Swap receiver when one of your hearing aids is not working is a very good idea. I did it and I knew immediately that the right receiver was faulty. Thank you very much.

Hi Dr. Cliff......I Appreciate Your Concise And Informative Videos.....I Am Having A Similar Problem With One Of My Nearly * Year Old Kirkland Signature 6.0 (Resound) Hearing Ads....The Left Aid Only Works On One Program (Restaurant)...The Right Aid Operates On Both... Both Aids Have Been Cleaned And I Am Wondering If The Problem Is The Microphone Or (IF Equipped) A Clogged Microphone Filter,,,,Can I Check The Filter Or Do You Feel That This Should Be Handled By A Hearing Care Professional? Costco Does Not Support Repairs On Heaing Aids As Old As Mine....Do You Feel That Due To The Age Of The Hearing Aids, Replacement Is More Adviseable Than Repairs? Thanks Again!!

Hey, Doc. I wanted an opinion on a hearing issue I've been having for a couple years. I woke from a nap during August of 2021 and my right ear felt full. After that i noticed sound was muffled. I can still hear most sounds okay, but sounds from my own body and some types of white noise are really hard to hear in that ear: stuff like humming, smacking, etc. Sounds like it could be SSHL, but i haven't been able to get it looked at. Wanted to know what you thought about the situation.

My hearing aides are nearly 8 years old. I'm looking into getting some new ones. Just haven't been able to figure out the best route to take. Your suggestion is greatly appreciated. I saw a hearing clinic at Sam's Club. What do you think? Any suggestion you have will help.

One of my rechargeable (Phonak) aides played dead one day. It had gone into ‘shipping mode’ and would not charge or function. The answer was to hold it’s switch in the ‘off’ position for 15 seconds then stick it back in the charger - came straight back to life with it’s original charge showing on the smartphone app

Hey Cliff, I became deaf from Mineres disease. I now have a cochlear implant. I think the biggest struggle I have in my life is that no one wants to take a chance on me because I'm deaf. I've applied and applied to many jobs, and I feel like it's because I'm deaf they don't want to take a chance at hiring me. I have decided to go to school for audiology. I want to help people who struggle with the same things I did. Do you think you can make a video or a series on advice for future audiologist. Thanks!

Phillips hearing aids tend to stop working on one side a lot. Taking off and putting back on the plastic in ear dome often fixes the problem. Sometimes I have to replace the wax filter. They do seem to connect to the phone app even when not working. I think I either have a short in the receiver wire or my ear wax problem is bad.

Excellent tip on removing the receiver by pulling on the speaker, not by pulling on the wire. Makes sense, but I have never been told that. If one of my aids apparently stops working, the FIRST thing I check is the filter. Sounds like you put that last. That is usually the problem. THANKS!

The delicate receiver wire to my right ReSound Lynx custom earmold, with canal lock, broke. Warranty does not cover $495 repair. Decided to buy new Unitron rechargeable, supposedly better music reproduction, new warranty. "Baby" that receiver wire when removing earmolds. Glued-on canal locks are also delicate, glue joint may break if HA is dropped or used to remove earmolds from ears. More robust receiver wires and canal lock mounting would be a selling point as would warranty coverage.

Try a different aid!!! 2 months ago my right HA stopped working. I knew it was turning on, but no sound. Fortunately, I had an extra custom mold with receiver, and IT WORKED. So, I knew either my receiver or receiver wire was bad. Flash forward to last week when I saw my AUD. He simply put in a new wax trap and it worked, WHAT!. I had no idea. Now I am going to change them monthly weather I need to or not. I only have one question Dr. Cliff. Why wasn't this video released 2 months ago???

Wow. So much good information so early in the morning. Technology is fantastic . However, as fantastic technology is, there’s a multitude of reasons things stop working. In most cases for me is operator error. I saved this video so i have a trouble showing guide to follow when sounds get wonky. I have issues with the battery dying at the most inopertune time. The problem most likely is that the user,me,wakes up at 3 am, does a lot of streaming and the battery life ends after 10-14 hours. I need to adjust my wear time so the batteries are running when I need them. It’s a good thing I have a great audiologists, Dr. Scot Frink, there to assist me if issues arise. My issues stem from being a non nerd. Even though I follow the Phonak troubleshooting guide, there are times when I can’t figure out the instructions. There are some things the instructions are telling me to do that I don’t want to do until i get an ok from someone who knows a lot more than me. Phonak online support is very helpful but I haven’t had a response to my current situation. That or I deleted their response when cleaning up my inbox. . Yahoo is discontinuing their one of their apps and I want my account in order when that happens at the end of the month. Luckily i have a great audiologist, Dr. Frink, and this fantastic guide to walk me through the process. Thanks for this video and no, I am not related to either Dr. Fink or you when i post my opinion.

@@gbkworf I am also EXXTRREEAAMMMLLYYY. Picky with sound quality, its not my audiologist’s fault, so please so not bash my audiologist because they are wonderful and know what they’re doing,. Its my personal perception of the sound and the devices are not for for musicians! Im a musician and I am different then you! That’s nice for you if you had luck with them, but for me they are absolutely horrible if I were not a musician i’d maybe tolerate it.. the automatic features in the lumity’s are absolutely sh**t.. the feedback manager is extremely horrible and can be aggressive, and those devices are not good. again, my audiologist is an audigy certified practice and they follow best practices, my hearing aids have been fit with REM’s multiple times, ive had molds on them too, they were fit how they were supposed to but they’re clearly not fit for me, the one mistake I made was switching out of lyric, or the fact that my audiologist didn’t let me try widex.. and I don’t care if im not a candidate for lyric but im probably switching back to lyric.. I have a flat moderate hearing loss…
