- This is the Vagabond Falcon! She works! It's time to review what a 1960 Ford Falcon is like with a swapped 302 or 5.0 Windsor V8, Ford AOD trans, Explorer 8.8 rear. Thank you to Bruce Henn for making this Dream car real. Thank you to all of you who like RCR!

EM is dead. Fink is dead. All hail Bruce. The Vagabond Falcon remembers Bruce. Silicone Sally remembers Bruce. The Echo lived and died for Bruce. All hail Bruce.
The universe will forever remember EM and Fink
A lunchable, some mountain dew livewire, and vagabond falcon at 3AM, I'm living the life.
live wire? where? tell me now!
Went through Ohio last year and it was still at gas stations. NEO.
Lunchable? Eww how about a fresh sandwich
Sounds good. Kinda like econo-beer and pizza.
RAD
RCR vagabond falcon should appear on Jay Leno's Garage!
Good idea!
Jay leno: "yeah i had a guy killed for that car too."
I second that! 💯💯
A 1969 mustang 302 BOSS is better
PAT Barbaro so?
The final statement he makes about being caretakers of cars made me tear up. I love my car, but I know that I won't be driving her forever, and some day I need to pass it onto the next owner. It was my first car that I bought with my own money out of highschool, and I remember hand washing and waxing it at least every other week, and I remember all the times I spent my weekends underneath her to do some maintenance or modifying. It's such an odd feeling to be so attached to a collection of metal and plastic, but I still smile every time I start it. I hope whoever buys it from me feels the same affection for it that I have.
Nigga just keep it lmao
If you can, never get rid of it. I've heard too many stories about people wishing they'd kept their first car, which is why I'm bound and determined to hold on to my truck.
Iron is eternal
Das_Bass correct
The statement applies for motorcycles too. My first bike is a Ninja 250. The time has come and I think I'm ready for a bigger bike. I thought "Okay, well if I'm moving forward, the Ninja should probably go to another new rider who wants to learn like I did." And then I posted it up for sale online and less than a minute in, I took the bike off of the site. I couldn't do it. I realized that despite wanting a bigger and faster bike, I love my Ninja 250 for what it is. So with that, the Ninja stays and will become a sibling to whatever bike comes next. I'll ride them both and love them both for what they are.
God the last few lines are beautiful. "I hope her next owner will love her as much as I do". Mr. Regular, you poet.
One week ago, we mourned and reflected
About how the past, has affected our present
Today this Ford Falcon, with its torquey 302
Can show us something, that we never knew
Despite mass production, its engines' unique
Because Bruce wanted perfection, more than his sleep
Over fifty years difference, the age of the parts
All come together, to make functional art
A view to the past, this Falcon is not
For as intended, this car isn't stock
This car was revived, by a stranger's hand
A testament to love, this vehicle now stands
And a reflection of Americans, both current and past
This reminds me of "The way of the bro in his terrible 5.0"
good one!
nice
Epic.

"Perhaps the impulse to return is a sign that one has grown up, an acknowledgement of the way the good times pass us. We go back in space because we can't go back in time."

Farewell vagabond falcon, you were a great car. Can't wait to see rcr new project car.
"I'm just its care taker for a while, I will hold on as long as I can and when it passes from my hands I hope its next owner loves it as much as I did" , beautiful. Couldn't have said it better myself
That aged well
3:08
I read that as Pype Sex Haust.
What is wrong with me
HAHA I did too, he's given shout outs to them in other videos too..... I see it that way EVERY time too!! Guess Pypes didn't look at that one on paper before finalizing! LOL
MMMMHHHMPYPES
Yep, me too.
Yep, theres something wrong with me as well
The reason you guys are reading it that way is because the typeface / font wasn't kerned correctly. Graphic design major, have to use my knowledge somehow
That last line is even more poetic now that he's selling her...
So, Vagabond Falcon now has
*m-PYPES*
*m-PYPES*
*m-PYPES*
but do they sing?
BIMMER BIMMER BIMMER
Too bad that pipe is going to melt.
Total pypeSEXhaust
Here's my toy pypes...
I love the name of the engine. That's amazing. Never change, RCR.
Damn walcom, I see you pretty much everywhere man.
***** I watched RCR before I started my channel. I know dick-all about cars and Mr. Regular and Roman have helped me fill in a few of the gaps.
HOLY SHIT IT'S WALCOM
redeemer haha. it's all its own and it redeemed that falcon!
WalcomS7 your a car person
Advantages of staying up way later than you should.
Or, in my case, the advantages of 12-hour night shifts.
Same.
Advantages of living down under.. casually watching in the evening.
Advantages of having a shit ton of hw
Advantages of living in Europe. It is already morning!
There was the Mystery Machine, the Batmobile, Kavinsky's Tesstarosa,
Now there is RCR's Vagabond Falcon.
Seriously you should try to get this car into a movie it's such a recognizable build here
Linus Cleveland Don't forget Boris' VW Golf (Blyatmobile)
The poor Blyatmobile. :(
I hope a majority of viewers understand the last part and take it to heart.
Keeping these alive now, keeps American cars alive for generations to come.
My first car was a 1962 Ford Falcon. Bought used for $150. Drove it for years. Truly bullet proof. Miss it!
OMG those smoker windows are amazing aren't they??? They blow air directly onto your sweaty BALLS from the lack of A/C. My '67 Camaro has them. My favorite 1st Gen for that reason alone.
"We go back in space, because we can't go back in time." - Samuel Hynes. Gave me chills as you explained it. It describes nostalgia so perfectly it feels a bit like nostalgia, itself.
Who else cried at his ending?
Me
I did.
This is a chick flik for guys. I need a box of tissues and a beer.
Almost
Oof fuck. Yeah I really wasn't expecting that last bit to be that much of a gut punch.
I wholly agree with "No replacement for displacement." I'm a fan of my little four banger turbos and such, but damn, the torque and power to spare I had when I once rented a Grand Prix GXP was just incredible, and that was a "meager" 303 HP. Doing probably 75 down a highway in Utah with that baby, punched it just to see what happens, and I think I briefly went to plaid.
Some of those grand prix's had superchargers so it my have went from suck to blow!
wow. thank you for that ending, really sunk me in my seat. made me regret that I sold my classic Mercedes Fintail. well I guess I should sell my sportbike and go back to my old thinking. Thank you
Thumbs up if the ending made you cry too
I love Regular Car Reviews so much, I hope he never stops, the writing is just so good, and the story he gives is just too good. I never want to watch another car review again unless its under these guys' pens.
Manly tears were shed, this is a message to all car owners out there: Love and respect your car.
*****
EZRA POUND
Agreed.
A bug flew into my eye at that very moment, I WAS NOT TEARFUL. As always Mr. Regular you nailed it.
That ending make me gain a whole new respect for Mr. Regular. I wish the best for him and the car he is taking car of ❤
Man, those last few remarks put a tear in my eye. I know that feeling of "going back", I listen to old Jazz Records, I mess with classic cars and I use analog things.
As an Aussie who has a love of the Ford Falcon like no other car this brought a tears to my eyes especially how the last Falcon rolled of the production line today in Australia. This car is lovely and deserved to be maintained and cherished for at least another 56 years.
The last speech towards the end was so touching and it sums up owning a classic car perfectly
Good god... RCR is always so surprising... from those times where he takes a car and overdescribes 'the people who drive this' and goes really deep in some stories... And now, this highly philosophical ending that got me by the feels...
please never stop.
I bet you could sell the hell out of "Bruce says don't worry!" tee shirts with an image of the Falcon in the graphic.
Legion of Weirdos I would buy
My dad had a '63 Falcon, and I'm a really mellow guy named Bruce. One XL and one M, please.
@@Th0tsandprayers Me too
The money just prints itself
Take my money
That ending almost made me tear. What a powerful car review.
I don't think I've ever cried after watching a Regular Car video but that was truly beautiful.
Just the entire spirit of what it means to make something and believe it in it.
Especially that line about "you can't go back in time, so we go back in space."
As well as "this isn't mine, I'm just it's caretaker for a while."
I don't think I could respect this video or you guys more after this. Thanks so much for making this.
Regular Car Reviews, the only channel where I learn a thing or two about car engineering, car culture, literature, american culture and world history and a lot more all in one video.
Please never stop making videos.
Congrats buddy, your mild custom Falcon is truly reflection of who you are!
Are you gonna do a POV after this? We never really heard the engine.
Yes!
yay i love the pov's but i expect this one will be special. :)
Yay!
spacial ed!
Thank you!
Hearing you wax poetic about your ride was kinda beautiful. I don't really know why we get so attached to auto's, but when you find one that speaks to you, it is a very special thing. Congrats on your build man. I am happy for you.
I’ve never felt so proud to drive a Falcon. Thank you for this perspective.
That ending was more emotionally impacting then I expected.
Just woke up for my job and this gem shows up
Looks like you're gonna be late for work now
I actually stalled school just to watch this
I'm taking a shit watching this
Why aren't you my principal/teacher?
I'm also taking a shit watching this.
After finding this channel while the build was going on, and watching those videos while you finished it, this brings a tear to my eye. Such a special journey, and such a priceless relationship.
That was so cool. Poetically accurate in the last 5 mins of it. The quote from Flights of Passage I had never heard before, but perfectly captures what so many people unconsciously do when buying an old car, or going to the same vacation place or taking a deep breath in a vacant house before walking out the last time. Such brutal raw poetic truth. Thank you!
Watching the progress of this car has been pretty astounding. You've all done a wonderful thing here. The car, and this summary of it are just pure poetry.
Dude, I almost cried at the end....
I'm 39yo, my dad had a 67' Falcon when I was a young kid. My brothers and me in the back telling my dad to gun it and jump the rail road tracks(big hill). Got air. Thanks Dad, love that memory, love you.
This is incredible, thank you all for making this.
The idea of getting an old Nova or an old Maverick is starting to be more and more tempting.
That was a beautiful ending to a great series. We appreciate everything you do, Mr. Regular. Keep up the good work
What an amazing car. I didn't know how much work went into this thing!
one serious and heartwarming episode! The feels! long live Ford Falcon!
This video is basically a well-organized set of "Special Thanks" credits...that's a real solid, showcasing the hard work of all of every person on this team. May you keep doing your for a long time!
Bruce. Fucking. Henn.
The mechanic we all want, but the mechanic that few of us deserve.
Anyone else watching this after he just announced that he's selling it?
Me. Can’t believe it.
A true love letter to classic cars. So great to see that the Falcon is finished (as close as a project car can be)!
This channel has come so far, well done guys.
Damn that final passage hit the feels.
Now that, is a car with character, and a great story behind it.
I'm so glad I watched this, it's one of the most awesome car videos I'v ever seen.
Keep up the great videos on your channel, and enjoy your new dream car!
Beautiful to see her finally done. Great review. That ending was oddly... emotional.
Well done for seeing the project through to a running, driving, living and evolving car again. A project is never truly finished, but now SHE'S ALIVE!!!... A vast number of people will have no idea how hard it can be to create something truly unique, but I appreciate how hard you and your team of engineers have worked to create this and make it work well...
I own a 1965 Falcon. And I must say this is almost exactly what I want for my car.
It's so odd to come back to this video after the recent announcement of the Vagabond's future departure.
Great video. I'm so glad you finished the project to the end. She's beautiful.
Mr. Regular, you have almost single-handedly gotten me hopelessly in love with learning about cars and the context by which they were created. I cannot thank you and Roman and RCR enough. I always look forward to Monday. I hope you come to Rhinelander, Wisconsin someday! There's lots of regular cars here.
Definitely a cool build. nothing over the top. Just a perfect driver that still keeps the classic vibe.
hey, no mention for the Falcon in Argentina? basically this car, produced for 30 years straight
it was the family-sport-taxi-cop and military car
always 6-cyl, column 3, or floored 4. huge fan base, and a lot of the cars are still going around
(considering last Argentinean dictatorship: don't buy a green falcon, the military is going to stop you, and steal the hell out of this car, and that started to hurt the perception of the falcon as a kidnap car, other than that, the falcon is a great car.
This! The Falcon is an iconic car in Argentina, here, it was far more popular than it ever got in the US (although a bit less than in Australia). The Falcon was produced, almost unchanged from the 1960s model, until 1991 (I believe) and as Bruno said there are still A LOT of them roaming around.
When I went to Argentina I saw a red Falcon just like Mr Regular's. I couldn't manage to take a picture in time but it was really well kept.
Saw five red Falcons in a single week. It is understated how popular that car is in Argentina.
is argentina white?
Corkoth, you must come from /r/Argentina
Someone at RCR is a wrestling fan. First Bobby Roode's theme and now Sammi Zayne
Bobby Rooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
I think it might be Mr.Regular himself. In one of his reviews he said something to the effect of "This car has been on the shelf longer than Daniel Bryan."
He's made a few joke about Bryan
wow thats BURN
The last few minutes of this episode were so beautiful I had to rewind and watch again.
I'm happy to see the car completed and on the road. I love the understated appearance, you and your team of helpers did a great job. And, I also agree with Matt, we are only caretakers of these cars.
'Butt dyno' That needs to be a shirt
I know
Wow, I mean wow. That was beautiful. Thank you. This has been so good to watch over the time. And yeah, we go back in space. So deep man, so deep.
I love the poetic quips often found in your videos. ''The Vagabond Falcon really isn't mine, I'm just it's caretaker for awhile I will hold on to this vehicle for as long as I can But when it passes from my hands, I hope her next owner...Will love her as much I do''. Really got me with that one. As a car lover that one hit home.
WELL DONE SIRS!!! Please keep up your auto literature adventures for all of US. Grew up in Penn Hills PA in the 60s when these wondercars were new.
I had a 1980 El Camino SS, really nice car, orange and black two-tone paint, centerline wheels, nice 305's in the back, flowmaster 40 series, A/C and a few engine mods. I loved that car, i always thought I would be able to pass it down to my son (if I were to have one) or my nephew. Too bad I had to sell her one day due to my father being sick, hopefully someday I'll be able to start again. Take care of the Falcon, it's a beauty.
As it's an AOD, DO NOT floor it in overdrive. Use 3 or Ylyou'll blow out said overdrive. I learned that the hard way in my 1990 Thunderbird.
TalenGryphon My truck has a 4R70W and it can be floored in 4th. It WILL drop to 3/2 if needed (theoretically 1 if speed is low enough. Never is since it's a W) I would have put a 4.2 Essex in this Falcon and the truck 4R70W in it.
TalenGryphon AOD trans. splits the pressure between 3rd and 4th due to the direct clutch shaft. This smooths the shifting, but creates wearing in the involded parts. The AOD overdrive band is 1.5 " and 4r70w is 2". towing or flooring are bad for this band.
I did the baumann shift kit in mine and the Sonnax OD servo.
You had a 90 thunderbird. That was your problem
The falcon is rare
@@ianholmquist8492 FOR real
Honestly a truly beautiful car and an amazing work of passion. I hope that this beast stays ticking for decades to come!
I never knew my Grandfathers, they both passed before I was born. But I'd like to think that both of them would have loved this car. May you enjoy many miles with her, Mr. Regular!
Hello random person scrolling through the comment section!
Heyooooo
hi
is that end song a re-sung version of "Closer"? lmao so trendy
Hi random Mr Johnson who addresses me, this is random person from Canada! I like cars too
Heyy! what up dude!
RCR's magnum opus
Very touching video. Your view on cars is really similar to mine. Congratulations for completing the build and making it fit your character, and hope you enjoy it for years to come!!
In Australia this was our first fully built locally Ford. Panels. Engine. Trim. We called it the XK. Initially popular it was underdeveloped for rough Aussie roads. Ball joints failed and the front suspension couldn’t cope. The engine was the in line 6 that persisted( with massive changes) till 2017. With the subsequent XL and XM massive suspension reinforcements improved durability. The Falcon got the beefed up front from the US Fairlane. Then Falcon was ready to become the ‘great Australian road car’ !
There should have been a feelz alert for that last part.
Great work! We're so happy we could help out with this awesome project!
I might have to put this restoration job in my top ten favorite cars of all time. What a fantastic little machine you have built!
"We go back in space because we can't go back in time", it is indeed a great line. I'm a hyper nostalgic person I like visiting towns, neighborhoods, houses I grew up in and playing video games, musics, movies I grew up with.
16:13 my eyes got something in them! but seriously such a beautiful way to put it!
Just sold. Hope simmykenz enjoys this car!
So very well written. Clearly from the heart. I wonder what non-carguys are able to feel this passionate about. Oh wait...have you ever met a train guy? You should totally review a locomotive! Omg yes please!
Hell YES!!!
my very first car i ever had was a turquoise 1960 falcon with the straight 6 and 3 on the tree. i bought it in pretty good damn shape for 500 bucks here in kansas over 10 years ago before i was even legal to drive. spent a year tinkering with it and replacing things in the barn at my parents before i got my license. was a fantastically fun car for a 16 yr old kid going to high-school and working at McDonald's to drive around. was always an adventure, had to keep an an assortment of spare parts, tools, jumpers, oil, grease, tarps, jacks, stands, gasoline and always make sure to leave early for anything. as a kid i dreamed about about doing something like this. thanks for the video man. brings back alot of good and bad memories that i cherish to this day.
the top gear toyota hilux was also a unibody after the last challenge.
RCR, the best, You guys truly deserved this creation, so be proud of the Vagabond Falcon and keep it up that exquisitly awesome work You accomplish on a regular basis... :) Cheers from Hungary :D
I'm sitting in an old 91 Camaro that I am restoring. I had one of these cars when I young man and it was totaled in an accident. I grew up in that car, first kiss was in it, first beer was sitting on the hood, hanging out friends till 3 am smoking cigarettes and playing our guitars. So now that I have a replacement, and I'm a much older person. I just got it running shortly before the ending of this video. I cried at your ending. We go back to spaces... Thanks for making awesome content.
You did a great job with this video and summarized the project wonderfully! I even learned a few things that will likely be useful, such as being able to use the early timing cover on the later blocks with a little drilling. Thanks for bringing us along for the ride...
not gonna put a "REGULAR" plate on it?
would make it less regular
Nah, VG8ND would be better.
Fiber..
Regular and brown.
SO FANCYYY
ha
I'm from NZ and well... Falcons are kinda douchey here, but to be a true douche you need to drive a Holden Commodore, well, at least, in my opinion anyways :)
As soon as they're old theres exceptions to that rule!
true, although i can't talk shit cause I've never driven one :(
Completely different falcons anyway.
Both the Commodore and Falcon are super bogan cars here, to the point of being cliche. Which is a shame, because they are both really fun to drive.
i've yet to drive one
Awesome car and beautiful video. Makes me wanna tear apart my 1951 Ford and rebuild it to something like this.
I am a collision tech and after work for 2 years I stripped down my 1971 Chevelle and fixed and replaced everything. After all of the work that went into it I think we both would agree that they are now priceless. I would sell my kidney before I sell my baby. That's what makes a car so special to it's owner. Your Falcon is gorgeous.
That last little bit at the end made my cry engine oil tears
That Hardtop S2000 though...
Beautiful! Beautiful! I'm so happy for you guys that it is built and I'm happy that your show keeps educating and entertaining me on the regular.
-from Vallejo, California
Thanks for doing these videos. I follow RCR on Reddit, but I didn't know you had a Falcon. I have a 1961 in my garage inherited from granddad who bought it new.
Truly a regular car.
This hit me in the feels so hard
I just love this car I love all the parts used except for the wheels the engine has just enough power not too much or too little its just amazing
nice
I like aluminum wheels on most anything. but those wheels look right on it. I would've fuel injected it tho.
mechanical or electronic fuel injection
I really must say, Mr. Regular you're a great writer. I would be damned if I said I wasn't deeply touched by the ending of this review. The passion and love for this car that you expressed is magical, I would be lying if I said the parallels you drew to the common man's existence didn't tug me at the bottom of my heart. Thank you for expressing this passion and for doing so in such an elegant manner.
The end of your video hit me right in the feels. Many of us who own a classic car have the same sentiments. You expressed it in such a poetic manner, that's why I'm a fan.
