- Sour milk, whey, and excess raw skim milk are great feed for chicks as a legimate source of protein, vitamins, and probiotics.

Very interesting Mark 👍
I'm glad to have found you and your channel again sir. It's been 10 years since i last followed you. Thank you marxist youtube for unfollowing me.
You look great Mark!
Grandpa had a butter fat dairy (14 cows) hand milked they only picked up the cream. So both the weaner pigs and chickens got skimmed milk. Healthy, and they love it.
Thanks Mark!
My pleasure!
Our layer chicks and meatbird chicks and chickens, ducks, and turkeys get raw (goat/sheep) milk - usually a little soured or skimmed. I will also give my chicks an apple core to peck or rinds of melons or squash and definitely leftover scrambled eggs. Once they are older, they absolutely get all food scraps.
Bresse chickens, probably the finest tasting of all the very many chicken lines out there, are traditionally finished in France on grain soaked in milk. Great minds think alike!
That's the truth!
👍
I ferment laying hen grain with raw milk. They love it.
Haven’t tried it with meat birds. Why not?!
That's a great idea! Exactly. Why not?
Keep us updated, please.
I wonder how adding powdered milk to their feed would work. And i wonder if adding milk to the adult hens' feed would be beneficial.
Giving the hens raw fat in the winter boosts their egg production, so it would make sense that giving them milk would help, too. It would be interesting to see if non fat vs. whole milk would be any different. The protein content is about the same, so it'd be the fat at issue. Hmmm....
Shawn and Beth Doughtery feed their farm through the milk cow. Check them out. Thanks!!☺
Ok thanks!
