Just had sleep paralysis from this last night on a weather alert and then it switched to an amber alert. I tried screaming but I couldn’t scream and I was trying to find my Dad and I just remembered how scared I was the entire time 😭

Amber alerts started when the little girl back in 1996 was abducted and killed in Texas, now known as Amber Alerts was started, I dont know what year Canada started it, and yes Amber alerts are mostly common in Texas

Before the EAS included Amber Alerts nationwide, they had to use some kind of header that would get your attention, and a synth nerd at KRLD-AM made it. It's an interesting story, but not much is written about it for the public, more a niche topic for researchers (I'm one, broadcast history and Native American history are my 2 focuses.) Interestingly enough, it's also the reason they use the live voice version...preserving a bit of history.
