    We’ve got your celeb reactions to Kendall Jenner’s controversial Pepsi commercial!
    Today’s episode is brought to you by the Un-carrier®. With T-Mobile ONE™, get all unlimited, all in!
    Turns out celebs are PROTESTING Kendall’s PROTEST-themed ad!
    Celebs had a thing or two to say about supermodel Kendall Jenner’s new Pepsi ad, which has now been pulled off the Internet. In the soda commercial Kendall ditches a photo shoot to join a march happening on the street. The model saves the day when she hands a police officer a can of Pepsi.
    Kendall and the Pepsi brand are now being accused of appropriating the Black Lives Matter movement for commercial purposes. DJ Samantha Ronson had a simple response to the ad writing on Twitter, “nah bro.” TV host Piers Morgan took the sentiment a step further writing, “The new @pepsi ad with @KendallJenner is stupefyingly diabolical. Absurd, PC-crazed, virtue-signalling, snowflake claptrap.”
    Dancing with the Stars champion Nyle DiMarco had another reason for outrage sharing QUOTE, “While this campaign is wrong, calling this ad "tone-deaf" is also degrading for us Deaf people.” We gotta say, that’s a fair point!
    Others decided to joke about the Pepsi ad and brought Dr. Pepper into the conversation. Stephen Colbert tweeted, “This Pepsi ad is so unrealistic. Those protesters would have been Dr. Pepper Sprayed.” Funnyman Billy Eichner took to a new level tweeting, “Call me when Dr. Pepper starts giving abortions”. Judd Apatow also thought the ad was hilarious, “I could spend the rest of my life trying and not even come close to making something as funny as this Pepsi ad.”
    But it was Lena Dunham brought up what really matters here- by tweeting, “Assuming everything that can be said about faux-test Pepsi ad has been said so I'm just gonna go with this: it didn't make me want Pepsi”.
    And our favorite reaction of all came from Questlove who tweeted, “that Pepsi commercial was genius troll move of the year, 4 days from April Fools? we talkin/meming bout em too? #WellPlayed”.
    How did YOU react to Kendall’s Pepsi ad- tell us what side you’re on down below in the comments. As always I’m your host Ryland Adams, thanks for tuning in.

    I don't get where the controversy is coming from, isn't this ad promoting PEACE? We see people, rich, poor, arab, hispanic, white, black, men, women, trans, etc. all protesting together, and no-one ends up getting hurt. No riot, no police violence. Just a peaceful protest on a fictional issue that is not being addressed but supposedly important to people from all walks of life

      People have died while protesting. During WW2 if you protested for religious freedom or equality then you were executed. People of color, mainly African Americans, are being arrested for standing up for their culture in USA. In North Korea, if you say anything about the monarchy, you get hanged. In some Arabian/ Mediterranean countries, there are people who get shot for trying to protect their family from terrorists. In Venezuela the government is raping people for fun and protesters are trying their best to help. This add makes it look like protesting is fun and people are literally dancing in the add. It made the situation seem way to light.

      what about innocent syrians who have to wake up every morning and fear if a missile or a bomb is going to strike at their homes osuicide bombings at random place like a church or a school? it's not that i disagree with you it's just that us as a society always pay attention to stupid commercials that celebrities like kendall jenner always use settings or an event like police brutality for an example and twist it as a joke. to me popular culture is a joke it's a distraction that people use to get a reaction and get angry and critcizing something that people want.

    • @vanessaromero9152
      @vanessaromero9152 Před 7 lety +18

      Syenna Williams , I'm going to stop you there. They were not trying to portray it "as a joke." Kendall maybe wasn't the right choice in this sense, but the point was to portray unity. Don't follow the media over a pointless argument. Because there was a message in this. The Black Lives Matter "regime" is the one thing that people want to throw as an excuse. And to those talking about a disrespect towards black people, you're wrong. They're not the only ones targeted. And the Ad was a way to show that, that we can be as one. Get your shit right lame.

Things don't just work like that automatically. And for some rich celebrity to come put themselves in a commercial that was offensive just for money didn't help. They don't understand the complications between the police and black people, or the womens march, etc *Basically Pepsi was making a commercial about social issues of which they do not understand. Pepsi is capitalising the BLM protesting and taking advantage of it to sell their drink. Protests aren't all "WOW THIS IS SO MUCH FUN, LET ME JUST WALK THROUGH THE CROWD AND GIVE THE COP A PEPSI, NOW EVERYTHING IS HAPPY" they're often violent, especially for one to do with racism. This isn't the kind of thing that Pepsi should be making ads about, giving Protests are happy tone.

  • @lizmooncraft
    @lizmooncraft Před 7 lety +73

    The common misconception that I keep on seeing in these comments is people referring to the content in the ad as a protest. What is displayed in the ad is not a protest, it was a march for peace. Two VERY different things! They were not protesting against anything at all, it was a huge group of people of all races, nationalities, gender, and sexual orientation. They were holding up peace signs saying join the conversation, that is hardly a protest. The pepsi can was symbolic of an olive branch or flower, they weren't saying here have a pepsi it will make things better, they were conveying the message of extending peace. I am seeing so many people make this into something bigger then what it actually is. Now if you want to see something truly offensive, racist, near sided, etc. then read some of these comments, they are the real problem. Not a company making a bold step saying that we need peace.

    As a member of the black community, I honestly dont have a problem with the ad. Yes, i see why some people find it offensive, but I dont think its that big of a deal, there are other things at the moment that should be at the front page right now, like the gassing in Syria that happened earlier today. Get over it, its an ad, its not like Donald trump was in it and Drowned people in pepsi and saying its illegal to be near the product. Grow up, and realize more issues than an ad campaign should be in a news article online.

    This commercial did just what it was expected to do, create dialog and make you think about Pepsi. We have lost sight of the big picture here. Those people get paid to cause controversy. Drawing your attention to this instead of what's really important. Lets not allow the smoke screen to cloud our judgement. Mass media has been controlling your thoughts for quite some time. It use to done through subliminal messages, now they just come strait out with it because you have been programmed to expect the worse. Be the orchestrator of your own thoughts and stop allowing media to tell you what to think next. I bet some of you would have never seen this commercial if it wasn't aired to draw your attention.

    • @bettibaudelaire3402
      @bettibaudelaire3402 Před 7 lety +36

      People dislike the ad because Pepsi has taken the hallmarks of organic social movement and resistance (which has nothing to do with profiteering) and used them for financial gain. You cannot compare hippies putting flowers into the gun barrels of policemen with Kendall Jenner handing a cop a soda. They are total opposites - the hippies confronted police because they were rejecting global violence, government policy and, crucially, capitalist agendas. Kendall's on-screen action is entirely centred on making a profit - something that the hippy movement stood against. It also trivialises the problems and hopelessness that drives people to protest in the first place by saying that everything can be fixed with a smile and a Pepsi. For many people, protesting is the only way they can make their voice heard and hope to effect any kind of positive change. Pepsi have taken that ugly reality and turned it into a stylish fashion show that does not reflect the unhappy reality of many people's lives. Essentially, this is not what a protest looks like. Protesting is not something that needs to or should be glamorized. A protest is not Coachella. At the end of the day, Pepsi did not dream up this article with the intent of empowering protesters across the world. They saw it as a way to drum up publicity and cash. These are just a few of the issues that people have with it. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter all that much, it's just a stupid, misjudged ad. Hope that helps :)

      That makes it seem like the police are there to start something like they want some fight and to kill people, cops get such a bad rep recently but there's a lot of good cops out there.

    Why are people blaming Kendall when she wasn't the one who wrote or directed this commercial? She is just doing her job as a model, but of course because of her family she get blasted for something that was not her fault...

    why do people hating on her? I mean she's just paid to act, not to plan theme of the commercial, why not blame on the producers itself?
