This is song from the 1984 movie and album of the same name ‘Purple Rain’. This is the album that made P a superstar. It’s a great uptempo song…a Prince uptempo classic! 💜
I actually had not seen this Prince clip. He was a genius and a consummate showman. I saw him in concert in 1986 and he was amazing.

@@tracynorman1455 No, I have never seen the movie! I might could find it online to watch. The concert was back in 1985 at Summit in Houston. I paid for our tickets and my older friend camped out to get them. We snuck out to go to concert. Lol. My parents thought he was "vulgar"!

In context of the movie, Purple Rain, "the Kid" (Prince's character) was on a mission as an up and coming musician, was trying to win the affections of a young and beautiful up and coming singer, Apollonia, who was at the club during this performance. She was attracted to the Kid's nemesis who was played by Morris Day of the Time. During this period of Prince's career, he had an alter ego, Jamie Start, which he used to produce other artists; Sheila E., and his first girl group, Vanity 6. Prince would soon adapt another alter ego, Joey Coco, to produce and elevate another real life pop star, Sheena Easton (Sugar Walls, U Got the Look). The man's talents knew no bounds!
Prince!! Love it, and I hope you’ll do more Prince reactions. He played all his instruments, sang every note, wrote, and produced many of his songs by himself. Plus, as you can see, he was a great performer and dancer.

This song is from the movie he starred in Called Purple Rain. He directed its sequel Graffiti Bridge.
He also Starred in Under The Cherry Moon.
This energy level is the default for most of Prince's stuff. Many people start with Purple Rain, When Doves Cry etc, which are slower, more moody songs, which are great. But Prince was an energy guy, seemed to never get tired, was known to only sleep 4-5 hrs a night etc. He could dance his ass off & work an audience as well or better than almost any performer. His live concerts were just total energy.

Anything by Prince is great. He had some very risqué songs back in the day. I was thinking that you were doing the live version of the song which is longer and even more energetic. This version is from the movie, but was recorded live from a different show.
