- The mad motor scientist is back at it again. John has the test TRX-4 on the workbench that he previously fitted with a wild power system and is now tearing it out of the truck. For what you may ask? Simple, a new test system. John has taken a 1800Kv motor and piggybacked a Crawlmaster Mini ESC to it with a custom 3D printed motor end-cap. In this video he will talk about his Integrated Power Solution Test as he installs it into the rig. Then he'll power everything up so you can see its low speed control.

No risk no rewards.So I was always told by my uncles growing up.Glad I'm watching these videos,because I'm working on a old 6th scale Ford lighting truck. To me with a custom trailer I'm building seems to be a nice set up to haul one of my wraiths Iv been working on as well.All of the old electronics are being replaced with a castle setup I think I can get it up and running again with the upgrades I'm doing on the truck.lots of room to hide all the electronics and lighting system.Thanks for posting these videos they help a lot with a old guy such as myself.And it's a fun thing to share with my grandson.
Not a TRX4 but I put a 3500kv into a SCX102 builders kit. Had it in there for well over a year now no problems, Though that said I only run it on 2s, but it gives me a good crawl and top speed with barely any heat generated. I love it.

A few people (customers and employees) have run the 3800kv slate Mamba X systems with great success and fun in the 2 speed versions of the TRX models
I have a crawlmaster sport 8t and a 12t my first crawler and love it don't even need a motor now but will be ready when I do
very good advice you dont learn without makin a few mistakes
I run a 3500kv PP2 with mamba x in my trx4 w/2speed. Love the setup, it works great. The white wire controls drag brake.

I have a 3500kv Puller Pro V2 and a Mamba X ESC in my TRX-4 Sport. I changed to the 45 tooth spur and a 9 tooth pinion. It works very well. 👍
i used a 3500kv 550 in my sport and loved the torque for crawling
I bought one of the Hobbywing fusion 1800kv combos for my Trx4 Bronco. So far its not too shabby. I personally like the FOC because I mainly use it as a trail truck to haul my Gen 8. I'd love to update that to one of these set ups though...
Sidewinder4 esc paired with 3200kv brushless motor in my 2 speed trx4 crawler. Speed when I need and crawling power with little cogging. Large pinion lol for fun.
I want 5, & if you made it & decided 😋 it's champ. Straight up fudge these fusions China stuff. Dang it I want American Engineering! Not copying someone else work. Take my money Holmes your stuff been the the king of quality & power in my shop!
I always get in a rush and add to my tip. The critical element in being a smart ass is being smart. My son has that covered...I always thought it was intended for the 6% smart enough to get it. And for the most part the people get angry because they were to slow to get it.
I’m running a Castle Copperhead 10 with their 3800kv on 3s lipo in my TRX4 2021 Bronco and it’s pretty nuts! Stock gearing which is 11t pinion and 45t spur I believe. 1st gear crawling is much better than stock with much slower initial startup and great punch to bump up obstacles if needed, 2nd gear is an absolute riot with full on wheelies even though I have a bunch of brass on the front 🤣

I actually have a 2850kv slate with a mamba x in my 2 speed bronco 45-9 gearing it’s awesome!!! It crawls low & slow amazingly & when you wanna get down & do some mudding or smashing around it definitely gets after it!! Love it!! Can’t imagine a 3500kv puller pro? INSANE!!!😂👍🏼
I had a waterproofed Novak 3900 kv motor in a Defender 2 speed and that thing ripped on 3S! And still crawlable. I used a 9t pinion

All I have to say is your crawl master mini ESC has ruined any other ESC for me so it'll be interesting to see how well this performs over time cuz I have a truck I've been looking to do something similar with and so far they only options been a fusion
I haven't tried a 3500kv, but 2200kv on 6s in the 2 speed trx4 is pretty dang fast. It's like playing Starfox, and it always wants to do a barrel roll!

Put a 3500kv puller pro in my bronco with a mamba x 10 tooth pinion awesome low end and it's a rocket in 2nd. Oh ya with a lift kit. It's great on trails goes over everything.

I agree, I'd rather have a separate ESC... But I'm not going to deny there are places where this kind of all in one solution is a great solution (thinking of a project that at present time is on indefinite hold).

I had 2 power gloves. Got them from KMart when they clearanced them out for $25. I wish I had kept to the plan and kept one of them in the box but the one I bought to use stopped working mysteriously.
I put a 3800 Slate motor paired with your BLE Pro in my TRX-4 Bronco (2 Speed). The power and speed is nuts, lol. You can really bash it around. The top speed is insane, people always see me smashing it around and are shocked that its a trail truck.
Is the low speed control worse or better than with the stock system?
@@Cooldibs I found that it was much better in low speed than stock. It has plenty of low range power and wheel speed when you want it. I don’t use it as much as I did last year when I swapped the system out but 3800 is great, if not a bit much. If I were to do it again, the 540 can holmes hobbies 3500kv would be perfect imo.

I’ve run 3500PP and it’s just too darn fast, so I’ve gone to 2700PP and 2200 revolvers. I’m not a two speed guy, because of your curves and brushless motors.

Most rigs, just start with stock.
Think it'd benefit from taller gearing to keep the motor under a bit of load? The chatter isn't 'bad' thing but my friends may not think I'm cool anymore LOL
yes, technically it would reduce the chatter. We are also working on improving the PID that should help.
I dont jave tjat combo im my trx4, i have a revolver with an old school mamba max, but i do have a 4500 PP w/ mamba x in my bomber 2.0 on 4s, lol, definitely need the 2 speed to get that low end back, hahahaa

I am running a 3500kv puller pro on a Wltoys 10428 (Vaterra Twin hammers) highly modify with 2 speed. I run it from 2 to 4s as a crawler and a basher. It just do it all realy good. The motor has been rebuild (electronic board and bearings) due to see water and hard conditions but after 2 years it still run great.

Can you please tell us and show us what "smooth" means? You say you make smooth motors, but are we talking smooth like yogurt or geometrically or like Santana or what? Seriously though, I see it used a lot and it confuses the little wormy things in my brain. In a short video, pretty please, with yogurt on top? I can't do the whole live chat things, they trigger my anxiety.
