Sharing all things Cunk - a fictional character from Charlie Brooker's Weekly Wipe, Cunk on Britain, Cunk on Shakespeare and Cunk on Earth - Portrayed by the incredible Diane Morgan.
Professor Ronald Hutton handles Philomena like a pro. He wasn't even phased by her questions. He must be a really great professor
When I think of the super smart college professor, this man is exactly who comes to mind. The clothes, the hair, the face, the voice - he's the total package
Speaking as an instructor in higher institutions of learning from community college to grad courses, we learn not to be too fazed by ignorance. However, students are not willfully ignorant!
He is probably on the spectrum ❤
@@karencampbell2410way to insult someone
@@karencampbell2410 What evidence do you have for that claim?
He's definitely had people ask him sillier questions than Philomena. He's unphased. He's legendary.
he is the professor of bolocksology
He has that perfect nerd energy and enthusiasm for everything he's talking about and obviously completely understood the humour right from the gecko.
Gecko?
@@criticalcommenter yeah it's rare to see someone who does what they do just out of pure passion these days. You know what they say, it's a doggy dog world.
@@hamishfox too easily taken for granite these days.
Don't have anything to add, just wanted to say I'm loving this interaction. Have a good one ✌️
Bit of a damp squid
“You can’t (look at the sun), that’s probably why you got glasses!”
Savage
@@freekingfreaking246 yeah
Honestly he seems so chill, I bet he laughed when she said that
1:30 the way that he'd maintained eye contact the entire time he was recounting all of the deaths of the previous five james-es is just ✨✨
He is a world renowned scholar on paganism, witchcraft and magic. He must have heard every silly question under the sun, met niche groups and cults and has been humbled along the way. Philomena was a walk in the park for him 🤣
Hutton has probably politely handled even weirder questions asked with genuine seriousness over breakfast while hungover, after a summer solstice party.
triumph of the moon proves your theories
"Like Simon Cowell, when he brought together... One Direction"
-
"Yes, except it lasted a bit longer"
That was such a fun and shady comeback :D
He also doesn't like any of them particularly lol
Brilliant Stuff Philomena, Professor,
"That's the Great Thing about History"
"It Puts Everything into Perspective"
If it weren't for the esteemed professor Ronald Hutton, I would never have learned that rocks are more jaggedy.
His last reply to her has got to be one of the best responses out of all the interviews phillamena has done
I love that her interviews are characterized as "versus" affairs
He's a national treasure for sure
Just two intelligent people having a quality conversation.
This guy looks exactly like the company mechanic at the place I work. He's the nicest guy in the world and I once saw him pick up a worm from the middle of the road, then put it safely in the grass and he smiled at me and said "I like animals"
Awwwww that’s fucking sweeeeet
"History puts everything into perspective". Love that!
He is The Best Teacher alive today hands down he completely handles Cunk like a school child it's so great I love it
Ronald Hutton's lectures are genuinely the most amazing things ever
They both mastered this interaction. Master class!
What a wise and erudite man; the personification of a gentleman. I'm also obsessed with this comedic character Philomena Cunk - pure genius.
He's as funny as she is. This interview is hands down the best thing ever! Diane killing it at being Philomena not being intentionally funny, and the professor killing it at not being intentionally funny in real life!
He's Philomena-proof!
Dr. Hutton is the essence of a teacher and kind soul. Every moment is also comedy gold from Diane Morgan.
the “that’s probably why you’ve got glasses” is an all time classic line
What a great chap this man is. Very knowledgable and always kind
He certainly knew the rules to the game!
I get the sense that he's explained history to his kids or grandkids a lot. ^_^
😂 I've planned on sometime reading 'Blood and Mistletoe: The History of the Druids in Britain' by him, but now I'm not going to be able to get his dry and slightly whimsical tone of voice out of my head when I read it. 😂
I love Professor Ronald almost as much as I love her ❤.
I have watched most of his lectures available on youtube and he did not disappoint with the Cunk interviews 😂
Seems like she met her match with this one!
“Are stones made of rocks, or are rocks made of stones” - Philomena Cunk
Love him. Wld love to go to any lecture he gives
Absolute hilarity. We need more of this!!
They both are brilliant!
He seems so patient like i just want him to tell me im doing a very good job and im very smart!
They honestly make the perfect duo, lol
I simply love this guy!
IF I WEAR MY CONTACTS AND THE PUT ON MY GLASSES,i can see the future
such a great professor
This is just so amazing on every level!
Oh my ! oh golly gosh she is so so so very very funny ! I burst my sides hearing her so very original and pithy clever clever comments, the tears ran down my face my hadkerchief was sopping wet I found it hard to controle my mirth ! she should do this as a profession !
"That probably why you've got glasses" 😂
What a lovely man is professor Hutton! You can see the impish student peeking through!😂
I love how he doesn't miss a beat and blandly replies: "No, the Stuarts are an astonishingly accident-prone family".
He's fabulous. He totally belongs in her show!
It all makes sense now. That man is a saint!
love Ronald Hutton.
1:33 you can tell he is very passionate and interested in explaining the topic
That guy is brilliant.
I'm from the US and I love her so much.
That's a sharp and cool dude right there.
"Myyyy Matthew is gettin' a divorce..." (virtually bats eyes at Matthew through the camera) 😍
This is wonderful 😂
So many cuts in there - presumably so Dr Ron can stop laughing, straighten his face again and get his breath back
Dr. Ron? Is that like Dr. Phil?
I love this 😆 yay Ron-Ron
". . . so rocks are more jaggedy?" 😂
Amazing last line
LEGEND
She is awesome
I've just seen a video of the professor talking bout fairies
“Matthew Hopkins!? He went to my school!”
I like to think that both of these wonderful people are Time Lords.
Absolute lad!
She is actually right about looking into the sun. Just bcs one is able doesn't mean one should do it. That's probably why he wears glasses.
I know a Matthew Hopkins that, although he didn't string up elderly women, he did cheat on inventory, and we had a full larder as a consequence.
He stole the scene with the Stuart quip. I had to stop the video. I was laughing too hard to hear.
Its a little different than Prof. Hutton's Gresham lecture's! 🎉😍🤩💖🤣🤣🤣
Almost like watching Sheldon answering these questions
I first came across him on Historyonics in the early 2000s - so this isn't the first entertainment he's done. Shame that's not on iplayer now.
So many cuts in there - presumably so Dr Ron can stop laughing, straighten his face again and get his breath back 🙂
"This isn't the same Matthew Hopkins. I hope." 💀
She is the most desireable woman in the light ages.
For rock and stone!
DID I HEAR A ROCK AND STONE?!?!?
Dude's eyebrows are having their own conversation aside from his mouth's.
i’m a simple man. i see Ronny Hutt, i yell wassail drink ale!!
Pretty sure they both lost. Philomena was bored and the Professor still answered her questions
How could she interview these people so many times? She never told them who she was at the end of each interview? So she caught them every time? Trying to understand as a non British person.
Matthew Hopkins 😂😂
you got it
i dunno why but that made me lol.
Rock and Stone
imagine if it really had been the Mathew Hopkins she'd gone to school with. There might have been clues, with regard to his vocation.
Let's call it a draw.
He handles her well because he has a sense of humour. I read that the experts are asked to take her questions seriously in that they are not warned what she will say. But just remember one thing…what she says is not ad libbed, it is scripted. She is just an actress.n
She is a lot more than an actress, she is brilliant, and some of it does have to be ad libbed, according to what she answers. Her delivery and control are impeccable. BBC should continue making these until the day she wants to retire because she is not only generating a legacy of unique comedy, it is also educational and a great refresher for all on s side variety of topics. Love her, SHE is a national treasure, ad are all these professors and academics.
I like Ronald Hutton - comes across as a great guy.
She's so cute
Matthew Hopkins!>!?!?!?!?!
Conk on Monk. 2 of the funniest women! Who would be the interviewer and who, the interviewee, I wonder? It would smashing any old way. 👍💝
Either he is a great actor or is immune to humor. I couldn't do an interview with her. She once said "sucked off through a hole" and I lost it.
What an egg.
Eat your heart out Sacha Baron Cohen.
"how difficult was it for pagans to get about on all fours?"
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
"The Stuarts were astonishingly accident prone". Worth sitting through the cringe that is Philomena for that gem.
You are the only creature that thinks she's cringe
@@willwrite3675
Lighten up, Will. He/she means ‘cringe’ in a non-offensive way.
@@dr.jamesolack8504 he told you so?
I dream of the day when Conk meets Monk (Nina Conti's monkey). That would be outstanding and I'd have to strap myself in! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
prof hutton is even funnier than cunk
Obvious troll interviewer. Utterly unfunny.
That is the most English looking person I've ever seen in my life
And he is a pagan who is a leading scholar on Paganism, Druids, magic and witchcraft in Britain, which for some reasons makes him seem just even more British to me for some reason.
@@whatabouttheearth
Sounds like a level-headed kinda guy to me. Fortunately, he doesn’t ramble on about some fake, bearded man in the sky. That human construct just doesn’t cut it any more in the real world.
@@dr.jamesolack8504people still think the other guy has horns and pitchfork, weird, right?
Cunk, the one trick pony...
Almost like it’s a character
Indeed, I believe it is, an extremely tedious one @@willieclark2256
