And here you have it! Please let me know if you have any questions! I know that there aren't many reviews out there, so I will try to answer as much as possible! remember to drop a like :) And for more VR Tech, the usual subscribe button works :P
I can't wait to see all the advertisements on my bedroom wall.
Google is waiting for you!
Just wait for the advertisements to get in bed with you ;)
If people think ad tracking is bad now, wait until they are monitoring your vision all day long...
"We noticed you glanced at these shoes for 7 seconds on your way to work, have an ad for them"...
Finally, some actual mixed reality. Well, augmented reality. Come on, Microsoft, get it straight.
MS is tied up with US Military www.govexec.com/defense/2019/12/virtual-reality-great-only-if-it-works-troops-zombieland/161620/
100,000 headsets ordered for 2020
the first version was $3000... it was $5000 with some sort of commercial license and support and stuff like that
also for H2 they have an option for getting it for $100 a month
100 dollars each month is a great option for small businesses!
@@JorgTheElder en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_HoloLens I don't see a point in getting the Commercial Suite unless u r Audi or whatever other company like that
Looks amazing. I think future VR headsets like the Quest 2 will copy this headset design.
In terms of the computer and battery in the back? Yeah, why didn't they just do that for the 1st Quest?? They even made prototypes with this design!
@@devindykstra probably manufacturing cost and durability
@@ThunderDraws mounting problems or camera interferance?
@@axtra9561 getting data to the front via some cable in the headstrap must be much more expensive than an inexpensive piece of plastic headstrap
Cant wait to save up for a Hololens 3 or 4, when they get to the price range of an index ^^
Very interesting Ty, thanks for sharing!!
thanks for coming by :)
The OCULUS Quest should have been designed like that (with the unit on the back)
It's not a new idea at all - no idea why they didn't. Maybe it was cheaper the way they did it.
@@eebgoz I don't think it was cheaper because I think they designed it with the ability to lay down or lay against a wall without a box behind your head that could break or be uncomfortable. They still could have done better with the head strap thoe.
@@ashtonk.2380: If that was the reasoning, it was poor reasoning. They could have easily made it thin enough that it's not a big deal. On some headsets I routinely attach counterweights about an inch thick, and even at that extreme they don't bother me much when I lie down.
@@eebgoz It may not bother you but it would bother me especially if I was laying my head against a hard surface. I think what oculus should have done is added an optional and detachable counterweight with the headset.
@@ashtonk.2380 Maybe, or just made the hardware on the back very flat and thin. Reduced overall weight compared to the alternative.
Imagine one of these helping you fix a car, or even build one
I'd want it for room renovation type stuff like imagine the creativity potential, you could go out in public and see other peoples creations along the sidewalk or grass. I feel like it would bring much more creativity overall.
But i dont think their going that route
Thanks for doing such a great in-depth look at HoloLens 2, Tyriel!! I know I can always count on you for coverage. How cool is it that this is what technology has become?? Now, when can us consumers purchase this, I better start saving some cash! :P also, did you get to meet Alex Kipman?
Best video I’ve seen this week. (Yes, I am saying this before the Valve announcement, so that may change. :P)
❤
i mean im more into VR cause it can make entire environments with immersion, but this is some impressive technology.. wow..
You’re probably my favourite vr news channel, thanks for being straight forward about everything and not being a character.
Dang hope I can try a hands on with one of these
Join US Army they did a contract with Microsoft
wait, for real?
Supposed to buy a 100,000 in 2020

I understand the layout is very CODish

It is rolling out fast!
can't wait for gaming on this, this will do a huge change to gaming, imagine having it pluged to a PC and play some games with it in real world, most realistic gaming experience possible, but it's gonna take some years
If AR could really replace the phone then its gonna be really great!!
Can you use the hololens for normal civillian things like just wqtching youtube, google, videogames etc. or is it purely just for business?
Tech made possible by MicroVision! Everyone should support that company
when you were talking I was thinking about some application that would be pretty useful of the HOLOLENS, I don't know anything about fixing my own car it would be nice for me to look at my vehicle or engine and have the HOLOLENS tell me what to do and point out whats what.
Thank you so much for the information! How was the hand tracking? Did it ever not work? Microsoft should give you one for free... This is such a good channel! Or maybe you can get the developer's edition for $100/month. Keep up the great work!
I think when AR is more in-line with holograms instead of headsets it will take off
For the average person, I can see this being of good use if you want to fix something at home DIY style like a water heater replacement or washer or dryer machine parts replacement or fixing your car, or anything useful like that. Basically something useful to use this for other than Pokemon Go, Netflix, Hulu, and CZcams, because $3500 plus tax is definitely NOT CHEAP!.
Does it have sound Tyriel, like the piped idea like Occlus quest and rift S? Or a headphone socket maybe for buds or whatever, they really are getting there with the size. And while it's not available yet for consumers, the point is Microsoft are learning lots of things that work and do not. Their VR headsets which I don't believe get as much love and respect as the likes of Occulus, Vive and of course Valve. Were quite ahead of the game in terms of tracking, they were the ones doing inside out tracking. Which now you have on the Rift S and Quest, and is extremely good and makes for a quicker set up. So I think everything Microsoft is learning, when they come to make consumer headsets. They are going to be fantastic, and a real contender in the VR and AR space. Plus the business market is where the money is, and that money will allow Microsoft to make the tech cheaper for consumers.
I just wish I could buy one. Why only marketed to businesses
Love VR but i think this is the future .
The future for what? To see your room in every app? AR and VR are complety different. This is nothing for consumers
@@tropicaltrev1617 Good point! Very interesting! I will think about that
this shit is so futuristic
Can you observe from another terminal? I guess what I mean is If you were observing somebody doing a task could you use it to test someone to see if they did the task right according to the camera's on the halolens and then debrief them when the task is complete?
Very interesting, thanks Tyriel! How is it on the eyes? What is the quality of text? Can it be comfortably used for long reading sessions?
The thing about AR is that you don't have the pixelation that you have in VR, the resolution is pretty high though, it was really easy to read, but I didn't test very far text, but at the right distance it was absolutely comfortable to read , I hope I answered the question!
@@Tyrielwood Sounds good, thanks Tyriel!
@@Tyrielwood u would have sde if the 1440p resolution was stretch to 110 fov..... but with the smaller fov it's close to 60ppd like the sweet spot of the varjo where u can't see the sde... and the H1 was also close to that ppd.... but there r some concerns by experts in the field that the perceived resolution is a bit lower because of the new scanning mirror display setup
Damm Ironman tech good hands-on bruh
Please tell us how the hololens 2 is for web browsing and watching you tube/videos/use as a monitor replacement. That is something we as consumers would really be interested in. For example I can go camping and enjoy my surroundings and watch a floating tv screen or web browser and still enjoy my surroundings? Or it doesn't work well to do this? Or do programming work using the hololens as a monitor? Also, what about the ability to play pc games on the hololens, I heard there is a way to stream them but it is unclear about performance and feasibility.
Looks like a dream, for me anyways I am afraid that where its going to remain. Unless I win the lottery lol. Awesome review as always Tyriel. A+ content!
It will be cheap right now a lot of stuff are expensive to see how it is and how it works but I'm sure they will lower it once it becomes more popular and well fixed
I am hoping that Microsoft is going to announce that anyone who wants this and can afford it can buy it at MWC 2020. I am sure that is why they are having their Chief Product Officer and Alex Kipman and Mrs. White. They are definitely having a hololens 2 news and I am hoping that it's what I hope it is. That rich enough people with 3500 dollar's burning a hole in their pockets or bank accounts can get their hands on this.
Great coverage!
In the future all the processing power will be your phone... then streamed over WiFi/ Bluetooth to lightweight glasses with tracking tech...
Great video! It looks like the technology is getting better. I can't wait for the day we see a company like Oculus come out with one designed for personal use to use with games like the Walking Dead AR game and Minecraft Earth. Exciting stuff!
Well, now we know that they are working on something! Consumer AR coming ?
What kind of apps are available on it? Is it the full store like on pc (minus games)? Also if I was on youtube on it, how would I type in the search? Or is it all voice to text?
good to see the fov greatly improved - it was laughably tiny in the first one
All of the laser display elements of the Hololens2, including the lasers, scanning mirrors, and guides, were invented by a company called Microvision. Microsoft buys these critical parts from Microvision to enable their design.
Unfortunately, Microsoft pretends they invented the whole thing. Microvision can't speak up because they are under an NDA.
Close up pictures of a prototype unit shown in another video reveal that the Microvision logo is on the PC boards. Microvision did admit that their name was on the boards when asked in a conference call.
So, just remember, this is only possible because of proprietary tech purchased from Microvision.
they are very stylish
I can imagine PlayStation 5 going down the same road as holo lens 2 so imagine using Dreams using a headset and body gestures
this is a little out there; but would it be possible to add in a 3d character model - for example without saying too much about my own developments, a pre reccorded or animated women model?? and give you the option to interact with her using the Hololens headset?? for example scale the size or gesture recognition??
*non adult content, just curious to know if you could insert and interact with an animated scale model character using this system?? thanks
and u still haven't changed your profile pic :P
Noted :P
This is wonderful. But directly connecting your eyes to scroll is a bad idea: it imposes on "freedom of sight" and makes a person very self-conscious about his sight and is generally annoying when you just want to SEE instead of interacting. Using eye-tracking for contextual data when command is ambiguous is fine, using it for accessibility reasons is fine, but "see to interact" thing is impractical.
I will say that I wasn't expecting that to work well as well, but I had to change my mind about it. the way they implemented it is way way better than what you would expect, it doesn't just scroll randomly, but I think it processes that you are actually reading, through a horizontal movement and then activate the scrolling on the vertical. I could not believe how much not invasive and useful it was
I want this so bad. I think Alex Kipman is making a mistake by not letting those who are able to afford this and want to get it be able to get it without first having a company. I think that it should be released by Microsoft on their website sold by them to anyone wanting to pay the price. I would even say that I would be OK with the public having to pay in full for it instead of getting on a installment plan. But there should not be any limitations on how many they can buy. I am willing to save up and get two. Though I will have to do it one at a time. There are a lot of people who I have personally gotten hooked on the technology who really want this to be made available for everyone who can afford it. Microsoft is losing a lot of potential revenue by not allowing people to buy this if they have the means
definitely much improved, but FOV has always been its achilles heal, which you only really see when you try it on and see how misleading all the promotional videos are. How accurate is the representation at 8:22 ? I read that it is way exaggerated compared to reality.
I would say that that representation was slightly exaggerated, but I found the FOV bigger than other competitors like nReal etc.
I didn't notice that much the edges of the display while using it, probably because I was focused on the holograms in the center and they were relatively not over sized.
Just FYI to people new to VR this is not the most expensive headset on the market.
In the future , put your phone away , wear hololens and live in virtual world.
Nice one dude!
Hey dude! Im not sure if I replied at your question about the light positioning, it is usually the length of my arm away at 30 degrees
how long does the battery last, can you plug it in for continuous use?
I've read articles stating that the Hololens 2 uses a MEMS scanning mirror invented by MicroVision. Are you able to comment on this rumour? Thank you.
they stated that it's the first display of its kind, that's unfortunately all I know about it, they went very in depth with me describing the screens, they didn't seem like they were holding back something
Honestly idc.. it’s consumer based ar/vr tech I care about if they had made this readily available for business as well as private use I’d be elated.. but just exclusively business oriented makes it feel like a drag app wise... I’ll stick to looking forward to apples ar headset as well as magic leap 2 and nreal light.. enjoying my quest btw
Who would thought Microsoft would be the main company evolving vr an ar for the masses the indiscernible our tracking from mixed reality is the path that all other vr company’s went because it works great with only 2 cameras on front of headset imagine 3 -360 degree cameras added to side and back and boom vr tracking as good as it could get with mobility and no need for base stations.
how sharp and clear are the visuals ?
I am watching this in my vr box 😜
We want to see you using it
I like your Channel 😻😻😻
Someone should make a AR/MR headset with a clear oled screen
I want it now. Give it to me now.
What about net and haw much
is text readable ..was object opaque enough..
Yes and yes, as I said in the video I had to flip up the display to talk the
person in front of me
nice
Rift S vs Oculus Link comparison plz!
bro u promised through the lens comparison of rift s and link
shut up
I want H2 and McIntosh amp.
cool man
You said "Tchau" on the end of the video ?
"Ciao" - He is an Italian CZcamsr.
My Samsung note 3 would scroll with your eyes. Not sure why they stopped that until now. Microsoft paid Samsung to stop that Witchery
I didn't know the note was able to do that
Esse cara queima!
So this is heads up guys, so we have time to put money aside for this. I'll get this as long it doesn't show what color under garments people are wearing 👙🩲
if only vr used retinal projection
You might have to update your channel profile picture!
niceee
Finna get some wins in pavlov
All this is false, microsoft shows similar videos and I deactivate the comments for the same fact, of course you can see an image in the viewer but even the most incredulous knows that to move you need gloves or something to select and move, the idea is like the tony stark iron man visor when designing the suit and other things, in addition to that in the case of a patient it should have a sensor or something that indicates its status.
I know its sort of dev/first adoption products but Its way overpriced.. hope the next oculus quest came with better passthrough camera and allow other app to use it for MR type experiences..
I will stick with my Oculus Quest
I can’t wait
to never see this thing in action
I rather have a vr than this
Why do people try to compare this to a VR headset? It's like me saying I would rather have a Chevy Camaro than a Ford F250.
Do you work for Microsoft? Nice ad though!
A fiend is asking me if is possible to watch por on this?

Awesome. As a consumer, I can't wait to not use this.
I have a bad experience with first Hololens, It is veeeeeeery not good because of the small screen, not clear vision, and uncomfortable when you wear it. H2 looks bigger screen than the first one, but, still not good. And there are just a few contents for HL. And more of all, Toooo expensive. Not AR generation yet, I think.
