- Not sure it was a series as such. 4 minute ep's that were included in
the half-hour shows 'Charlie Brooker’s Weekly Wipe', I think.
Anyway I've compiled them into two 30 minute collections.
Pt 01 (Eps 1-8);
00:00 - Time
04:21 - Crime
07:54 - Evolution
11:13 - Computers
15:19 - Money
19:02 - Churchill & WWII
23:00 - Philosophy
26:31 - Climate Change
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Part 02 (Eps 9-15) is here;
• Philomena Cunk - Momen...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just came across this which gives a bit of background to the evolution of the character;
• Cunk on Character - Hudba
Does anyone else just adore the existence of this human?! 🤗
More entertaining than most documentaries 😅
She makes me laugh so much.
"1 in 20 people has been a victim of crime which means that 19 out of 20 people are criminals. No wonder we need police" -indeed 🤣🤣🤣
Check ur maths
Check your spelling@@sherwoodsmallidge9186
She's really brilliant because she presumably comes up with her comments in response to the experts off-the-cuff. She doesn't know what they're going to say so she has to think fast.
Yes, I would think there's a lot of improv' involved...
She has a basic game plan with pre rehearsed material and then she improves on top of that
"Next time, Ill be finding out where our laps go when we stand up".
So many funny one-liners!
That’s so funny because his explanation of time was really good and she just looks back at the camera hahahah
3:45 The look back kills me every time lmao
Like, wtf is this guy on about
Philomena Cunk, you are the most logical woman I've ever encountered! Cheers!
Right up through my middle bits
I love P Cunk. Just brilliantly delivered. I love the experts. They are all having the best time
I'm not sure the experts are in on the gag. That's half the fun of it, their perplexed expressions & exasperated sighs.
@@wirewehear7254they are in on the gag, to a certain extent. They are told to expect any questions and to answer in the name of education and not to be judgemental... Or something like that. They definitely do their best, that's for sure!
@@wirewehear7254 They've been told it's a comedy (as confirmed by Diane Morgan in an interview). But they may not know the exact format, or exactly what type of comedy it is.
@@Unknown-jt1jo Your remark prompted a quick investigation & you're correct. They talk about this in the BFI Q&A at 8.23 min's; czcams.com/video/uZ-5eOD57Ss/video.html
Nevertheless the show works just fine either way, so it doesn't really matter how much they're in on it.
@@wirewehear7254 :) in general, for things to appear natural on tv, some form of rehearsal is needed...
in an interview on a late night show in the US she talked about how some of her guests/real-world experts couldn't maintain character and they would laugh during filming (understandably so).
scripts were written for each episode (she is a co-writer of the show) but improv was also deployed.
the guests were advised to answer the questions as if they were talking to an infant and some became huge fans of the show promoting it on their personal sm accounts :}
She is a great lecturer, so much wisdom and dignity. 😊
She is without a doubt, the funniest woman on earth!❤
The Shroud of Turing! Brilliant. Thank you Philomena for all the hilarity.🥰🥰🥰
25:00 Oh my god you can just see her going through all the different answers in her head as she finally decides to answer with "yes"🤣🤣
'You've got lovely warm hands'.
Time is the space between your first breath and your last breath.
Wise words mate.
Nicely put!
The patience and willingness to explain and expand on the various subjects by the experts are what makes the series work!
"Who decides what right and whats not white!" - I´m gone 🤣
My mate Paul
I'm from greenwich, i watch this when i get homesick and piss myself, i'm a fish marillion fan too. Love it
nearly wet myself when she said that Marillion line uterrly brilliant comedy gold 😂😂
@@stephenclark9594 i remember when i thought she was an actual bbc4 presenter and saw a clip of cunk on shakespeare and thought what the hell lol. I try to get everyone to watch it
She's ever so good at this....
I’d like to see Philomena ask Siri questions
And answer them.
Great idea! 👏😁
- 'Oh, so you don't know...'
- ',,,,eeehh...'
😂😂😂
"why was he in the wilderness?"
the dude was probably thinking "i should not have said that"
Time is like a flowing river. And the things in rhe river are experiences.
Oh.. like fish in the water..
.......yes..
The Turing Shroud!!😂😂😂
She said "what is clocks?" lmao!!!!!!
21:37 the way she adds "i mean if you dont look at that fact that he won the war" is hysterical!
" right up me middle bits " oh i love her ij
"Hard E or soft E?" might be the greatest moment in the history of television.
"Ceremonial wind turbine" 😂
She's the Ali G of science and history. Good stuff!
Lol, so true
It's good for a laugh, but in the facebook age people are actually like this.
I think that's kind of the point
Ok boomer
@@valldemart Ok dumb and dumber.
Hilarious parody of the way information is given on youtube where everyone gets to pretend to be an expert.
@@valldemart You demonstrate yourself as a terrible person when speak against Boomers. You demonstrate yourself as terrible person when you speak against people of color. You demonstrate yourself as a terrible person when you speak intolerance towards people who are different from you.
“Turing’s shroud” 😆
I am ever grateful for this stuff.
Her dry humor while staring right into the camera without a hint of smile is so funny.
youtube was right. I needed to see this. All these peoples using their hands to further their vocal expressions, as if it helps to categorize the sound appropriately and direct it into each proper ear.
Its only when we have time that we think about having time.
if you haven’t got time to think then you haven’t got time.
I thought that was Jen from IT Crowd
All of these experts answering her so seriously....laughing so hard...no lol or rfol or whatever cannot describe my laughter
Every TED Talk ever!
Time is running right up me middle bits 😂😂

"Many of those rules, like killing and gravity, are still used by God today, even though God's dead." 😂😂
That woman cracks me up!
The Turing Shroud??? Brilliant.
A true comedian go away hannah gadsby!
Philamona is awesome I loved the History series she did lmao.
Scientists predict the world's stock of weather footage will run out by 2050.
Who lives in here, and what do they want lmao
17:30 the economist tries to get in on the fun, but she just takes all the air out of it.
Lol
And her profound question afterwards. Brilliant 😂
"Because evolution can't be seen, it's hard to believe in."
_b-roll of life models from evolution museum_ 😂
The beginning was a beautiful Poem
This must be among the first philomena cunk material, because it has gotten a lot better than this, even though I really like this too
From tricky Wiki; The character first appeared in a regular segment on Charlie Brooker's Weekly Wipe (2013-2015).
From a review of series 2 of Charlie Brooker's Weekly Wipe on IMDB; Barry Shitpeas and Philomena Cunk return with
their talking head contributions. This section is expanded as Cunk gets her own section called Moments of Wonder.
So it would seem Cunk & Barry first appeared in 2013 & 'Moments of Wonder' in 2014.
- I have compiled the former here;

" time has existed since before time began .."

Marillion is named after this line brilliant 😂
Very original stuff literally lmao
I'm missing a pair of shoes. I looked in my fridge. nop, there not there.
20:33 what’s the name of that music piece
How much does time weigh? Is there a gluten free option?
She’s right, the computers are watching us
😊yeah girl I love your accent it is awesome 😊 JAKX
I'm with Philomena all the way. How can the man on the street or in the park take climate change seriously when they base the Thames Barrier on a set of giant, aluminium clad slippers?
According to my cosmic friends the new saying is...."I exist, therefore I am!".

"But they didn't know it were ancient Mesopotamian times because there were no clocks" LOL
He invented the triangle... you couldn't start snooker without it... Nice twist there.
Even Wonga can't help😂
She reminds me of arguing with flat-earthers, creationists, and moon-landing deniers. They just ignore evidence and go on with their pre-conceived notions.
Except she’s funny.
I'm a creationist and believe the Earth is a globe and we've been to the moon.
@@joeskis Back in the mid 11th century, Aquinas taught that the universe was one thought in the mind of God. To me that was the Big Bang.
I cannot help myself but ask, if the interviewees were prepared for what was to come.
I'm pretty sure they don't know.
judging by the reactions I wouldn't say so 😂😂😂
Not at all 😂 they were told it was for a comedy though
1 out of 20 people have been a victim of crime, which means 19 out of 20 people are criminals..🥺😂
How did those shoes get in my fridge? 😨

👍👍❤❤👍👍
I don’t get it, philomena is just a regular Northerner. 🤷♂️
WHO ARE YOU!?
😂😂😂
I think she's even funnier to Americans, because we're primed to assume anyone with a RP British accent is smart.
Well she's not speaking in an RP English accent, she's using her own voice, a regional Northern accent (she's from Bolton, near Manchester), very much not RP. When the character was originally created it was proposed that she would give Philomena an RP accent, which on paper makes perfect sense. But Morgan instinctively knew that It would work better in her own voice, and she was right.
@@wirewehear7254 Ah, OK, which shows my point even better. We basically think any British accent (other than Cockney or the Northern accents that even English people find incomprehensible) sound smart and sophisticated.
@@suedenimnever knock a cockney they invented a whole different way of talking with rhyming slang and also back slang which is tough, put it this way if prince harry was bright enough to speak it he wouldn't use a silly word like todger he would called it a Brighton rock 😉🏴

How unspeakably unfair to Philomena to provide her with a trainee economist to interview who didn't even know that the right way to pronounce 'economics' is 'oikonomia' (from the ancient Greek word for 'house-law'. No wonder they want their marbles back).
😍😍
Shes right stairs are a bunch of little floors.
👍👍 Herrlich die Frau. Is she very british? I mean the sense of humour...
I like her.
I would think so, but then I don't know if it's particularly different to German humour, or French or whatever since I'm not so familiar with them. It seems she's gained some traction in The States judging from the interview on Late Night with Seth Meyers.
How can the experts be serious to answer her 😂😂

You can talk to a computer now about computers.
🤣
She's the epitome of talking with AI.
