  • Trump is fuming Bob Woodward's new book, an anonymous op-ed in the New York Times, and probably other things that we'll learn later in future books and anonymous op-eds.

Meanwhile, in an inerview with the Daily Caller, Trump said, and this is a direct quote: "I think it's embarrassing for the country to allow protesters."
I can't even make a joke about this. The President of the United States of America thinks that people exercising their freedom to protest is embarrassing.

How about you adults don’t let the five year old drive the bus?

I heard a former George W. Bush official talking about how disturbing it is that cabinet members feel they have to subvert a sitting president to keep him from doing bad things-- in a sane world, that would be utterly unacceptable, and may amount an "administrative coup-de-tat". I am afraid, however, that we passed through the looking glass a long time ago. The Bush official said the anonymous official should resign, take five or six senior staff with him, and be as loud as possible about why they were resigning. That's how you traditionally call attention to unacceptable behavior like this.
The official also agreed with Colbert that the 25th Amendment is a remedy, not a crisis in itself. I've generally disliked the idea behind the 25th, but I may be coming around to seeing it as at least a necessary evil in this case. And, btw, we are already in a constitutional crisis, with Trump's attacks on the media and parts of his own administration.

The President's tweet says "Don't know why Washington politicians don't change libel laws." Mr. President, Bob Woodward's book is NOT protected. As I'm sure your lawyers have already told you, you can sue Mr. Woodward for libel right now if you so wish. And you, Mr. President, have ALREADY sued many people for libel. So I'm sure you know this, too.
So, the very fact that your SAYING this, rather than actually DOING it, rather takes the wind out of your accusation. The very fact that you're NOT suing him pretty much tells us that the book is, in fact, NOT libelous. Clearly, far from being libelous, it's right on point!

As a private citizen, Trump can sue but just because he is holding onto all his businesses it does not make him a Private citizen. So maybe he should be fired so he can get the official boot out of the WH. Then he can sue but only for stuff said after he left the WH. The other stuff is old news and courts do not deal with old news. They CAN INVESTIGATE WHAT HE WAS DOING WHILE IN THE WH, that they will do once he is gone...he has no authority over the judicial proceedings...so he is Damned if he stays and Screwed if he goes.

That whoever this is thinks they are handling the situation themselves is very dangerous - it's outside the rules in place to protect from situations such as this. To think this is okay is basically saying it's all right for anyone to hoodwink the President, any president, so long as that person deems it's for the greater good. That's a very subjective and slippery slope, and to me it's even more alarming in some ways. Doing the wrong thing for the right reason doesn't make it right. I really, really don't want Pence, but if they're really that concerned, they need to do things the right way and BREAK THE DAMN GLASS.

The legislature: Has elected representatives that pass laws and control the executive branch. The judiciary: Controls the executive and legislative branch by enforcing the law on the highest levels of government.
