- We've all seen the statistics. All the polls show it. People are leaving the Catholic church, Especially the youth.
In the United States:
4 out of 5 cradle Catholics, who were brought up in the novus ordo, leave the faith by age 23.
the percent of Americans who self identify as Catholic, with a 70 year average of 25%, is currently 22, 23%
Of those people less than half attend mass at all, of that roughly half attend only Easter and Christmas.
The number of people who identify as Catholic who actually attend mass regularly is some where around 15 to 20%
Prior to the second Vatican council regular mass attendance among Catholics was over 70%
And of course, we all know that the fastest growing religious denomination is ex-catholic.
So what happened?

I returned after 40 years. I didn't not recognize the Church. People clapping, holding hands, using the orans position. It felt like the few Protestant churches I had been too. The reverence was no longer there as I remember it from my childhood. There is so much confusion in me now. I love Catholicism but it saddens me to see how man has changed it.
I can appreciate your feelings. I am trying to return after 54 years, the past 35 in the Reformed church. I, too, did not recognize the Mass. What troubles me most besides the things you noted along with Altar girls and communion on the tongue, is the overuse of the Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. I'd say that the vast majority of today's parishoners do not understand the Mass. I can attend a TLM about 45 minutes away, but won't be able to participate in adult ed, etc.
@@michaelmasztal7871 I left the Church but never attended another denomination unless for a wedding etc. I agree with you, the use of EM and female altar servers was something i had never seen before returning. They were just starting communion in the hand, which my parents thankfully would not participate in and taught us not to either. I pray we can both find a parish where we feel at Home again.
Try to attend a Traditional Latin Mass. You’ll find what you need there.

@@sleepystar1638 More of an observation and yearning for the Catholic church I remember than a complaint. It's not easy to get to a TLM when you live in the bible belt. I have found a more reverent NO church that holds true to many of the traditions from times past.
As a revert who has only ever attended the TLM in the past, I am disappointed that the local parish who offers weekly adult ed classes does not offer the TLM. Mind you, this parish offers the Mass 6 different times each weekend. I'd think that at least one would be the TLM as it is gaining popularity in recent years.

It was left up the the Bishops,I am in the Carolinas we are fortunate enough to have a Priest. Now I know that some Traditional Latin Mass folks are there will say will there are . That maybe true however 3 hr drive across the state is a No Go for a 72 yr. Disabled Vet. I must say that we do have a good N.O. Priest and Decons.
Yes we were told this would happen. If you are a Catholic and devout at that…you won’t leave. Also don’t forget we need priests! We have needed priests and this is part of the problem.
I started my RCIA in a strictly NO parish. I eventually moved to a new parish with TLM. RCIA is taught by a lay man, but the difference in teaching is night and day. I feel so blessed so have such a authentic and honest, traditional parish near me. SO to Saint Monica’s in Duluth, Georgia!

@@GabrielWithoutWings yes, that’s ablaze. We are going through the Baltimore Catechism. This however is an additional OCIA class to prepare for sacraments. It’s a lot smaller group.

I'm in Toronto. I went back to church for the first time in over 30 years on my own. Went a few times for funerals and such but never on my own . I hated church as young boy. My parents are Portuguese, they made me go. Me and my brother would skip church sometimes , most times just eager to leave if we were there lol. The Holy Communion made me gag , it was awful tasting . I spit it out during first communion. Id hide it in a book or something, the taste was awful. I was confirmed I went to a Catholic school. A few years ago I was very depressed , still battling but I started to pray . Good things started happening, Signs everywhere . The signs just kept coming and coming and coming. Little things here and there It would take me a while to explain. I kept saying " is this God" ...finally a pastor gave me a Bible . The pastor is my auto insurance broker lol. Since I was 16, I was 41 when I called him to talk on the advise of my brother who is not religious but told me to call for a positive talk because he has helped my brother with positive talks. I explained my situation, cried , he started crying . Told me was addicted to cocaine , pornography and almost choked his girlfriend to death when he was 33. Turned to God and was saved . Cried everyday for 3 years! It motivated me .I went for lunch with him 4 weeks later . He gave me a Bible. For the first time ever I had a desire to read it and try and understand it. The day after I started reading it I met a man in the park . I randomly said hello to this stranger. Something was telling me just say hi to this man so I did . I never do these things . About 30 seconds into the talk with the man he says " God wanted us to meet today " . I freaked . Turns out he's a pastor. He told me ten minutes later. Told me many things about God and my life and troubles . He was a Catholic but turned pentacostal. I started calling myself Christian , believing in the regular pentacostal stuff. In talking to young 21 year old I know who I found out became a pretty devout Catholic he schooled me on some things about Catholicism. Through watching CZcams videos and priests I slowly came back . Recently , like a few weeks ago I learned more about the RCC ,and early church fathers. I started realizing it's the first church then the shism came , then , Martin Luther came years later and what? He got it right? After all this time ? Naw ...lol . I came back baby . I'm catholic. I went to confession , went to Mass , took the eucharist , got a rosary from rugged rosaries and I'm doing one a day . This channel has helped solidify my faith even more. The church near me has a decent size on Saturday and Sunday . It is mostly older people. Toronto has a deep catholic history due to all the Italians , polish and Portuguese here . As well as Irish , other Europeans and south Americans . But Its still going . I can clearly see not many young ppl there but it's still going. I got my friend back too. He prays , goes to church . I'm getting him to confession and rosaries . We won't die . We are the true church . The great miracles happen to catholics in Catholic nations like Fatima , Lourdes , eucharist miracles. These things also made me realize it's the true church . That's my little testimony . And oh yeah , not long ago . I was about a 20-minute walk away from my house with a friend , I told him I'd walk home because I was in his car , just decided to walk. On my walk home I see a little sticky not on a street pole . I saw it and then I saw a whole bunch of them all around my neighborhood at mailboxes , street lamps , recycle bins ......someone took those little square stick note papers and wrote on every one individually and placed all over in places ppl would walk and see and on them it said "NORMAL ISN'T COMING BACK , JESUS IS" . I was meant to see that note . I went for walks in my area looking for more . I saw so many . God bless that person who did that. A few of those notes were up for weeks , they withstood wind , heavy rainfalls , a bad storm.... They wouldn't come off . I was amazed. I took pictures . God bless you all. I felt compelled to add something to my story. The Bible I was given by the pastor was not a Catholic bible . During the time I was getting all the signs I saw this African man in the elevator holding a Bible and I just started speaking to him. He was telling me the word of God is fire , read it . I would bump into this man all the time when I was feeling depressed or something in my building and he would always say something and it would bring me to tears. He gave me a Catholic bible and said read this one not the one the pastor gave me ,also gifted me a rosary.The guy is so happy , he knows God. He pushed confession on me that's why I went . Told me to go to church . He goes a few times a week. Invited me many times but due to work I couldn't time it out . He called his sister for me , said his sister wants to pray for me . She's in ivory coast so I went downstairs to his apartment and he called his sister and put her on speakerphone. This woman was praying so hard in French I felt the power. I was like "whoa"...she's got power in those prayers . A true believer. I couldn't understand much but her brother translated. I picked up some because in Canada we had to take french in school. It was so powerful I asked him to call her again one day and he did . Prayer has brought me comfort , the rosary is very meditative in a way . The Bible has all life's lessons in it . Anyway just had to add that. God bless.

@@daboxer181For some reason, I have a similar experience. I was raised in a Catholic family. But I never felt anything going to the church. I was battling with depression and isolation around one year ago, and a protestant chaplain (a very good guy) brought me back to Jesus and gave me a bible to read and study.
After a couple of months of reading with him, I went to a confession after more than a decade and cried. Now I know Jesus more than ever.
The thing is, I have no idea what will happen with my life if I did not meet this protestant guy.

I am currently in the RCIA classes and it’s actually a deacon who’s running it. He is fairly conservative and I haven’t experienced any liberalism the entire time I mean I guess I’m one of the lucky ones but regardless, even if I wasn’t in a conservative RCIA class, I still have enough faith in God and Jesus Christ, that they will always direct me and bring the right people in my life. That’s the same faith, everybody needs to have don’t be afraid to go to the Catholic Church because you’re afraid of liberalism pray to God, and ask for discernment, and bringing people into your life that God knows will help you on your journey to Catholicism .

I left the Church (Novus Ordo) years ago for several reasons but am now a happy Traditionalist who follows the Latin Mass, best decision of my life.
That is so special. I live in a remote area where a priest only visits us two Sundays a month (and both Masses are NO). I travel 4 hours on one of the Sundays he doesn't come, to our nearest town - again NO and then the remaining Sunday is just a fellowship gathering amongst the dozen or so of us, living in this area. One day, I will travel to the big City (7 hour drive) and attend a TLM.
Unfortunately, that's not where the RCC is anymore. You have an heretical, South American liberation theology, Pachymama fertility goddess pagan revert. And he has packed the College of Cardinals with modernist unbelievers like himself, so the future doesn't look good in terms of likely successors. And he, along with the Stasi-wannabees in the FBI, are vigorously persecuting the Catholic traditionalists, and that phoney Catholic Joe Biden is promoting abortion with all of the fervor of a Jihadist.😈
All denominations are experiencing a decrease in attendance. I don’t blame V2 I blame secular society the sexual revolution of the 60’s and 70’s. The legalization of contraception, abortion, same sex marriage. Liberal universities and teaching. I know someone who went to a conservative college and more students graduated as Catholic than what started because of a good young adult Catholic group.
Vatican II came about at a time when society was changing.
I came home to Holy Mother the Church 8yrs ago believe me when I say that that Protestants do not have a lot to offer.

I am 57, went to NO seminary from 22yo to 26yo. Did not get ordained, married and have 3 children. Just as our children were starting in school, the Denominational sytem we had collapsed and since 1999 our schools have been fully secularized. Now in our churches all I see are 60+, a handfull of young families with children 8 or under. Outside of those parents with those young children what is missing is the 10yo - 50yo. This is what I have seen happen:
1) The teaching of Darwinism and Evolution; unchallenged by the Catholic Faith have killed any need for Faith; with belief in God right up there with Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny.
2) What little Authenticate Faith was taught in our Catholic Schools before its full collapse was often very poor, wishy washy, by teachers who rarely had a deep faith.
3) The formation of Teachers Unions, and lawsuits over dismissal of teachers for living contrary to the faith, eroded the faith-life within schools where I witnessed: teachers living immoral personal lives continued teaching, the schools went from stopping prayer, disassociating from the parish priest, teaching sex-ed which promoted immoral behavior, etc. etc. to the point schools actually became hostile to shows of authenticate faith.
4) Everything the youth have encountered in this last generation offered endless proofs that God does not exist, and is simply a social construct to promote good social behaviour for adults as Santa Claus does for children. They have not been given the philosophcal and logical proofs for the existence of God and how to counter the anti-God culture now permeated throughout our whole society.
5) Throw in an over-sexed, free internet porn to all ages on their phones, gender confusion, drug-intoxicated, both parents working two jobs falling further into debt society
and no wonder they do not see Church as being relevant for anything in their lives. One more generation from now; and unless God intervenes there will be no faith, Catholic or Protestant.

I would like to invite you to our Baptist Church, Spirit filled and full of people to the rafters. Or if you like, watch the CZcams videos on the Asbury College revivals, the campus and other nearby Evangelical Churches filled to the rafters, classes cancelled, people coming from all over North America and other parts of the world. Christian music breaking out in the crowds waiting outside. But without the enablement of the Holy Spirit, revival is not possible.
@@jacqueslefave4296 Not saying it isn't the Holy Spirit but sounds more like the spirit of enthusiasm. Did some of that stuff way back in my 20's but it lost its appeal for me rather quickly.
Rock concerts are also filled to the brim for the same reason. In the West where luxuries abound, being entertained is the real motivator.
However in areas of the world where Catholicism is growing rapidly the churches are also overfilled and seminarys are thriving. In the West the Traditional Latin Mass is also filling up with families and people looking for God and not an emotional high. I'ld rather be where I know Jesus is truly present (in the eucharist).
Sounds like you have a nice social club going on there. Wonder what would happen if you take away the music and theatrical bible thumping homilies: how many would be left to spend time with the Lord?

Why? When the clergy are obligated to pray liturgy of the hours and not obligated to pray the rosary why should we obligate our children something our clergy are not obliged to do? I spent a good part of my youth in Brazil. Everyone there was Catholic. I don't remember seeing a single protestant church or having a single protestant friend. The culture was Catholic. Early on, we did not even have to lock the house when we went out for a short period. Drugs were almost non existent. We never even heard of people doing drugs, much less see it. Homosexuality must have existed but if it did it was hidden. There were no effeminate men or masculine women. But this was soon after Vatican II. Its poison was already at work. We attended a Jesuit school. The priests there did not wear a habit and did not teach the faith. Instead, we learned about different religions in our religion class. Liberation Theology was the order of the day. Marxism crept in. So, gradually, all the good that catholicism had brought was destroyed.
Now, about 50 % of the popullation is protestant. The city is replete with protestant churches. Crime is sky high. You see people doing drugs in the streets. There is graffiti all over the place. You see same sex people kissing in public. You can go to jail for saying something negative about homosexuality. Novus ordo priests are by and large very effeminate, and the Novus Ordo mass is a joke, with terrible music, zero reverence, zero spirituality. But you go to a Traditional Latin Mass (there is just one in my state if I am not mistaken - and they got kicked out of a beautiful church by the archbishop as soon as Traditiones Custodes - what a joke of a name - came out) and it is beautiful, packed with young, normal looking people.The priest is not effeminate at all and you really get to worship God, our Creator.
Brazil is a great example of how the destruction of Catholic Tradition can destroy Christendom. This is why freemasons and marxists work so hard at it, that is, work hard at destroying Tradition.
It is a shame what has happened in south America. since Vatican 2 the Church has handed it over to the Protestants, communists and Freemasons.

Thats exactly what has happened in my country too, Honduras. Protestants are now the majority in a once devout catholic country. Honduras has the lowest percentage of catholic in Latin America.
Not only that, we catholic now face constant attack to our faith. They call us names all the time. It is demoralizing to be honest. But then I remember that we are not catholic for the world to like us, we are catholics because our Lord established one, holy, apostolic Chuch for us to be part in his kingdom.
Please read until the end…The Protestant missionaries come to the Eastern European (Orthodox) countries as well. I saw an amazing video of an Orthodox layperson completely obliterating (metaphorically speaking) a Protestant missionary with a crowd gathered round in one of the Orthodox countries.
You all have an issue right now…you do…I would say you have a defacto schism now, (I pray it doesn’t become dejure) but no ill will at all…i pray the Roman Church (notice the capital “C”) gets things in order and returns to the traditional Faith. I LOVE my RC brethren, and I myself pray in Latin often and have a deep love for the Roman Liturgy. But this Bishop of Rome, whose statements (that require the Vatican spokesman to do some linguistic gymnastics to fix) and his Cardinals that he has appointed…man. Not to say we don’t have our liberal Bishops as well to be fair. But I love you all. I pray we can be one. And this guys content has made it my most watched religious channel, and I’m not even Roman Catholic….We can’t baptize here? From a priest. If you just did an “altar call” (much discussion there)” I don’t know what is going on.

I know some orthodox folk. Really nice people. They don't go to church. Not serious about their faith. It's just tradition.
There are some that are like that. Most converts (such as myself) are fairly active. I wouldn’t have upset my father and left (conservative) Presbyterianism if I didn’t believe in the real presence. That’s what forced me to leave, but yeah RC and EO have many (sadly) who don’t actively practice. Our Church is about 50/50 converts to cradle and those who are cradle who come to Church very much have their faith as important.
I would love if Rome and the orthodoxy could find a way to come back together. Because we are all Catholics.
I'm so happy I found the Catholic Church and a wonderful TLM parish. I was in my late 30's when I left evangelicalism. I studied Catholic apologetics for a few months before I stepped into a Catholic Church, so I can attest to how bad RCIA is in some Novus Ordo parishes. I went through RCIA at the most boomer parish in my area, they are a bunch of lovely seniors, very nice, but the catachesis was poor. My brother who was with me in RCIA, he had decided to convert also, left and went to RCIA at my current FSSP parish, which he found while we were attending the novus ordo parish. He loves the traditional Catholic faith and Latin mass, and became very devout because of it. He is currently in his first year of semenary at the Fraternity seminary.

I left the RCC once I read the Bible and found innovation after innovation that was not found in the Apostolic deposit of faith. Once my eyes where opened I couldn’t unsee the glaring unbiblical teachings that the RCC teaches and their non-gospel dogmas which bind one’s conscience to.

I stepped away from the Catholic for about a decade. I just read the Bible. Did some devotionals. Then this past Lent I was drawn back to the Catholic church. I received the sacrament of confession and a heartfelt repentance. I began taking the Eucharist on the tongue for the first time in my life. And I have no doubt no doubt whatsoever that the transubstantiation is real and when you take it with a clean soul, you feel it. You feel the Holy Spirit come upon you. It is for that reason. I know the Catholic church is where I'm supposed to be and where anyone who truly believes themselves a Christian should be. And that is my somewhat humble opinion
@@Defender_of_Faith “For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.” (Hebrews 10:14) Christs sacrifice makes those who receive him by faith perfect the scripture says. Why would you trade that for a propitiatory sacrifice that does not perfect you? Just like the Old Covenant sacrifices which the priests continually made, you must return to it over and over again. Even then you are not ensured eternal life. You could be faithful in taking the Eucharist every day and at a moment of weakness commit a mortal sin. Then on the way to the confessional you get hit by a truck and die and go to hell. I agree with you. One great thing besides your wonderful program. Is that we have a man living in Poland, Lloyd de jongh. His programs are very similar like yourself. And he still is a protestant from the Anglican church, but he gives extreme evidence of the reformers. The chaotic structure is that they put forward which divided the church. I recommend it if you love history, philosophy, theology, he’s one amongst a few. Who although as I said, it’s not a Catholic but shows. The evidence, and he really does, and I’m a traditional Catholic have been for over 27 years, leaving the Novus ordo. And if anyone wants to watch this, I do recommend it. I am a cradle Catholic from Central Europe, post-communist country. Never experienced other liturgy than Novus Ordo, and it's not really the issue. The issue is a lack of proper catechesis and solid upbringing in the faith; scandals, clericalism, cultural pressures,... I am not familiar with American situation though. It seems to have its specifics.
I'm a cradle Catholic from the midwestern part of the USA. It's all of the same problems here. Also I didn't realize until recently, and I don't know if this is the same everywhere, but a large portion of students in Catholic schools aren't Catholic. Their parents just want to send them to the "best school in town" because they can afford it and they often have smaller families too. But the schools have to water down the teachings so as to not ostracize these students, and the schools also need their tuition money to stay afloat. Many teachers and even principals aren't Catholic either. There are fewer and fewer nuns who used to do much of the teaching. More and more authentic Catholic families are choosing to homeschool their children.
Yes, but in the US there is a shocking number of catholics who DO give an incredible importance to TLM. Much more than what it would deserve. Shouldn’t the content and the “why” be more important? It’s such a shallow stance.
@@CatholicWisdom I think the TLM can't save the Catholic Church. Those who look to the past traditions as if they were what would save us are mistaken, if not deluded. Moreover many of them are becoming disobedient to the Pope and the Church in the process, which is hardly a traditional Catholic stance.
I never attended a TLM because it's not really a possibility in my country, I am sure it is beautiful and valuable (if performed in its high form) but it is not the solution to the problems of the Church. It is just a form of liturgy, as valid as the ordinary (NO) form. The Eucharist is still the Eucharist in both of them. All depends on the real depth of the faith and love for the Lord we have. The solution was clearly indicated in the famous dream of Don Bosco: to stay on the ship with Peter while he directs it in between the two piliars of the Eucharist and Mary.

How we worship is how we believe, when your Mass is more revenant and designed from the ground up for teaching and worship, you get better catechized Catholics. It’s always a shame that people leave. A lot of people my age do because they either don’t believe anymore, or they just don’t like the Catholic style. I am so sorry you have had a terrible experience. The challenge facing most Catholics is dreadfully poor catechism, particularly after the Sacrament of Confirmation. I was there years ago and it would be easy to take the wide road to Protestantism or to nothing. Yet, in picking up the cross and yoking myself to Jesus and deepening my knowledge, I cannot reject the Fullness of Truth. And this has nothing to do with SSPX or TLM or Trent etc.

Slavery is acknowledged, and when God called Israel out of the land of Egypt (the land of slavery), and Moses received the Law, which included 'keep the Sabbath Day holy", this was God's Law of ending slavery that on one day, all people were required to rest - for "the sabbath was made for man, not man for the sabbath" Mk2:27.
Slaves never got a day or rest, and God gave all a day of rest. And while throughout Israel, there were many manservants and maidservants (slaves) working for food and shelter, the Law required the masters to treat these servants with a day or rest.
It is also important to understand slavery in the context of early history versus applying our understanding of recent history (aka the slave trade). Moreover, we need to consider modern slavery in the sweat shops producing cheap goods which are consumed by "people of good will"; the slavery in the Middle East used to build major cities and infrastructure which we as "people of good will" marvel at; we need to consider modern day slavery to our employers who expect more than the hours contracted "for the good of the company" and how this modernism is breaking families apart.
There is so much in the Scared Scriptures in which God shows us the brokenness following The Fall, and how He brings us to redemption and salvation history - yet man continues to fall.

Even today, the teaching of the Church on Trent has not changed. As a Catholic, I hold Sacred Scripture, Apostolic Tradition and Magisterium as the absolute foundation of my Faith. However, if our Faith is simply a set of rules to be followed, from any prior time-period, it is a faith that shall stagnate and surely die. If being a Catholic is to guard 16th century tradition/teaching to uphold membership of a Church (ie SSPX), rather than being disciples of Jesus Christ, how then do we apply Lk 5:31-32 "And Jesus answered them, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those that are sick. Fashion changes with the times, music changes with the times and countless other things but not the Catholic church. God help us all.
I'd say the catholic church has a choice. return to their roots, remain in their traditional practice for generations to come, or adapt to the ever-changing world.
each one has its pros and cons. the former allows believers to follow their closely held beliefs without hindrance, but at the cost of excluding many would be followers. the latter expands the tent and allows Catholicism to thrive in the world regardless of change, but at the cost of losing its older identity.

As an Irish catholic, the TLM was never really an option to anyone relatively young. The issue is as post Benedict pointed out...the dictatorship of relativism that easily blew down the creaking house that was the Catholic Church, weakened by catechesis and scandals here in Ireland in particular.
Ultimately the problem is a lack of understanding of the presence of the Eucharistic Christ present not only at mass on a Sunday but in the church ALWAYS!!
If Catholics truely believed the creator of the cosmos and their redeemer was in the present in the church the pews would be full.
The American experience unfortunately has gotten sucked into he conservative/liberal political polarization. It’s not a unidimensional problem. Novis ordo mass can combine elements of the old and the new and exist alongside the Latin mass. Not either or.
The problem with Vatican II was a poor interpretation and worse implementation of the recommendations. Remember Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict were advocates for Vatican II. Not a watering down but to bring the Lumen to the Gentum... bringing the light of Christ to the world.
A couple points as an American - it would be impossible not to see how politics play into all of this. When the Bible spells out certain sin, and the liberals are all about that sin p, and all about participating in that sin with, and around, children - then it would be a lie to think they aren’t connected. Second, some priests seem to be too busy, or distracted to connect with their flock. Third - and maybe this is simply my parish, they are not welcoming to newcomers - especially mothers with children. It is very cliquey.
I look at the big picture… I will not give up on the Catholic church so it darn shouldn’t give up on me.

It's largely a parish by parish situation.
I travel and so I visit different parishes.
I was brought into the Church through a rural NO parish.
The pastor is a religious from India who is on break from his order to be a pastor.
He led the RCIA with a couple laypersons assisting, but he was present and made sure to clarify things.
While nowhere near as informative as my own study, it certainly remained well within Church teaching, doctrine, and dogma.
And while it didn't 'bash' protestants, it was clear that protestantism is seen as misguided, at best. We even had a couple speakers come talk to our class, other converts, straight out of a local methodist/baptist church. And they made sure to point out how it was the fullness of the Church that brought them away from the prot.
The mass there is well done. It is, in my opinion, the bare minimum of what should be expected from an NO mass. They livestream it, so feel free to check it out. Saint John's in Leopold Missouri.
Then there's the NO mass at the St. Louis Basilica, which is, in my opinion, how the NO should be celebrated.
Of course, most NO masses fall beneath my 'minimum', mostly as a result of lack of reverence on the part of the laity, but also because it seems like the liturgy is sloppy or rushed in this or that way. Occasionally you'll get the dreaded guitar or hippy dippy turned polo and cargo shorts feeling. But even much of that comes from the laity.
I've yet to witness a mass where I can definitively say the priest or how the liturgy is celebrated is obviously the problem. The worst I've seen is a lackluster homily and bare minimum liturgy.
Both my parish, and the parish I attend regularly where I am at the moment, as well as the Basilica, seem to always have good homilies, strong doctrinal and relevant points, and even tend to call the Church to account. My parish has recent returned altar rails and been talking a lot about reverence and modesty(and this is already a relatively reverent and modest parish). The parish I'm attending has brought out kneelers for those who kneel and the priest and deacon there both have been calling for more reverence and devotion, with last week's homily devoted to talks of mortification such as fasting(which inspired me to try to commit to bread fasts on Wed/Fri).
I simply don't think V2 is the monster it's made to be. I encourage you to watch Fr. Alar's talks on it. I think there has been abuses that tried to veil themselves as 'spirit of V2' but that's not the same as V2 itself doing these things.
And I'm not convinced the NO is a bad rite. It has some definite ties to older rites, both in the liturgical prayers and even in the way it's celebrated. As much as I find the sign of peace awkward and am happy when it is skipped, it's not a new idea.
My issue with the NO is that it was made the 'Latin rite' despite it not being the 'Latin rite'. The 'Latin rite' is the TLM. The NO is a rite unto itself, and one I believe is valid and, when celebrated with sincere reverence, can be beautiful in its own right. I also take issue with it being pushed as the default rite of the Church. Granted, I suppose, because it is done in the vernacular and allows for a bit of flexibility in custom, it makes it more universal, and I suppose, in that spirit, it could make sense to use, particularly where the Latin rite has trouble taking root.
But I think it should be left to the bishops and parishes to decide what rite(s) to celebrate. There is no reason that a parish or community or diocese should be forced into only celebrating the NO if a significant portion desires to return or remain with the long standing Latin rite.
I do think there are those in the Church, hopefully aging out, that desire to force the Church to resemble some idealistic contemporary acid induced fever dream of what the Church 'could be' from the 70's. But I don't know that
1. It is quite as coordinated as some might think
2. It is going to last much longer.
I'm not saying there isn't an effort to break the Church, to twist Her into a caricature and expose Her to the world. That's always been the case, within and without.
I am saying this, if you want to preserve and defend the Church, start with the laity.
Get them to act like Catholics.
Educate them, not just on what is wrong, not just with the doom and gloom.
1. Be the Catholic you want to see in the pew next to you. Be the devout and reverent Catholic you wish all the casual pew sitters would be. And do it where the least reverent and devout Catholics are.
I kneel before our Lord, when I turn my back to the tabernacle, when I get into a pew, and when I receive. I spend my time before mass praying. I don't sit after receiving until the cup on the altar is veiled(meaning Christ is no longer exposed on the altar, down to a crumb or drop).
And I've noticed, in both parishes(mine and the one I attend), things have been changing. There's been movement to reverence and devotion. I'm not saying it's because of me, but I am saying that there are those that want more and when they see someone who is taking it all more seriously, they may take it more seriously as well.
Now that there are kneelers, there are people I know weren't kneeling before, kneeling and receiving on the tongue now, including young boys whose families obviously didn't teach them to do this. Because the opportunity is there, they see others doing it, and they want to do 'more' to externalize their conviction to be reverent and show honor to our Lord and take this all more seriously.
2. Have conversations. I've talked to many cradle Catholics who don't know Church teaching and most are receptive and understand they don't have a grasp on it like converts often do(because of their own self study). Did you try talking to the RCIA instructor or just sit there correcting her in your head? Did you go to the pastor? To the bishop even if the pastor was unhelpful in correcting the issue?
Or did you assume no one would do anything?
I like you, and I like your channel, but it sounds an awful lot like the Protestant mindset. "This is a bad church, so I'm just going to go to one that I like." You aren't changing 'churches' or 'denominations' but you are doing the equivalent with parishes. You're abandoning parishes that have faults then wondering why they persist and grow in those faults, and even spread their faults. It's what's happening to protestants. The church gets too worldly, the conservative crowd just leaves. Then that church, that region, that denomination, just spirals into Sparkle Creeds.
Do you think maybe the way a lot of these parishes got to where they are is because, when the priest or parish council made a bad decision that struck more traditional types wrong, the trads just left, leaving the progs and those ignorant of any of this to spiral further into abuses and cringe and even heresy?
Go to the worst parish you can find, and be the Catholic you want to see next to you in those pews. Get involved, volunteer, become an RCIA teacher. Instead of letting these prog parishes fester and worsen and spread their disease, why not go there and help to heal them? You can still go to your preferred mass to recharge and have a proper experience of mass with our Lord.
Pope Francis is so worried about evangelizing the world, and I do think that is a good thing. But it's up to us to evangelize to our own. We need to solve these issues. Not by abandoning these parishes, but by being more involved in them and finding ways to make them better.

But, and I'm just playing Devil's advocate here, the Bible has been used to justify what it clearly was never meant to justify.
I'm simply more inclined to blame those who hid behind garbage lines like 'spirit of v2' to justify their blasphemies. I simply lean more in favor of Fr. Alar's interpretation of what was going on with v2 and post v2 issues.
I know we both want to see the Church reverse course in so many ways. But, imho, if we want to see more Basilicas and less acoustic guitars, we need to be in the boomer parishes being proper Catholics to set a better example for those who are still forming themselves in the faith, if that makes sense.
I'm not saying we should all go off and find the worst parish we can to join. But if the one we're in has some issues, we shouldn't just find the nearest SSPX or TLM parish and abandon our home to the prog and lax Catholics to destroy.
Those of us with children don't have the option. My job is to provide the best faith formation for my family, not try and save boomers from their own decisions.

When the give the society grief pushback hard , they fought for our rights and stayed open during the pandemic , they were the example that so many failed to follow.
Two reasons
1. Don’t believe that God, as described in the Bible, exists.
2. Disagree with the teachings.
It’s not complicated, it’s either one of these or a combination of both. I’m 21 btw so I’m in touch with how most young people feel.
If you want young people to come back to the faith, prove to them that God exists and also justify the teachings to them, explain why some teachings are the way they are. Oftentimes the teachings feel like “Do this or don’t do this because we say so”.
I am 22. 98-99% of young people have a wanton disregard for authority, for both justified and unjustified reasons. Since most parents are also terrible examples and raise their children into sin, or are outright abusive it isn’t surprising at all. And of course these children disagree with the teachings, because they grew up in spite or without them entirely. And even naturalistic science proves the existence of God, and in the modern era where information is easily accessible there is not an excuse anymore for the masses.
The modern novus ordo Catholic Church is also not helping by giving terrible examples of the laity, clergy, and overall general approach to the sacraments, especially the Eucharist.

Lacking nothig essential. We dont have to add to anything he has done. If we do we sin. We need no other door, no other gate, No other intercessor that is dead. This is idolatry of the highest order.
It's simple, go to Traditional Latin Mass that's being performed by a priest who's been ordained in the Traditional Rite of Ordination

The young people who have fallen in love with the TLM understand that this is the right worship of God and there is no room to mess it up……it is offered the same way each and every time it’s done. No room for interpretation or adding or subtracting from it …. It is perfect worship …
We are definitely in a time with much more distraction. Sexual temptation and deviance all around us on the radio and TVs even in our schools. Dominating message of live your truth. Relativism being taught and glorified everywhere you look. But imagine how holy those can become that. Stay true to Christ in this age.
I'm a former catholic. I think the tlm is very nice don't get me wrong. And if it helps you be a better Christian than best to you. At the end of the day tho, rejecting Vatican 2 alone is just rejecting the most noticeable problem. It's not really getting at the root and weeding it out. So I'm preparing to become a catechuman in the Orthodox church now and couldn't be happier. It's truly a transformative experience. I wish you all the best in your spiritual journey as well. It was CORRECT for thousands of years, BUT NOW IT WAS ALL WRONG?? OH, PLEASE!! I SO want to return to my Catholic Heritage that I knew as a child, and up through manhood. Holy Mother Church has LOST the solemn reverence that was ONCE an inherent part of worship that I participated in as a devote Catholic. I do NOT feel part of the Mass any longer! It is FOREIGN TO ME!! Adoration of the Holy Eucharist said in Latin, is the only time I feel a part of 'what once was! I know the 'Tantum Ego' by heart, having learned it as a very young child, and I feel a TREMENDOUS COMFORT in singing it during Adoration!!! In simple terms, the church has LEFT ME, and not the other way around! Now I feel as though I am just STUMBLING through the motions while attending Mass, and not really participating in it any longer! At my Parish, the Altar boys do NOT even ring the bells during the Consecration. Asking the Pastor as to WHY,.. and I got some kind of 'double-speak' that left me COLD as an explanation. I had left the Catholic faith due to all the perversion with alter boys that angered me as to how it was hidden for so long and I recently returned to find the service very alien to me, and I am wondering WHY I have returned, TRYING to be a devote Catholic once again.
You can be silently reverent in your bathroom. You can purchase the type of music you desire to create the atmosphere you desire. You are the church if you confess Christ as Lord and King. Christ will not come for an organization . He is coming for a people who have an intimate relationship with him and obey his words. Are you doing that? Then dont worry, Christ will find you when he comes or you will find him when you die
Um... according to Pew Forum, when former Catholics are questioned, "wanting the Latin Mass" was pretty low on the list of reasons they were no longer Catholic. "No longer believing in the doctrine" and "disgust at various abuse scandals" were much more common. This makes sense, because if you want a "more Catholic" experience, joining an evangelical church in pursuit of that is an illogical thing. Not hatin', just sayin'.
Ok, maybe im not making my point clear enough. Had they not changed the church at v2 none of that would have happened. The people leaving the church dont know the real reason why they dont like, but the reason is its not Catholic.
Thats why I have challenge: go to Latin mass every Sunday and holy day of obligation for 2 straight months.

I agree that V2 was a disaster, because it managed to annoy both liberals and conservatives equally. Liberals may have liked the change to the vernacular mass, but they didn't really care about it. They cared about contraception and making priestly celibacy optional, both of which Paul VI refused to budge on. Whereas the conservatives cared deeply about the traditional mass, and were outraged by the change.
As far as the Latin Mass goes, I read somewhere that John XXIII's original intention was to allow local congregations the option of mass in the vernacular, not to ban the Latin Mass. But the Papal Curia would rather enforce a change they hated autocratically than leave the choice to local pastors and the laity. I don't whether that's true, but it's tempting to wonder what may have happened if John XXIII had lived ten years longer.
The greatest generation changing the mass I believe led the boomers to feel a loss of reverence for the mass then making them question. Why did they learn all the stuff they learned to now think none of it mattered. Then that reflected upon the way they brought their children up in the faith like myself. Gen x and it had an effect in the way that I brought my children up including to myself leaving the church for a decade
I feel the pain of people who have had these difficulties. I am blessed with a wonderful young NO Priest, and the other new Priests being ordained in the diocese are just like him. I have so much hope for the future!

Vatican 2 isn't to blame on all of this. It's the leadership and lay people also.
V2 did not help, all of it no , but that they are still trying to sell/ force this debacle on the faithful tells much. The leadership ship has more then failed us but no one is talking credit or explaining who or why , look at a mass from 1965 then one from 1975 , the loss of reverence is obvious. That you are sometimes told to find a reverent NO to attend , begs why are they not all reverent ?.

Let's look at this from the perspective that Vatican I I is a success.
What if this was the holy spirit's way of separating the wheat from the chaff? Causing those whose faith was moderate at best to leave and the truly faithful to endure. Which has now LED to those of us who never experienced a Latin Mass, but whose parents Faith or at least practice of Catholicism dwindled which caused us to dwindle. But now we have come back with a fever for Christ's Church. With a true love in our heart to want to see it grow and be understood. The fact that right now so many parishioners are talking about Vatican too to me shows an increase in faith in the church regardless of numbers.
Maybe with the next Pope we will get a Vatican. 3. We get the leaders we deserve.

I think that we mere mortals need to be able to feel that we can get close to the divine and this silly, elementary school approach to divinity takes away the feeling that we are in a temple.I felt robbed after Vatican II changes and gradually but eventually started feeling that it was a chore to go to mass, and eventually just stopped going. And I am sorry for this, it's my fault, but I just can't help it. I am now 88 and pray every day and hope that God understands. And yet, my granddaughter has chosen to major in theology at a catholic university. Maybe it all works for the young ones.

I only went to a Roman church once as a kid and I do t remember it being very reverential. So I’m not sure if that was NO or TLM.
The "sacraments" are undone, The Lord is a merciful God, and he has wiped all sins that the church of idolatry imposed on me.
One of the greatest pains I experience is when people joyfully say they’ve left the Church to follow Christ when Christ is already present in the Catholic Church.

I think a lot of people leave the Catholic church church for lack of humility. It is much easier to accept a fact of sitting in a room in private and confessing your soul to God. It is completely different to sit down and confess your soul to a priest. It is humbling and I believe it's meant to be humbling and if you are repentant truly then what is wrong with humbling yourself to the priest?
Well, your correct on some of these issues but the biggest issue is the Roman Catholic Church is revolved more around rules out side of scripture. The Catholic Church is correct on certain things, but many of there teachings is easily debunked just by reading the Bible. A lot of people go to Protestant churches as well to learn what the Bible actually says, not just here a few verses, and then go to confession. The Roman Catholic Church also has huge issues with pedophilia which is something most Catholics don’t like to talk about. And then there’s the last thing. Pope Francis literally just forced the church to have to bless and accept gay marriages. He’s also a woke anti American pope. So when you have leadership that is as corrupt as he is, and they are leaning away from teachings of Christ and the apostles, how can you not leave. You don’t need a denominational title to be saved either. The Bible also makes it clear you need to go to a play surrounded by other followers. We’re as the Catholic Church teaches you need to come to mass because we say you need to. Just like they also ask for more than 10% tithing. You don’t need to pay to pray, you don’t need to go through a bunch of rules or loopholes to get baptized, saved, or to even take communion. Mary is not someone you pray to. Christ says multiple times the only way to the father is through me. Not Mary, not the saints, not anything else. All sin is deemed equal, there is no greater sin, including murder. You can’t pray for those to go to heaven, and just because you give money doesn’t mean they will go to heaven. It’s weird the only church that has the Apocrypha is the Catholic Church. The Jews who literally only follow the Old Testament don’t even have them 7 extra books in there doctrine.
Some sets of Judaism did use those Old Testament books. And the first Christians to include the 12 apostles used those Scriptures. Protestants got rid of them to justify their positions. You can't take books out of the Bible and then tell catholic's that their teachings are non-biblical because you got rid of the books in the Bible that showed them. Orthodoxy uses even more books than the Roman Catholic Church, so to say that only Catholics use them shows your lack of knowledge. I guess Alcoholics Anonymous is considering updating the 12 step book to change pronoun stuff. It makes me think of this Vatican 2 stuff. Not in my town here in the Uk they're not and here there are four Catholic churches, each with two Masses on the Sabbath and week day Masses.
Barna study as of 6 years ago showed that people in late 20's/early 30's stated that they left the church (all denominations of Christianity) - for 2 reasons : a) their parents or single parent, didn't behave, or talk any different than the average unchurched person, and even had some of the same vices as the unchurched b) Youth groups failed to regularly teach apologetics so the young can defend the teachings of Jesus when a college professor tries to debunk Christ.
Grew up w/ NO, and never knew the Latin Mass. Still Catholic, and honestly, the NO "mass" is such a mockery. Went to a weekday one last week for first time in years (chronic condition, thankfully 3-4 months away from fully healed), and by Dearest Jesus, very upsetting just like sexual deviant movement:
1) *Nobody* kneels to receive Eucharist. It's like we line up to receive a cupcake. Jesus is no longer respected or revered.
2) Mindless music. Instead of Gregorian chant and Latin to bring in Mass, it's translated w/ guitar or piano. Pipe organ, and as work of art, draw the people to Heaven, not entertain them!
3) Students who sang made hang gestures for "participating" in the Mass. That's for **concerts** and entertainment. Mass is a time to spend with **Jesus Christ**, grow closer to Him. This secular approach distracts from Him.
4) Eucharistic ministers everywhere. Only the consecrated hands of a deacon, priest, and up should bear the Precious Blood and Body of Christ. He is not a dessert for anyone to touch!
5) Churches, by and large, stripped of their Heavenly art. Such folly! A beautiful church reminds the people we are here to be with Jesus, taste of Heaven. A bare-bones church might as well be used for a debate hall--that's how much holy it's lost!
6) The priest is there facing the people. Aka, a distraction. I do not believe he realizes it, may God touch their hearts--the people are here to be with Jesus, and the priest as His earthly representative is there to lead the worship, not distract them!

Society of St. Pius X, an order of priests who only celebrate the Traditional Latin Mass, the only Mass before Vatican II. The Novus Ordo is the New Mass, put together during Vatican II. The NO is a Prostentatized version of the Mass.

I respectfully disagree with some of your conclusions here. It's not just Catholics that are losing members, it's most denominations across the board. Eastern Orthodox churches for example have absolutely atrocious retention rates and if you ever visit one you'll rarely see anybody in there under the age of 40. The reason Evangelical churches are growing is because they are easier and require the least amount of effort, even compared to other Protestant churches. To me it seems clear that the issue is cultural in nature and would not have been prevented even if the Novus Ordo mass had never been adopted. And I see little to no evidence that Catholics are clamoring for the Latin Mass, outside of internet forums such as this. If it were so then the few churches that do offer Latin Mass would be overflowing but that simply isn't the case. That being said one thing I've observed and felt is that the Catholic church plainly does not feel like a community; I've been going to the same church for 20 years and I barely know anybody there. I go to plenty of events to meet and greet others but every time I get polite courtesy from the other end but no offer of friendship. In fact since COVID the majority of parishioners won't even shake hands during the sharing of the peace in Mass. Some just wave with a forced smile and some don't even do that. That's definitely something Protestants, especially Baptists and Evangelicals, are far better at than us, to our continuous detriment. Sometimes I even see people get into arguments or cut each other off in the church parking lot before and after Mass. Yikes.

In most cases the Diocesan latin mass is in the late afternoon on the wrong side of town, or a small town 30 minites away and most rank and file Catholics dont know about it.
But guess what, go to the sspx and it is overflowing. With young couples.
Your observation about the lack of community as compared to Evangelical churches is spot on. This is what I mean about trying to be Protestant, we cant do it. Protestants are all about fellowship, keep in mind they really want you in thier church thats part of the reason they are so nice. At least the catholics arent pretentious.
Also Catholic worship isnt about fellowship, its about worshiping God as he prescribed. Protestant worship is wrong. Regardless of how they make you feel.
Do you go to church to worship God? If so stay Catholic regardless of how bad catholics act.
If its all about you and what you want then sure go be Protestant. Keep in mind you may lose your salvation.

How blessed we are for the mercy of our lord God is immeasurable, church doctrines and traditions should not conform to todays culture and we know it’s corrupt at best rather than follow how Jesus taught the apostolic church and its successions but still true to its identity. IMO, people’s own faith and belief is personal and sacred it doesn’t fit all and our conveniences just like everyone will not be saved but the church does its best with what was passed down to them. I for one are grateful to be able to follow the apostolic church and know that I follow the ways Jesus taught and lived. Blessings to all and peace be with all.

Let's see I went from essentially a atheistic Jewish background to Evangelical Protestantism to Lutheranism to Catholicism and I felt that the Latin mass was the original true Christian religion . I think people also find not having to confess to a priest but just in private to God more appealing. For the same reason of people not being able or wanting to humble themselves to confess to a priest. They also cannot humble themselves to accept papal authority.
Last time I went to the Catholic Church I didn't like what I saw, people not dressed right, people lifting their hands like in the protestant church, pretty ugly stuff. I'm now looking for a traditional Latin mass.

To be very honest, I don’t know what to do either.
I was baptized at 6 months (1979) in a Catholic Church, and I did receive my first communion in the 1980’s, but beyond that my family were not “Catholic”. We never prayed together, never went to church, never read the Bible. I was agnostic until the middle of 2020 (aged 41). Was grieving though the death of an old high school friend (suicide) and very suddenly Mary was with me. For about 6 weeks she was with me, until I found myself at the feet of Jesus crucified. I had my children baptized, went through RCIA, received my confirmation, and started reading the Bible with my children and teaching them about Jesus. My husband was, and still is, agnostic. But...
Mt parish is not very welcoming. Especially other mothers with young children. I am not invited into the fold, so to speak. And there have been many functions where other mothers will not even look at me, or speak to me, when they are standing right next to me. Then...
Then came the news, about 9 months ago now, that I can no longer receive the Eucharist. Suddenly it was recalled that I was not married in thenCatholic Church, so I may not receive the Eucharist. Because my husband is agnostic, and doesn’t believe we need to be married in the church, my priest tells me “it’s much more complicated”. Fine, but he does not facilitate a resolution to the situation. When I had called or emailed he would say he’s been “busy” (no doubt), or that he “forgot”. Or my emails go without respond.
We also had an issue with our local library wanting to host DQ story hour on tax-payer dollars. I told the priest, I got the word out... and only one Catholic besides me showed-up (and she is not devout), every one else were non-Catholic Christians. So...
What does that tell me? I’m not sure. And I’m not sure where to go from here. I’ve prayed to Gods to show me where he wants me, but I haven’t received his instructions yet. But something is not right. All I want is to walk with Jesus.
Fairly similar. Baptized in '77 went to Catholic grammar school through 8th grade. My children have all been baptized and made first communion but I stepped away after that for about a decade. My wife and I she went to Catholic school even through high School relocated after I got out of the military. Went to a new church where we moved and be in a smaller town that we did not grow up in. It was somewhat clicky and hard to become involved. Now that I am back as a practicing Catholic I have decided I will be the change I wanted to see when I first joined my local church. Much easier to do now that I'm older and don't care what people think. As long as I know I am moving in the way God moves me.
We Catholics have an adage about one's scope of Bible reading, study, and comprehension that aptly describes the ex-Catholic/s spotlighted here. "Weak Catholics become Evangelicals/Protestants/Orthodox. Strong Evangelicals/Protestants/Orthodox become Catholics."
People are leaving the catholic church because they did not take it seriously that jesus himself build only one church not thousand of churches. Jesus is with us in the holy sacrament because he is an emmanuel (god with us).
I would NEVER go an SSPX Mass or Church. I want the Church that Jesus established himself and not an offshoot of Catholicism. Oh BTW, i am an Eastern Rite Catholic! Thats the Church i go to!

I think we, as the parishioners of the church parishioners must do a better job of reinforcing the belief that the Eucharist is the body and blood of Christ. Outside of a child, I don't know how any adult or teenager could think that they are holy enough to touch the body of Christ with their hands. The nuns that taught us were very clear that you're not supposed to chew the host. Let it soften until you can swallow it. Now I see deacons munching the host like a potato chip on the altar before giving out the sacrament. And if our clergy are taking the host in their hand on the altar, how could they expect their parishioners to uphold a wholly respect for what is happening?
Cuz if not for the transubstantiation of the Eucharist what really is the difference between Catholicism and the 30,000 denominations of Protestants?

I was born a catholic, grew up as a catholic but the dualistic attitude of other catholics looking down at their poor co-religionists perflexed me. The jealousy, animosity and disdaining attitude of fellow christians haunts me even today. I never chose my family at my birth. God decided where I should be born. I write this because my family who are Roman Catholics disown me because I married outside my religion. They have stopped inviting me for weddings or any other functions. If they were real christians they would not be doing so.

I'm sorry to hear of some of the bad experiences some of you have had in RCC. I can actually say at our Parrish here in south Florida. We have over 3k congregants every week. We have more than seven services each Sunday. Our RCIA classes were full of ex protestants. We have a conservative novus order mass. It seems to be working. Just my views.

If they are regional and racial, i have to say it's obviously helped them. They still have the liturgy that they were practicing in the 4th and 5th century's. I can't see them getting away with changing it or introducing a new modernist liturgy like we did with the new mass. And they have kept close to their traditions.We are losing ours. We went to the new world and western Europe. And then made our way during the period of exploration to other nations in which the east had already been. After 30 years at our NO parish with no confession, altar girls and incorrect homilies ( fr. Starbuck saying the Mother of God is not one of Mary’s titles ) we switched to the only TLM that we could get to which is the CMRI. We will never leave it, now we can practice our faith the way it should be.

If someone leaves NO for a Protestant church because they werent getting anything and found Jesus at this other church most Catholics say:
" oh well, its thier journey. Who am I to say God didnt lead them there"

Please dont leave the Church. Go to the traditional Latin Mass instead. You will see no modern foolishness, no drums or guitars, no embracing same sex unions there! It is a beautiful, reverent Mass. It's also the only Mass where attendance is growing, especially among young people and young families. It brings one back to what Catholicism is really about.
That’s a fact. I’m of partial German descent and I’m interested in my Catholic and German heritage. Back in June, I went to mass at Old St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Cincinnati, Ohio because it’s a historic German church. They have a mass at 11 on Sundays that’s conducted almost entirely in German, except the homily. It is operated by the Cincinnati Oratory, and the Mass before the German one is a sung Latin mass. They do a low Latin mass, a sung Latin mass, a German mass and an English mass. I arrived for the German mass right after the sung Latin mass and there were more people there than at the German mass and it looked like the church was almost completely full. I love that church, not only because it’s a historical German church, but the mass is very traditional. I’m not sure if it’s a pre Vatican ll Mass, but the priest performed traditional worship, including facing the altar and the parishioners going to the kneelers up front and receiving the Eucharist from the mouth. Also the Priest during the homily warned against Protestant infiltration into the Church. Regardless, I like that set up better than the modern version. I took some pictures of the Church and made them into a video for my channel if you’re interested in seeing it.
@andrewstravels2096 If the priest faced the altar then it's the pre Vatican II Latin Mass. So glad you have found a traditional Church that you're happy with. I will check out your pics

SSPX had so many priests abuse children that I lost all faith in them. Ordaining four bishops when they were told to ordain one is another reason they are not catholic
yes the sexual darkness that hovers cannot be ignored can it. And those are only the ones caught. what else is being hidden. Who knows about the hidden stories? How do you give communion to others with hands that feel up boys in the evening and rape boys in the early morning? These are heart wrenching stories. Are all guilty NO! Many a devout priest exist. However, the depth of this darkness is DARK. DARK DARK. Does not seem like the christ to me.
Don't forget Limbo aswell. 99% of modern Catholics never even heard of it.
The Bishop of the specific diocese controls which Masses are offered. If the Bishop wants a TLM, it will happen. If the Bishop wants only Nicys Ordo Masses, that is what with happen. If a Priest offers a TLM without permission he will likely have his faculties taken away.
