ABC had two of the industry's best announcers with Joel Crager and Ernie Anderson.

    Closed Circuit!
So while we were watching ABC, ABC were watching us!
    Great TV, all the same.

I remember this. I was working at an ABC affiliate (WMGC-TV in Binghamton NY). I remember dubbing them. Half of the shows never made the cut. I think the first one to get the axe was "Hardcastle And McCormick" which they really pushed hard as if it was the next "Starsky and Hutch." It wasn't.

That lasted three seasons on ABC. The final season was scheduled on Monday nights (before "NFL MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL"), before the network canceled it in 1986.

"LIME STREET" {as "J.G. CULVER" was eventually titled} never quite recovered after Samantha Smith (24:40) was killed in a plane crash in August 1985. Eight episodes were produced; five were scheduled on ABC [the unaired episodes were later shown on "Lifetime", two years later].

"DYNASTY II: THE COLBYS" lasted two seasons. ABC gave Aaron Spelling two seasons to make it a success. He couldn't.

Despite having good promos, abc was dead last in Prime Time as CBS dropped to 2nd place and NBC became #1
The only good thing abc had were Who's the Boss?, Growing Pains and Moonlighting
Dynasty was in the Top 10 for the last time with Hotel in the Top 25

ABC was on top of the heap in the late Seventies, but in the Eighties it fell hard and fast.
