    Good vid, and thank you for calling it fake patina, not patina paint job or something like that. Real patina is only created by mother nature. but alot of other channels think that it isn't because it's so popular right now.

    Great minds think alike! I just did a finish like this on a vintage bicycle I just resto-modded. The bike was originally dark brown. I overlaid it with red-oxide primer then a light coat of satin black. let it dry then rubbed it down with a green 3M scrubbing pad in the places i wanted to show wear. The result is a lot more subtle than many fauxtina jobs, but far more convincing. Your Apache hood looks great brother, nice work!

    Patina = lazy. Any real car collector will tell you that patina does NOT add value to a vehicle. Patina look is a modern fad/trend due to the laziness of younger buyers and drivers. Sort alike motorcycles being painted flat black nowadays so the owner doesn't have to wash and polish it as much. Yes, you did a good job but if you are going to that much trouble, paint it correctly and have something that looks like you really care and are above dumb trends.

    • @djscustoms
      @djscustoms  Před 7 měsíci +5

      Appreciate the input! Not sure why you would take the time to watch a video on patina. We enjoy patina because we drive the hell out of these vehicles and don’t have to worry about someone Leaning on the car/truck and putting a blemish on a 20k plus paint job. I don’t know about you but k drive my truck all over the Country to shows and daily drive it rain or shine and in the winter. I personally do every part of the build beside upholstery. All fab work all metal work. Motor builds, transmission builds, wiring you name it.. I wouldn’t call that lazy in the least bit. Thanks for watching! Don’t scratch your paint!

    • @scottmoto
      @scottmoto Před 7 měsíci

      @@djscustoms I do everything but upholstery myself. I love fab work. You mix a lot of apples and oranges here. What does me watching your vid on painting a patina scheme have anything to do with people wanting patina? I am damn good painter; I shouldn't be curious of your work or how you did it? A vehicle getting dirty from normal use is nothing directly about patina. You don't ever wash your vehicles? Someone can opt for a fake patina paint job and then still wash it and wax it. So that someone should let the patina paint job go to patina naturally? Okay, well wipe your ass then take a shit. It make no sense.
      And last but not least, what does your skill level and skill set have a damn thing do with accepting patina as lazy? You are mixing issues over board here. The laziness, as mentioned, is about people not wanting to take care of and maintain a nice paint job and opting for a look (patina) that does not require them to attend to it. It has nothing to do with what YOU are capable of doing on a vehicle. And you know what, if my vehicle gets a scratch, I damn sure will fix it and I will smoke your ass at any car show because I did. LOL. Right? It is about standards. Meaning that if you think patina is an acceptable choice over dong it right, then you are the guy that will not take care of the little things that will have you finish behind guys like me that do.
      Your contradiction is that you painted a vehicle to be patina because in actuality you did not really want it to be patina. You could have done it with 10 bucks of sandpaper and some chemicals and saved a lot of time and money.
      Keep up the great work and keep those videos coming!!!! Awesome stuff.
