Jessie u r a Legend! Thanks for all ur info and time spent sharing it with us. I updated my early 2008 Mac Pro 2x2.8GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon w AMD RX570 8GB, 56 GB of ram, on my 2TB ssd. Everything works fine. Used OCLP 1.4.2 to download the 14.4.1 of Sonoma to my applications folder. And to update my 2TB drive. Then double clicked the 'Install Sonoma' app to open it and start the install. Took almost an hour of time in total. So you can safely assume it works on this old workhorse and other cheese grater models. Enjoy your Easter weekend!

I also record professional audio with a professional microphone & audio interface. I love this computer and my setup.

Great videos - always very helpful! I’ve got a Mac Pro 5,1 with an RX 5500 (not XT) that runs great on Monterrey OCLP. But, no matter what I do, when I install Sonoma 14.4, at the end the bar stops about 1/3 of the way (which is the screen prior to the login screen). My understanding is that this is video driver related. Booting into efi and holding shift while clicking the Sonoma drive does the same - doesn’t seem to be going into safe mode. I followed your steps exactly, but OCLP never brings up the option to download the KDK when beginning the Sonoma install (as it does for you). I even downloaded it and tried installing it at the end of the Sonoma install (before rebooting). Am I correct in assuming the RX 5500 is just not supported? I’ve spent a lot of hours reinstalling Monterrey and trying different upgrade methods.

Download the OC 1.4.1 zip on a USB key and install it over your previous version. Launch it and rebuild opencore. On reboot ethernet should be back. Install the root patch for wifi, on reboot forget your network and rejoin and you're good to go

Beware! OCLP 1.4.1 hangs my iMAC18,3 on macOS 14.3 with external Startup SSD Drive - Samsung T7 4TB. (The previous OCLP 1.3.0 was stable.) Once User Account selection screen appears, both keyboard and touchpad (tried both bluetooth and wired) have no response at all. Thus, there's no way to enter a password.
I used the internal Fusion Drive to Startup and reinstall OCLP 1.3.1 to the external SSD. No luck. The external SSD is still unable to start up.

@@JessiesFlying Hi Jessie, Finally it works on the External SSD Startup disk. 1) Same as the update to macOS 13 and OCLP 1.3.0, the internal Fusion Drive has to be updated to OCLP 1.4.1 and macOS 14.4. Then I re-run the OCLP 1.4.1 on the External SSD Startup Drive, the user selection and password login page resumes normal again. And then Re-boot to EFI, and select external SSD 4TB becomes normal and the macOS Update to 14.4 is smooth. I suspect that some of the OCLP update process tasks may look back to the EFI of the Internet Fusion Drive though the boot up starts from the external SSD's EFI. 2) When I tested it on a 2TB Samsung T7 Startup drive, there's no problem. But the 4TB Samsung T7 has real-life data and is already 3TB occupied with over 200,000 photos in the Photos app. I guess that the OCLP doesn't take care of some time-out issues.

Sonoma 14.3, latest OCLP. Everything works perfect, the only issue that i have is with the USB ports, for eg to hook up my external SSD for backup, it works perfectly, i connect my phone and connects/disconnects continuously, if i put a cheap 3.0 USB hub in the middle, the phone works perfect, and with my Gopro, it doesn't work with or without hub, but it charges it. Everything was tested with and without the computer on external power. Do you had any similar problem with all your computers that you tested? Thanks in advance for your time! Christian
