im not sure how it works (Im not home so I don't have access to a computer) but you might be able to increase the preview resolution and you get a kinda high quality version of it? idk
The resolution could probably very easily be increased at great detriment to resource usage.
It would probably also run quite slow, since the preview is rendering on the fly, and any given individual frame of it requires processing time to render.

I remember spending hours trying to figure out how to install all the packages and get everything running (I was pretty new to python and programming in general back then) but when I did, it was really cool to be able to mess with values and look through some of the code. I'm now a Freshman in High School and I can say for certain that you are one of the main reasons I became so obsessed with programming over the last 3 years. ... I still haven't wrapped my head around the evolution programs you wrote and have shown in another video... One day, I'll dive in it completely because I would love to be able to adapt them to some other situations, like find the best geometry for a frame under some physical stress or something. I only studied physics, so reprogramming stuff was never really my strong suit; I just tinker around the code until it kinda does what I hoped for. xD

Make the top slider snap to integers

have you tried visualizing the space formed by taking different pictures of the same celebrity in different backgrounds, and seeing which components change the most and maybe doing a PCA on that subset?

I think it could've also had something to do with the contrast? Since if you take someone with light skin (person A), and another person with dark skin (person B), then put the same (for example) black eyeshadow on them, there will be more contrast between person A's skintone and the makeup, vs person B's skintone.
The program may have picked up on this and therefore, if you feed it a photo of person A and B wearing the same makeup, it might say that person A is wearing more despite them wearing the same thing.
(Of course, it doesn't actually know that it's changing the picture to have an appearance of wearing more makeup)
So, in short, it could've just picked up on some contrast between light and dark in the photos.
I don't know though, this is just a theory.

For the point of euclidian distance to determine the closest celebrity, did you ponderate the vectors by their PCA weight ? I did not hear that and it might explain the reason why it does this. Also, maybe the vectors for lighting should not be taken into account that much ?
Two questions, would it be possible to train such an algorithm to remove the background first to decrease the impact of it on the PCAs ?
And would it work with higher image definition ?
Could you do a tutorial on actually creating a basic ML program, like in your videos? There aren't that many good resources online.

@carkh you could use music to affect the "face". Using the middle frequency range or a vocal only piece on some key slides, you could make the face turn and mouth move with the music. I wonder if, with a specific setup, you could make it look closer to real singing. Food for thought, thanks for the great video

How you did calculating of euclidean distance so fast? In my progect I check around 100 checks in 2d space and my computer already struggles and your computer does 12000 in 300d space with ease!

Yes, because each face is a vector/list of numbers, so for example lets say my face is the vector (1,4,2) and your face is (3,1,10) then the addition of our faces is (4,5,12)

how do you think the program would work if the picture database you used was like id photos to remove as much variation as possible? And for more idealism lets say its all their brand new id photos after the government orders id photos be taken in hd and all dmvs have a little room you go into which all have the exact same lighting set up and they all use the exact same camera and the walls are all the exact same color
