its not stuck. when turned all the way to the right, it won't shut off
Would you tell me that if the stuck valve happens to be on a hot water line, should I go for the same procedure but just skipping the “hot water step”?
When I run out of Zepreserve penetrant, I'll check out Kroll.
It didn’t work for me. Maybe because the stem was plastic instead of metal
I don't have this issue , but I have another issue . I needed to turn off the water so I turned it clock wise , but the water kept flowing, thus I tried counter clockwise several times and the water shut off...go figure. Now when I go turn it back on going clockwise, no water is flowing . What happened ? I'm confused
Nice to see a helpful video without annoying music, thank you!
Thank you so much. I am a 69 y/o woman visiting friends for a week and your video allowed me to be the hero!
Oh my gosh.It worked. Fantastic. I was told by two people one guy that worked at Lowe's and one in home Depot that there was nothing I could do I would have to get a plumber. So grateful.
I'm a 64 year old woman and was determined to follow your instructions and get this done, my valve is really stuck. I'm afraid it's going to be expensive. Well I put a bunch of CLR on it over night. Then I started to follow your directions with hot water and WD-40. I also banged on the pipe a bunch to help loosen the crud. Little by little, back and forth, WD-40, then more hot water, more banging and more WD-40, it finally WORKED. It's now moving freely and I saved myself hundreds of dollars. Thank you so so so much!
Comments like this make me very happy! So glad it helped and thanks for sharing this.
now the valve leaks at the packing dont it better check
@@lindabingham394 mine does and did not leak and since my last comment, I have replaced everything, but needed to do this first.
Good on you, girlfriend !!
WOOOOOOOOOWWWWW. just followed those steps on a shutoff valve that hadn't been closed in over 30 years. It worked perfectly!!! Had to work on a toilet water tank , and has been struggling for over a week to get the valve to shutoff the water. This video saved me a lot of @#@%@# and a nice piece of change also. TKKKKKSSSSSSS
This was the best information to learn on how to fix a stuck shutoff valve under my kitchen sink. I followed as directed and it worked like a dream! I was able to replace a leaking hose on my side water sprayer. So simple when I was able to free my stuck valve. You saved me a visit from a plumber. So very grateful for your video. I will turn my shut off valves two times a year now so they will not get stuck. 5⭐’s
This video saved me $150 just in parts to replace 3 bathroom sinks at my home due to hard water. Life saver! Greatly appreciated 🙏
I can not believe that this actually worked ! The valve has been frozen for a number of years!
Thanks for that awesome tip
I hadn't touched the valve in years and it was completely stuck. But just by following your clear and helpful tips 3 times it came loose and now I can try to fix the toilet leak without wasting water! The only thing I did slightly differently was to wrap the hot sock around the valve. The way you gradually turned that valve (as if it was stuck) was really something! Thanks so much for your help and keep up the good work!
It worked beautifully. I looked at several videos and yours was the best orderly, logical, and clear. I did do 3 iterations of the hot sock, wait 5, WD40, wait 15, and rock the valve back and forth. I did also loosen up the nut to relief water pressure. On every iteration the valve closed more and more, until it moved all the way after the third go around. Congratulations on a well constructed video. My thanks
So glad it helped. I really appreciate you letting me know. Best wishes.
This is exactly what I needed! Thank you so much for posting this! If the valve is really stuck it might take several cycles to get it loose. I had to repeat the whole process about 3 times and left the wd-40 on for a few hours but eventually the valve gave way. After that I turned the valve on and off a couple times while coating it with more wd-40 so the lubricant would also lube the insides of the valve as I twisted it open and shut.
Glad it help out and saved you some $ calling in someone. Thanks for watching.
Another satisfied customer. It only took me one try to go through the whole routine and my valve is working smooth again. Thank you so much.
Wow! Its 1am and my toilet was leaking. Valve has been stuck for at least 3 years. Desperate to not have to call the plumber, I followed these directions to a T. Soaked the sock in boiling water, laid it on the valve, left it for 10 min. Then sprayed the valve with WD40. Left it for another 5 min. Started working the valve clock and counterclockwise. After about 5 min of working it, it finally shut off! Thank you!!!
So glad that it helped! Thank you for watching and please subscribe and share this video with friends or others that may benefit. I really appreciate the nice comment!
I am about to start this procedure, and what you have shown brings the best advice from similar videos (Roto Rooter, etc.) together. Very helpful advice! Excellent video and much appreciated.
Very helpful. I will try this today. I moved into an apartment that seems to have a lot of problems that were not taken care of before I moved in. So I’m going to try to take care of the issues myself and learn a few things in the process. Thanks for the video!
After much frustration, I decided to go to CZcams. I watched your video and followed your directions, step by step, and it worked! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
This worked really well. I had to repeat the process a second time, but after that it got unstuck and it now turns with ease. Thanks for making this video!
Glad it helped!
This was super helpful. Just moved into an older house, and the valve hadn't been exercised in a long time. I thought I was going to have to call a plumber to replace it. Tushy bidets should pay you for this video!
Really enjoy your videos because you get to the point and offer the solution without making your video a 20 minute plus production. In my case, my wife noticed a leak on the floor. I felt a wet valve, continued to feel up to the valve and hose fitting and then, up the hose to the nut. All were in a fairly straight line one above the other and all were wet. I stopped there but should have continued as I think my problem was a loose flatter nut that holds the assembly in the reservoir. If I would have checked this I would have saved a lot of work taking everything apart, checking, putting pipe dope back on and re-assembling because everything was in good shape. It was then that I discovered the flat nut on the bottom of the reservoir wasn't tightly fastened. I tightened it and everything works now. Thought I went to the top but didn't go far enough! Thanks for your great videos.
After three months of trying, I finally succeeded in closing the valve. Thank you very much!!!!!
The knob on my broke off, and it was so old I didn't even SEE that I could use a screwdriver. This literally helped me fix my problem of my toilet not filling up. Thank you!
I tried installing a bidet last week, only to notice that my valve won't budge either way! I'm new to living on my own in my first apartment, so I'm a little nervous to mess with anything. I am going to try your technique soon in the future.
Most helpful, heating with hot water , great tip.
Took me about 4 times of going through the process but finally worked! Thanks!
Excellent to hear! And saved yourself some $$$ calling someone. Thanks for letting me know.
This worked so well and saved me a huge headache -thanks so much for the advice on applying heat. I "liked" your video and subscribed to your channel.
Awesome! Thank you!
Thanks so much! Worked perfectly. PLUS, once the valve actually worked, it resolved my squealing toilet issue and I didn't even need to replace the innards - at least right now. THANKS SO MUCH!!!
This worked for me too. 2 valves fixed. Thank you for the tip.
I did exactly what you advised, and it worked perfectly!! Thank you for posting this.
My stuck shutoff valve was on the hot water side, and so I was not too optimistic. However, I gave it a shot as I had nothing to lose. Much to my amazement, it worked! Thank you so much!
It worked for me. Amazing. I thought the knob was welded until i tried this.
Thank you!!!! I didn’t think this would work on my old crusty valve. It took 3 times but it worked!!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I followed your steps on a stuck valve. Worked perfectly.
Wow, genius, thank you so so so much. I was getting so frustrated as my kitchen tap kept leaking and I couldn't shut off the cold water valve. Followed these instructions and had to do it twice and it worked. 👏
Thank you!!!! This fixed my gate valve that was stuck open. I didn't want to break it turning too hard but I was getting desperate until I found your video. It worked like a charm!! Thanks again!!
So glad it helped! Thanks for letting me know and for watching - Best wishes to you Dani
Thank you so much for this info. I have used it twice, once on toilet valve and then on cold water valve on bathroom sink. I will be using it again today on installation of new toilet in another bathroom. My brother told me he couldn't get the 1st one working....but I watched ur video and it worked. Today he told me "You need to use your trick to get the valve unstuck". I loved it!!!
Thanks for posting this video - it helped me un-stick our powder room toilet shutoff valve so I could install a new fill valve. It took two tries with a hot cloth and WD-40, but it did the trick. Much appreciated!
You're the best, I just used this method and it actually friggin worked
Thank you for the nice comment and feedback! Glad it helped
Thank you. This worked, wished I would've seen this a couple months ago before I broke the water valve in the master bathroom toilet trying to replace a broken fill valve. Smartened up and glad I stumbled upon this video before replaced the fill valve on another toilet in the house. It took about two rounds of hot wet rag and wd40 but the valve eventually turned.
THANK YOU!!!! This helped me out alot! And saved me alot of money! I was freaking out because I asked in YELP for estimates to fix the valve for the fridge and it was about $375 NOT including the drywall that they said they needed to take out and so on! NOW MY VALVE WORKS! THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!
So glad it helped plumbers are only getting more and more expensive too! Thanks for letting me know.
After waiting for the WD-40 to do its job, I really appreciated the tip to turn it more closed to get some back and forth action going. That was not something I would have necessarily tried on my own and it seemed to be helpful to get things going and just as in his example, it moved a bit more and more until I was able to close it fully. Thanks!
This was great! Follow the instructions carefully, with patience and perseverance you can do it too. Thank you for the great saving money video. 💰
I followed steps exactly … and it worked THANK YOU.. you rock
Worked like a charm! Thank you so much - finally I was able to install the Toto washlet.
Oh my gosh it worked!! The plumber can’t come for a couple of days, but the tank keeps running. And I have been needing to get it off so we can stop it from running. I didn’t have wd40 so I used olive oil instead. And it worked!! Thank you so much!!
Used this method. Worked like a charm. Thank you very much.
Just tried your suggestion on my aging toilet water supply valve this morning. Worked like a champ. Thank you!
Glad it helped!!!
Subscribed. This tip worked. The water in the toilet turned black upon the twisting of the valve. Saved me money.
So glad it helped!
This was great. Thanks. My valve already turned about 1/2 way, so I just did the WD 40, and rotated back and forth (about 50 times) and it gradually turned more and more. If I ever get one stuck completely, I'll try the hot water rag first. Thanks!
New project for the next weekend! THANKS!
This absolutely worked. Thank you.
I used PB Blaster. Freed it right up right away. Great tip & thank you!!
Thank you so much! Worked for me just now within 10 minutes. Legend :)
Thank you! Thank you! Your video clearly shows a good suggestion with the boiling water and WD-40 and other tips. I am truly grateful. Thank god for You Tube!!!
Thank you very much for the nice words and for watching my video. Be sure to subscribe for future videos. Best wishes!
So grateful! Realized days ago I have 10 valves to do & had no idea how nor the $$ to fix the damage by my trying.
Worked like a charm my good sir. Thank you for sharing!
I am one to give up easily. Glad I saw this video. Did everything you said and it worked!! Thank you!!!!
I had two stuck toilet water shutoff valves - this method worked for both! I had already tried WD-40 without the hot water soak first with no luck, then tried this and it worked just as described. Thanks!
Thank you!! I followed your instructions and was able to turn the water off so that I could replace the fill valve.
I appreciate the feedback so much and that it worked for you! Very excited to hear
Worked perfectly! Thanks so much.
This worked for me. 3 valves fixed. Thank you for the tip.
Awesome so glad it was helpful! Thanks for letting me know
Another success story. Saved money. Saved time. Thanks 🎉
You are the best! Thank you so much, just rented a home that we were trying to instal a bidet in and it’s been horrible without but you just saved us having to call the landlord! Thank you so much!!
Definitely loosened things up that seemed hopeless (thinking new valve). The old adage if you don't use it you lose it. I did three valves at the same time. I even used a sock to do the hot water soaking of the valve just like you. Thank you!
Worked great! Thanks much. I tried a few other ways and this was excellent.
Thanks for sharing your expirence and knowledge. This worked like a charm.
Thanks. I followed the steps and the fix worked! Well done!
A million thanks for your video. I was able to unstick my basement toilet valve using your steps. I think most important was tightening that screw on the knob. Again, many thanks.
So glad it helped thanks for the nice feedback
It worked! To be honest, I didn't expect to work, but I followed the tips to the end, and then in 5 minutes it was working. Thanks!
I was ready to go to the store and buy a replacement water valve! Decided one last attempt at fixing my blocked hot line and the WD40 did the trick! So great to finally be done w/ faucet issue! Than k you!!
So glad that it helped! Thank you for sharing such a nice comment. Best wishes to you.
I was all ready to replace my toilet valve and flapper seal when I got stopped in my tracks before I could get started because the water valve was stuck. I immediately went to my go to WD40 which at first did nothing. Luckily, I came across your video and thank God that I did because I boiled the water as you suggested, soaked an old rag in it, and placed exactly where you said on the valve. I let it sit there for about 10 minutes. Of course, when I took it off, the rag was very cold. I then started the back and forth turning the valve slowly from left to right and back. Sure enough, it worked. I was on to changing out my valve and flapper seal in just a few minutes. Thanks! This video was just the one I needed. Easy peasy!
A word of warning , beware of the 1/4 turn valves they look the same as regular valves. Most of the time they have the word 1/4 turn printed lightly on the handle but need to look close to verify. It will save you from spending a bunch of time fiddling with it only to break it because you did`nt know.
They call it the angle stop I believe
What do you do if its an angle stop? I have one and it just won't budge
Worked like a charm! Thanks so much! You are the best
My toilet valve wouldn’t even budge a little, Tried this and it worked! Thanks!!
Very glad it helped you. Thank you for watching and please Subscribe for more upcoming videos. Best wishes
Thank you for this video, worked like a charm. It saved my Saturday from becoming much more aggravating and expensive.
This actually worked thank you so much!
Very helpful, simple, to the point. Thanks!
This hot towel +WD40 trick worked out very well. I did not need to replace the shutoff valve. Thank you!!
Helpful video!!! Worked perfectly for mine.
This worked like a charm for me. Thanks for posting!
Glad it helped!
Another tip when it comes to valves both large an small don’t open them all the way then if they freeze up you have some play to work with to free up the froze up valve!,
Thank you so much. I have not tried it yet but I am feeling confident. I am an old lady who just does not want to call a plumber unless necessary
This worked GREAT! Thanks!
That was awesome man you saved me big time very thorough easy to understand and not too long. I subscribed. Plumbing is interesting to me.
Helped me yet again !! Thank you Silver Cymbal !!
So glad it helped!
Thanks! Worked like a charm!
Liked this . Am going to try it. Thanks
This was so helpful! In my situation, the valve was very old and had lots of calcium buildup so I had to slightly push the valve in as I turned in the last step and it worked like a charm.
How did you get rid of the calcium? Thanks
Thank you! This method worked perfectly!
Thank you. The hot water trick worked for me.
Most helpful video in the subject.
Thank you 🙏
Huge help it worked!
Excellent! Great help! I also tapped on 3 sides for a bit. Then I just needed a gentle but firm nudge with a wrench and we were good to go. :)
This worked great for me! Thank you so much for posting this very helpful video.
Thank you so much. Followed the instructions and it worked! Awesome!
It worked! I had to use additional hot water and leave it on longer and slowly force turn the valve after adding additional oil forget it underneath the nut; then I was finally able to shut off the valve all the way. Thanks!
I tried this and it worked!! You saved me from calling a plumber. Thank you!!
Thanks for the great ideas!
I used cooking oil and hair dryer instead, and then tapped it with a ranch to loose it. Worked!!!
I'll give it a shot. Thanks brother.
