    Only patina I've ever liked...
Usually they leave the rust, there's no protection and it continues to tot out, this way not only did it look cool, but it was in a way that protects.

Thanks, yes I was going for a bare metal look , from 20 feet away you can't tell it's painted. You can use any color for a top coat as long as where you sand through the color below is a contrasting color to give the most effect. Thanks for watching.

Thank you for sharing! I love the effect and look!
Is Tremclad a Canadian product? Having a difficult time finding. I'm looking to try this out. Oil based primer and oil based gloss black, then enamel spray paint? Can you provide links to paints used?

Thanks. Where are you located ? Any Lowes or home depot will have it. Basically yes , oil based for the first two coats but I think the color coat was different ( acrylic enamel maybe ) which causes the crackle effect because it reacts to the oil paint. The clear coat doesn't matter if it oil based I don't think. If you can't find the same paint I used then I'd suggest trying it on some scrap metal to practice with the paint you do have.

@@whatshappeningintheshop I'm in the Tampa FL area. We have Lowe's and HD nearby. I've never seen Tremclad before. Looks the same as Rustoleum but wasn't sure. I'm working on a 53 F100. In the video, is the entire truck done using the same process and materials or just the fenders?

Looks like you can get the silver as well if you want the top color silver

Yes the whole truck was done with the same process although on some spots like the front grill and front fenders I got a lot more crackled paint. It's pretty random and I cant really control where it happens which I think adds to the authentic look .

This could be a good way to hide a poorly repaired rust panel.
