    The most offensive thing about this video is the fact that these advertisers believed that a soda brand was worthy of a near three minute commercial.

      Munttti Gbd Basically she accepted to be the face of social injustice, despite the fact that she's rich, white, and never experienced social injustice. That's why this is offensive especially for the persons who experience it daily (namely POCs, knowing that the ad was released at a time where the BLM movement was very active) and who don't want to be "represented" by someone who don't know anything about their struggle.
      The concept of the ad in itslef is not bad, it's just the fact that a Jenner/Kardashian plays the main role in it that raised the critics. People would have wanted someone more legitimate.

    there's nothing wrong with this ad. nothing offensive. no racism. The guy with the cello drank pepsi and attended the march, so did the photographer. In this ad, Kendall jenner is a famous model posing for a photoshoot while there's a woman's march, she noticed the march and knew it was for peace but she cant attend because she's on a photoshoot. The guy with the cello invites her to join and she did because its more important and its for peace. So she removed her wig and her make up then joined the march instead of posing for the photoshoot for a magazine. she gave pepsi to the police officer bcos she wants them to join in for the peace too. Everyone's drinking pepsi during the march they just used pepsi as the main item to get them all together. its a pepsi commercial anyway.

Everybody needs to quit with the racism bullshit. It's old and getting to be petty af. And yes, I'm a black woman incase anybody who wants to run their mouth at me wonders!?!?....#leaveracismoutofit

      @rhun4832 Před 6 lety +18

      i agree to an extent. in my eyes, it seems dumb and she looked dumb from start to finish. hands down. i dont blame her because she didn't spend a ton of time in high school AND she has a pretty superficial job that doesn't require a ton of brain power. also, i dont think she spends a ton of time in the United States so just innocent unintentional ignorance.
      the controversy was about her position and the meaning behind it. shes a well off white female who rose above ALL modern norms. she didnt have to go to school. she doesnt have to work everyday until retirement. she came from a well off family from the start. any of the protests she decides to attend have little impact on her or her life. even being a woman, she can buy her way into safety and respect. police officers have caused a lot of deaths and assaults over protesting on normal people. on top of the counterculture coming along and running people down with cars during protests. its dangerous but needs to happen because for some people, these issues actually have immediate impact to their lives. when you're on the bottom in terms of social class, you feel the effect of bad politics in a very direct way.
      the video doesn't represent just ONE protest, it represents them all. the issue people have: a well off white woman seeing a march and joining (no issue). they you see her push her way to the front of the protest (pushing herself AHEAD of those who're normal people) and taking a leading role despite some of these issues having little impact on her. THEN, she sees a angry cop and walks up to him effortlessly with no worry of her personal safety (because police brutality doesnt effect celebs or white celebs) then she grabs a soda and hands it to him like she's managed to solve all world problems with a carbonated drink.

    • @rhun4832
      @rhun4832 Před 6 lety +12

      its not necessarily racist. just a bit insensitive. unfortunately, i feel she was a bit too naive to notice anything wrong with it and i feel the creator didnt have these intentions. protesting has recently become a culture in todays youth. there's a lot more young people willing to march so they tried to grasp on whats popular and in the times.
      not intentional. just holds a decent amount of hidden symbolism. i feel a lot of people dislike the kardashians and thats why this blew up. im sure if someone like Bruno mars or Leonardo DiCaprio did this, everyone would turn a blind eye

      ry c ry c you are really REACHING. One thing doesn’t have to do with another. And what? What makes Kendall any less deserving to attend a protest if she feels the need to? And what? See this is where the problem lies. She didn’t PUSH people out of the way to get to the top of the crowd. That’s really exaggerating. And fear of her safety from the police? In what world would anyone in a peaceful protest walking up to a police officer with a can of soda extending it to them have to be scared for their life? I could see if it was a violent protest or something that was more violent and cops had to be on edge but it was a peaceful protest and cops were there to make sure everything was okay. Your really reaching for issues that are clearly not prevalent in this video. No one would be in an uproar if it was Katy perry, or Kesha or even Rihanna for God’s sake

      Trust me, am sure why white people don't like this. Am really sure. The ad is hitting a solidified thoughts or probably a false reality based on denying facts or everyday reality in america. if any one have problem with this ad, then something is greatly wrong with their hearts. They need to look inward and start asking question on why this ad does not sit well with them.

    • @xonor13
      @xonor13 Před 7 lety +23

      femo madel are you done copying and pasting the same dumb message on every comment? The reason people don't like this commercial is extremely easy to understand and it's easy to see that you don't understand or even try to read other people's comments before you copy and paste your same message. It has nothing to do with white people hating it just simply that the message that Pepsi is going for is heartless. All this ad shows is that Pepsi is willing to pretend that they follow a certain cause just to get more people to buy their product.

      The ad is modelled after the Black Lives Matter movement, following incidents of white US police officers unreasonably shooting/beating black people to death.
      The problem with the ad is, giving a can of softdrink to the police *does* *not* *solve* *the* *problem**.* It's an idiotic ad that does nothing helpful to the social problem and the movement itself. Pepsi better learn to steer clear from stuff like this from now on.

By the way, the sound track uses a common deception about hearing what we expect. It says "I am of Baal, Baal, Baal. I am a Fail Fail Fail". Why do you have copy rights for the video, but not their original audio. Did Pepsi work with you to get this out there? We all know that Pepsi has Human Embryonic Kidney (HEK) 293 flavor enhancement in it.

      zxionix | CSGO & more! they are hardly the "monsters of our time"... like lets think reasonably about this the attrosaties committed by terrorists like ISIS, The IRA and various other factions make them the monsters of our time... not the police who are just there to uphold the law.

    To all who were offended by this: GET OVER YOURSELVES. It's a message about commonality even in the face of difference of beliefs. You only see "offensive" content cause you have this self-centered idealistic/unrealistic view of the world, thinking that if someone says something you dont like then you need a "safe space". I dare you to go to Russia and act like this. You won't last a day.

    I'M A BLACK AMERICAN and I honestly don't see what's wrong here! It looks to me like people of all races and walks of life are gathered together to peacefully protest and stand up for what ever they believe. This looks like UNITY to me.... What's the issue? If Beyonce, Rihanna or some other Black celebrity did the commercial do you really think it would have gotten all of this backlash??????? hmmmm

    • @Magneticitist
      @Magneticitist Před 7 lety +44

      it's not that. it's the fact that pepsi clearly tried to sell it's fucking soda that way. this commercial is a good example of just how out of touch these mfers are. the group of people that brainstormed that ad are clueless.
      the reality that occurs when people come together like that is much different. they have actual causes they are fighting for and it's not just a bunch of smiling happy people from all walks of life who get together to fist bump each other for drinking pepsi. it's no joyous occasion for all when marching met by police resistance is introduced to cans of soda.
      it's soda. just say it's delicious and cast kendall to stand there looking hot while drinking it.
