you were laughed at because it was a heap of shite, your mates were right, its only something Franco Cozzo would be proud of, it was so slow back in the day a Toyota Camry would blow its 2bbl 245 truck motor away, and thats a family sedan, if you were chasing a hot girl in the late 70s you would not boast that your wheels were a pacer as you would be given the cold shoulder, most valiants had dark tinted windows for a reason

A work mate had a 6 Pack Charger ( E38? tell me if I'm wrong. ) with a later model ( E 49 ? ) 4 speed gearbox. Opened my eyes to Mopar. I can tell you no tyres were available in those days that could get it off the line sanely and it still toyed with the 308/302 mob ! Another had an early 70's Val Ute with a 318 Fireball, 727 Auto and LSD. It would " bag up " from a standing start in a straight line with ridiculous eaze ! And needed a GT or worked over 5 litre to challenge it at Darwin's early 80's drag strips. 😎👍

we had a two door pacer back in the late 70s, you were embarrassed to own one or be seen in one, they were really wog chariots, the 245-265 hemi's never had a retainer for the camshaft so the cam floated back and forth making noise and metal filings, ours seized after some flat out runs and we dumped it at the tip, they were really a wore full car that no one wanted

My last VG Pacer project ended up in your showroom, a real oddball colour, couldnt sell it for the right money a decade ago, slap a quick spraycan jon all over it in green and finally someone bought it for triple what I asked years later, the Aust market is bizarre.
