- This week's episode of Tiny Spaces features a special collaboration with Ori, making the furniture of the future and multiplying space using robotics.
About Ori:
"Our goal is to empower people to live large in a small footprint. We believe spaces should expand and adapt to our lives, that smarter spaces can provide us with the flexibility we need, and deliver the experience we want, by transforming effortlessly-almost magically."

What I love about it is that the bed and the pocket spaces work without requiring an unrealistic level of decluttering or effort, because otherwise in practice it never happens. I've known so many people in studio apartments that really only put their bed away when someone's coming over, because it's too much work to make the bed and fold it back into the couch. I love that you don't even have to make the bed to put it away, and it's no more effort than opening your blinds in the morning. Keeping the coffee table cleaned off is reasonable, while the side tables and bookshelves can have stuff that is left in place. Likewise, you don't have to clean up your office to close it, you just have to keep the floor space clear, which is reasonable. Shifting the empty floor space around is genius.
This is precisely why we designed our products the way we did :)
Yes I agree! I was very interested in the price and saw all the different variations they've done on their site. The only thing I'm wondering about is how comfortable that bed and couch actually is, it looks pretty stiff 😅
wonderful but...you also should have shown us the kitchen and bathroom :)
YES
Yes from me also. I was waiting to see what they had designed for the kitchen and bath, but nothing was shown. Like you, I LOVE the space and the changing ability.
Yes
I feel the same way…...Maybe they didn’t innovate the bathroom and the kitchen .🇦🇺
Plot twist. Theres no bathroom or kitchen 😕
The floor to ceiling windows on the back wall are everything when it comes to these small studio apartments. It really opens up the room and makes it feel so much larger than it actually is.
How about a mural?
Thank you so much for stopping by!
yes, so much fun!
yesss so fun!
The thing about these designs, is that while housing is getting more expensive, installing these systems is probably prohibitively expensive.
I was thinking all that stuff is probably more than the cost of a bigger apartment. However, you only buy it once.
Right what are talking here like 50 grand+ for all this?
But in NYC u can make 60k a year buy just charging 5k a month
Bed is 16000$ according to google. In my country they make it for years, similar but manual power (with counter weights so it is easy to move), in 2014 it cost 1500eur, around 1700$. 16000$ is frankly ridiculous, but even at that price it might be worth it in many places. Lets say you save 10m2 just with just a bed, that might be worth 100k.
That office space blew me away.
Highly impressed. I wish society would reward designers and scientists the same way they do athletes.
Looks like a perfect scene for Final Destination.
I wanna see those drywall anchors!
He’s right- it’s literally multiplying a space because you can have multiple rooms in one space you just need to convert it. It might seem like a niche thing now but in the near future, this kind of smart living will be very common.
Definitely the future
LOVE IT!!!
That all depends on how much it will cost.
This would not be for me. . Unless I could be out of the apartment most of the time. I like to be able to get in and out of my closet , e.g.
They're are now new Murphy Beds that have the couch, arm chairs just like this but it folds into the wall. Just like this. A lot cheaper. Search it up. Some of them are just so cool & brilliant.
That's for sure the coolest thing I've seen today. I mean, talk about futuristic living… It feels like The Jetsons
Thank you so much, TheQuadFather!
SO cool!!!
I am amazed, particularly by the office space. It is a certain way for a person who works from home to be able to leave work mentally and physically. All spaces were beautiful and functional.
And the great thing is all of the spaces seem usable at the same time! Sure, they will be smaller, but you can watch TV, work in the office and even go into the closet or use the table on the back wall of the closet at the same time!
So you could have two people working there at the same time. Idk, i'm just astounded by how clever and convenient (especially compared to other tiny, converting apartments that are manuelly operated) this is.
I've seen other videos of "gimmicks" to use space in more than one way, but this is a practical application that works effortlessly. The technology and mechanics would make it expensive, especially with this high quality of construction, but it succeeds in making a small apartment bigger.
Since we didn't see the bathroom, I'd just like to imagine you can press a button and a toilet comes down from the ceiling.
Every 10 seconds… Omagooosh this is amaaaaazinguu
We get it.
The future is this in every smart home! 😍
We agree Charm! Thank you for your support!
Smart is the OPERATIVE WORD
Truly an amazing use of space! Probably the most efficient micro-studio I've seen. My apartment is 320 sq ft, but it feels much smaller than this. The apartment building began its life as a hotel, and the apartments are simply converted hotel rooms. I've seen these features in another building on the upper west side, in West Harlem, all kitted out with the same cantilevered bed and walk-in closet. I wish we could have seen the kitchen and bathroom. Otherwise, I would rent one of these apartments in a heartbeat.
James, that's awesome! Yes, cities around the world are densely packed and it's awesome that Ori found solutions to work around that. A converted hotel room sounds pretty cool!
The bathroom and kitchen are standard and unchanged. Their site shows all the different variations they've done to studio, 1br, 2br in a ton of cities across the US. I was interested myself in the price and saw they actually have them in my city Columbus Ohio and Ohio never gets new things first! Very cool. I was thinking Japan and other counties that are tech forward and highly populated must be doing this already
The walk-in closet/Bookcase/office table is my favourite. But these are all great ideas. As an Ex librarian I like these new designs that move modules around like archive bookcases. Only problem: they’re not affordable!
This is a really cool invention! Kudos to all tech folks that designed these pieces 😍
I love the idea of pocket spaces. Having brought my children up in a very small house a pocket play room would have been appreciated. Not necessarily to actually play in but one hideable area to keep the majority of their toys when they were in bed would have been lovely
This is nice 🤗 my concern is the mechanics on the bed and if it's totally safe and won't malfunction and drop while sitting on the sofa?...but other than that it's awesome 😎👍🏿💯
Yes my fear also
I assume it has a counterweight.
@@annsilliman6184 or that closet just shutting on you while you're digging around for you're laundry. I'm sure the engineers took that into the consideration though. 🤣 Other than a freak accident I think it would be safe.
What happens if the power goes out? It is cool though!
What happens if you’re (or a child) on the bed when it goes up?
These + a Tiny House = Magic
👏🏻 👏🏻👏🏻
Damnnn
I love this, and especially because it’s still functional with the spaces still engaged, like the office and closet “open”
Thank you so much, Valerie!
Take my money!!! I NEED this ASAP!
isn't it amazing !
I’d live in that space if there’s a full bathroom and washer/dryer. I could see a kitchen, but wanted to see it in full. I want a demo on how to manually bring down the bed if there’s a power outage. Also… how much is that place? I imagine it’s not affordable despite the alleged cost savings.
yes yes yes
Hear, hear! Apply that technology to creating a kitchen and a bathroom Throw in a washer-dryer AND a tub ... "To dream the impossible dream ..." 🎵
All of this.
This is a Brookfield building in Hudson Yards. Rents in the Eugene are high.
The best tiny space I’ve seen! Very livable, and in the long run a lot of room!
What a great idea! I am claustrophobic and I couldn't see me living in a small space like that EVER. I had an 800 sq. ft. house one time with two people living in it altogether and after a few years I felt closed in. We bought a 1000 sq.ft. house until I moved again. Anyway, the ideas are very innovative and VERY practical. I am sure that you will get a lot of clients ordering your units; especially if they like living and working in the big cities which have small living quarters. All of the best for you and your company. I am sure that you will do very well. Thanks for show casing this for us.
Thank you so much for this wonderful comment. We were so lucky to collaborate with ORI!
This is amazing! I love his passion for what his company is bringing to the table. He's right: if small is going to be the norm (I personally don't want any part of that, but you young 'uns, have at it), you really need to bring in a revised technology and design approach. Love it.
All wonderful! Love that they took power outages into consideration and I would love to see it operated manually.
Wow I'm speechless, this is so cool.👏
Thank you! Isn't it awesome!
It's absolutely horrifying that this much affected enthusiasm is required from hosts of these channels.
The problem is with all the mechanics in that flat if anything ever breaks it's going to cost you a fortune to fix
Great point
That's very nice.I like the bed on the ceiling idea and the hidden wal in closet.
The bed is slick tho!
Love the closet and desk concept. Absolutely genius use of limited space.
Taas ng energy ni ate. Napapagod ako para sa kanya.
my favorite part of this apartment is absolutely everything ! ...and his accent just made it even better. :P
Bathroom and kitchen are just as important.
That is incredible! Such imaginative use of space! Like he said, space is too precious for every space not to be made as multi-functional as this is.
Incredible. Beautiful
Thank you so much!
Brilliant!
Thank you, Toni!
I loooove this concept, but I know it comes with a big price tag. I need it anyway.
SOOOO worth it!
I LOVE THIS SHOW AND SHE MAKES IT A JOY TO WATCH HER BUBBLY PERSONALITY IS EVERYTHING❤
Thanks girl!!!
Talia is the greatest!
if she would not talk so much and let the owner speak more, the show is fun!!
Really? I found her to be unauthentic, as she's just standing there overacting the bubbly personality stuff. It doesn't feel real, but forced. Stop interrupting the dude whose explaining his design. Just listen. You don't need to agree with every half sentence he says.
@@The4valanche yea fr i wish she asked better questions too
Love this high tech apartment. Thanks for sharing 👍 🥰
Absolute genius!!! Love the creative use of space but I just wonder what happens when there's a blackout..or you blow a fuse!? Lol
They just said manual movement instead
If I’m asleep in the bed, and someone (who shall remain nameless) decides to raise the bed back to the ceiling … will the robotics recognize an added weight to the bed and not cooperate with the lift? I’m hoping.
just great. adore the clean design yet the tecnological touch. and the voise control, of course
SUPERB ! MANY THANKS ! LOVE & PEACE to ALL !
Very cool! I love stuff like this that allows multi-use without having to spend 10 minutes going through a complicated process to convert from one use to the other. We buy and waste so much space for small amounts of convenience. As he said, that nice walk-in closet is great for the 15 minutes a day it gets used! Great job.
Amazing and innovative! Thinking outside the box…literally!
Very well planned and, hopefully, the next video will include the bathroom and kitchen!
Gorgeous, love this for a tiny home 😍
Bravo! What an amazing space with clever features for city living. I’m so in love with the apartment. Love the channel!
YAY!!! Thanks @gina!!
Yay Gina!!! Thank you so much for the love!
The bed and office are fabulous.
I know!
Fascinating design!
ORI is so smart living. Love love love.
Amazing design and so needed in today's apartments.
What an amazing smart space, if only we could see the bathroom and the kitchen
I love the office and the walk in closet.
So Dope!
Absolutely brilliant!!!
SOOOO COOOL!
Wow!!! This is incredible and makes me want to move in...I love it!!!
Love, love, loved it!!!!😍. What great designs.....
This absolutely blew my mind -- amazing!!
We are THRILLED that you loved this episode! Ori is awesome.
Absolutely Brilliant!💕💕💯💯
This appartment is super cool. 🙂🇨🇦
Love the pocket office!
Fascinating!
Amazing!! A lot of creativity!!
TIP-TOP!!!
Great job. Inspiring and so practical.
All of that was our favorite part of that apartment! 😍🥰
I love the hidden desk area! That’s the messiest part of my house when I’m working. How nice to know it could be “put away” just as it is, so I can pick up right where I left off. Great ideas!!
i'm blown away
Amazing apartment! The most fun apartment I’ve seen so far!
Beautiful!!
Now that is best small space ever!
I love big houses, but this is so neat. Wonderful design.
Wow, absolutely love this😍😍😍
Just one word… AMAZING
I currently live in an 350 square ft. Ori Unit (Pocket Studio Lite) in Washington D.C.and LOVE IT. So much to the point I inquired about personal purchase and was so disappointed they’re working solely with developers. I highly recommend it if you come across a complex that offers the system to make the transition to minimalist living an effortless experience. ✨🤌🏾
How much does it cost if I may ask?
@@Linoosethemooss $1875/mo … it varies per complex
so cool!
You just made our DAY! So thrilled to hear how much you love your expandable home.
@@UnclassifiedDopeness Not bad at all 😊
All incredible
this is freaking amazing!
Really well thought out features to make a small important bigger.
I came across these Ori solutions when looking at a zennahouse. Had no idea these were existing systems, loving it. Will check out the product itself, thanks for the video.
Awsome features for a small space
Clever creative folks have always *fascinated* me...This is truly genius!!!
I know right!
It's really impressive. Look that office space, I like it a lot. It's very suitable for a solo person staying by themselves and only have friends over for a drink and part ways before bed time. Nice job you guys.
Thank you, Mwishka!
OMG , OMG, OMG!!!! MIT folks man, crazy!!
Appreciate there's and actual sofa and other comfortable seating at the window. I'm sure they have it sorted, but I'd like to see how all the cords and cables are managed in the moving section with the TV/office. Where's the bathroom?? Wish they had shown the rest of the apartment even if it didn't have Ori elements.
This is incredible! They literally thought about everything 😱
I freaking love this
So imaginative.
Damn I've seen this apartment once somewhere on social media. It was on Facebook, maybe Instagram or somewhere else. Wasn't able to find it for months but always had this apartment in my mind. And CZcams suddenly showed this one today. Saving this video!
Amazing!
ah yes, something to make expensive tiny apartments even tinier and more expensive, sounds like a great plan during a massive housing crisis
This is amazing!! 😍👏👏
