam being more of a Knight of hers Idk, they gotta ease me into this whole thing, I don't doubt Imma like it after 2.2, but I'm really on the fence with this whole thing.
I heard someone say that the entropy from Sam's body is what's keeping firefly from fading away due to her entropy loss syndrome. There's a chance that the suit is independent in someway, given the mirage from the 2.0 quest. Maybe it was just the suit that we fought after firefly died to the meme and it was firefly that went to the land of exile. That would kind of explain how she "came back" from the land of exile so fast. Maybe whenever firefly is out of the suit it has a mind of its own, hence the line "why mecha this isn't what we agreed upon" from last patch. Idk just on the spot feelscrafting
