I was somewhere in the Derby fans near the half way line so not ideal for venting any frustrations! Felt we were still the better team with 9 men so the ref had to send off 1 more to even it up!

was in derby end- was easter bank holiday- was 1-0 down before I got in. Tremendous Toon following. Kelly threw his shirt into fans after game- I thought it was the job knackered after this result. NUFC

Does the full match exist? Would love to get a copy. Known as the best away support we've taken in moden (ish) times.

I remember this game. The Geordie fans were tearing out the plastic seats in the away end and throwing them on the pitch!

Remember going to this game, an Easter Monday to remember. Stood on the pop side. The BBG always had a fantastic atmosphere when there was a good away support and the Geordies have always been well known for their fantastic away support. Never seen so many red cards in a game. Being an ex Mackem Gabbiadini must have loved it although I don't think Keegan did in his after match interview. Always rated Gavin Peacock, perhaps the best attacking midfield player in the division in those days. Just after the start of the period when we were splashing the cash, ironic that Tommy Johnson was a geordie and Kitson went on to play for them several years later.

No, it was McDermott that was sent to the stands. The ref was Brian Coddington. A Derby legend !!
