Rebel Moon is what happens when you skip all the cutscenes in a video game to get to the final boss fight.
I see it the other way around. Skip all the game play and only watch the cutscenes...in slow mo lol
It wasn't even the final boss. It's the mid boss.
Or write your school book report with discount spark notes.
When you watch Wolfenstein cutscenes story instead of the whole gameplay
Rebel Moon…The Day Before😅
Joe’s starting to become conscious with his interruptions and getting better with them😭 (more character development than anyone in the film)
Except when he says “we all interrupt each other” only interrupter is him lol, enjoy them all regardless tho
One min in and he already interrupted Alex’s monster energy can joke
Joe's the real child of fire lol
😂😂
Interruptor Joe
Zach Snyder is one of my favorite examples of "Failing Upwards"
The reason why snyder has gotten to where he has is that when you give him a plot and script that were handled by someone with actual talent he does a good job. Watchmen and 300 being solid examples of this, comic books which he basically copyed page for page. And because of this, studio execs assumed that he knew how to tell a story. They were wrong.
I agree, although I liked 300 and Sucker Punch (it was silly, cringe, dark, and weird) because they worked. Rebel moon does not.
Would you consider Watchmen a success??? In many conversations, that's the go-to first example to show that Snyder consistently botches adaptations. 300 I liked at the time, but in retrospect...I'm increasingly sure Snyder was being 100% serious and thought he was making high art. He's the only one not in on the joke with that movie
It does make me really excited for those Ayn Rand adaptations he's been talking about for ages, though. Snyder has the magical talent of completely missing the point of anything he adapts and utterly butchering it and I cannot wait to see that power used for good.
@@thekillerprawn
@@shinnyshin7792 Watchmen kinda needed the dumbing down. It failed to capture the deep satire meant for actual comic fans, but that made it mainstream enough for it to be enjoyable. Failing upwards.
Funniest part for me was when they met Tarak and within 3 minutes they were willing to risk indentured servitude
The stakes are ridiculous. The generic empire is pursuing them, wrecking civilizations, and burning resources all over a few hundred bushels of wheat. Everyone that watched this movie lost an IQ point and likely got a headache.
Mel Brooks said, "Take all your time on writing the script. Because when your on set, time is money. So take ALL THE TIME ON THE SCRIPT!" And you know what? He's right.
and modern film makers say, "fuck you, Mel Brooks! I don't need a script, I have CGI!!!!!!!!"
@@curtisbresslerthis is why you still see physical comedy in movies and not CGI.
You’re…
Nolan took 5 years to write the crap that was Tenet. More time =/= quality.
@@Jarekx2007Tenet still outweighs Snyder's entire filmography, so the point stands.
I loved that the robot ran away when it realised the script was terrible, and it didn't return until the film was over lol
I really want the story of what it's been up to, showing back up with fucking antlers and such....just not written by snyder
White South Africans can’t catch a break being cast as villains.. Anthony Hopkins is awesome in anything he’s in.
😂😂😂
Best comment. The robot legit killed a dude and left without saying a word.
The black crow the spider and the cantina copied scene with the guy with the weird bodily attachement😂😂😂😂…just so odd
Proof: Christopher Nolan never cuts a directors cut. He directs/edits according to the parameters given to him by the execs and we get gold almost everytime.
Nolan is a competent filmmaker, Snyder isn't
Even James Gunn and Matt Reeves are able to make a decent film between 90 and 180 minutes
@@rbleaks818 I always role my eyes when his cult blame the exect for cutting his movie.
What qualifications do Snyder even have to make a 3 hour movie? He isn't on the same level as Nolan or Scorcese.
Nolan has a competent team that he works with often, Snyder wants to do everything himself, and he's not that competent at anything
@@blueorange6221 I'm gonna be honest, I don't understand the general consensus of making longer and longer movies (like at that point, just make a fucking high budget TV show - It's already a hard sell for me to sit through a 3 hour ish movie once, much less TWICE).
Zack Snyder trying to do Kurosawa is like Helen Keller trying to play darts.
I’d bet on Keller hitting the bullseye before Zack actually succeeding with his own script lol
so you're saying there's a chance
He’s the definition of missing the point.
Ouch
"World-borrowing" as opposed to world building. Hahaha, thank you Alex for summing this film up perfectly.
I'm a little confused. Why exactly is that a bad thing? World of Warcraft has done it for years, and it's worked out for them.
@@TheConspiratorist now THAT is a wild take
@@TheConspiratorist It's not if you do it well and make it your own. This is not.
@@TheConspiratoristbecause they did a shitty job. It’s like a developer using premade assets in a video - great if you pull it off, but on a shitty game it’s just another thing that sucks
@@LizardSpork You are correct. This film's writing and visual aesthetics have as much depth and originality as the equivalent of a 10 year old sitting in a sandbox alone smashing his GI Joe, Star Wars, Avatar, and Marvel figures together alongside some 40k minis and an odd anime figure he stole from his brother's shelf without permission.
“This is what AI written Star Wars would be like,” is what I kept thinking the whole time. It’s not terrible visually, but the story is so confused.
It's a crap movie
Yet somehow still better than the recent Disney star wars
The story isnt confused, it's just skipped. Like Joe said, 7 Samurai is a great story thats been told many times in different mediums, but in tbks film they literally skipped the bonding and conflict between the "7 Samurai" that makes that story good in the first place. Like why tf would we fast forward through THE MOST IMPORTANT PARTS smh. For a 2 hour film, we really got nothing of substance
@@prolastmedia6171 its a pretty simple story too. Its not like you have to be a gigabrain to pull it off. The cast in this movie simply had no chemistry. Its funny because the only time I felt any chemistry going on was between Kora and Charlie Hunham’s character (forget his name) then he ends up betraying them like 10 minutes later.
Even visually it's mucky during night scenes
The lens flares in this movie will give you a migraine or a seizure.@@KalomikaArts
To me it felt like a run of the mill JRPG. The main character went from place to place adding people to her party, then went to fight the final boss. The end. Cya in act 2.
I don't normally like Alex's takes but, "unsolicited dick pick" to sci-fi is one of the funniest descriptions of a movie I've ever heard.
He's often, if not always right
He's a harsh critic, but honest with his feelings
kora in the first 10 minutes : "Love was beaten out of me. I was taught love was weakness. I can't give or receive love"
kora later : "We were encouraged to find a lover as partner. We would fight for each other"
She contradicted herself
After that I couldn't take any dialogue seriously. It's pure garbage
yeah or how she says she lived in privilege, but then continues to whine about how bad her life was being sent from war to war.
Oh, I forgot about that...
A lover isn't the same as being in love. A one night stand is a lover as is a friend with benefits. That's why she said lover, not partner.
@@DS9TREKShe uses "lover" because it is a reference to a supposed practice within the ancient Theban army, of using a 150 pairs of Lovers. The idea in both the Theban army and the movie, is that you are likely to fight harder alongside someone you love. Not something you would do for a one night stand.
I think you misunderstood her point, she makes it clear what she meant when she talks about her past. The point is love is a trauma for her.
Does anyone know why the Imperium would require sustenance from a town of like 100 people? It's a very strange plot point that I just can't make sense of. It really makes the universe feel small.
I mean, the betrayers, tyranids, necrons and eldars are really testing their resources. That or the movie doesn't make sense
There are plausible reasons but I don’t think anything in the movie itself would point to them.
@@jayhartRIC True. I really feel like the story would have greatly benefitted if it was presented as a TV series.
I went on the website and it basically gave the basically the first explanation I cane up with. Basically the Motherworld is low on resources so they have to take resources from other worlds.
@@jayhartRICmind you they were offering triple market value. It’s not that they are just taking. My guess is they had provisions but they can’t return until mission accomplished. So they need to restock while deployed. A regular villain trope would just have them take it all without payment.
You guys need get on Blue Eye Samurai, outstanding show in every way. Visuals, characters development, interesting premise, great villains. 10/10.
Man it’s been slept on!!!!!! I loved all of it
It was, but this is way underrated
All true..but the premise is a little too racist for me. The main character's motivation is basically to kill 3 innocent folks to get at one...still innocent person who jus happened to be her father...i just find it gross.
Good job for finding a way to make a positive comment on a Rebel Moon review video.
None of them were innocent lol, it’s pointed out time and time again that they’re all murderers and rapists.
With each new Snyder movie it becomes more apparent that the success of 300 was more to do with Frank Miller being producer than Snyder being director. My money is on Miller hand holding Snyder through most of the movie, or at least heavy creative input.
I cannot wait for Cavill and Amazon to put out 40K and everyone screams "Look, they're ripping off Rebel Moon!"
No. Don't put that out there. Geezus. Henry has taken on the massive responsibility. I'm terrified what will see the light of day enough.
@@myflatlineconstruct Henry, who's spent his career doing terrible projects, is not magically going to put out the next prestige television smash hit. Just saying. Keep your expectations low.
@@hihihi1q23 Now that you mention it. I really like Henry Cavill as a person, I think he's a really cool guy. But I don't remember ever seeing him in a good role. And that's a sad thought. He's real personality is closer to Superman than what we got in Snyder's movies
@@hihihi1q23 hard disagree, he hasnt been in the best movies but we have only really seen him as an actor, a pawn in the directors game. Now he will be helming a cinematic universe. We cant really use his acting resume to assume how this will go since there is not that much in common. Like being a bad airhost(ess) is going to have little effect on your ability to fly a plane, despite the closeness of those jobs.
@@kayenat10I think he nailed his role as The Witcher, it’s just everything around him just became terrible as time went on.
I appreciate Joe dressing up like Cap'n Crunch for this one.
The guy randomly wearing a dress shirt and tie in a space opera was the final piece of my belief being un-suspended.
I think its hilarious Korra tells them exactly what the imperium would do to them all if they try to trade with them, then the townsfolk are shocked it happens after they dismissed her advice instantly because one guy thought he could make money 😂
Fun Fact: Rotten Tomatoes users started voting on the film 1 week before release. They never saw the film. They already got it to 70% before it was available to watch 😂

@@ANTIStraussian One day, Netflix is gonna hired Snyder to make a Cyberpunk 2077 movie and we will see the real Unification War.
The movie had a limited theater release like a week before it came to Netlfix.
@@ImCptnAwesome And because it's listed as Streaming, anyone was able to put up a review. Already saw everything on Campea
@fulcrum6760 what's Cyberpunk gotta do with this movie? Might as well have said No Man's Sky or Battlefied 4 or Skyrim and it would make as much sense
“World borrowing.” Yeah that was the perfect way to explain this
I like Alex cuz even though he's a fan of something, he doesn't go easy on it like Joe does.
He’s an angry pissy fruitcake 😂😂😂 the movie ain’t that good but no way it’s a 3….
Yeah, but he dont like you. He hates everything
From time to time but his role is to be a hater and in this episode he went too far. Just straight up contradicting himself to be a downer. This movie was original? WTF is in 2023? everything we know and love borrows from past stories.
Joe doesn't go easy on it, it's just Alex overexaggerating and you agreeing with him
@@liquiddude9855 You need to watch their reviews of good movies, man. When he likes something, he's all in.
I mentioned this in another review of this movie: I hope the team making 40k TV/Movie for Amazon product by Henry Cavill will check this movie and say to all the production members and writers "This is exactly what we need to avoid when making 40k".
Yeah snyder really just watered down the imperium aesthetic and called it a day, didnt even bother to change the name lmao
Star Wars? It felt more like a softer version of 40k. Just the way the "Motherworld" is predicted. The slain king being some kind of overarching ruler, just like the emperor of mankind. Same with the way the soldiers and weapon looked like. Also the commisar looking admiral, the red robed dudes with the holy books following the admiral felt like tech priests and the music was also 40k-ish
Yeah totally 40K vibe!
The Robot section of their military was even called Mechanus Militarium, might as well have been named Adeptus Mechanicus. They even had Tech Priest looking dudes. Even if you ignore the terrible writing and plot, he just straight up stole designs from other IPs for his visuals. Like the Rebel's look like Mad Max extras, the bodyguard even looked like she's cosplaying Furiosa.
Yep, that was the feeling I was getting, trying to do 40k without being able to use the IP
People forget Star Wars started as a Flash Gordon wannabe. It’s not impossible for this kind of movie to be done well. The editing needs to be better
@@supermelonbread Well the movie did need to be cut to meet Netflix's PG requirement
Whoever said that this is “The New Star Wars” first doesn’t deserve to review anything ever
Makes sense to me. Aside from Andor, Star Wars has been shit for years
They meant the Holiday Special..."Whip, stir, whip, stir"
Hack Snyder is a disgrace 😂
@@AGuyCalledHarry Andor was low-key boring, and at least when the first Star Wars movie was released it didn’t receive shit reception unlike Rebel Moon’s first movie right now.
Damn, that guy is now in hiding
Zack Snyder has an amazing ability to make beautiful films you can't remember, care about, like or stay awake to watch to the end 😅
Beautiful? This is easily one of the most ugly movies I've ever seen. The shallow depth of field and odd blur in every single shot was painful to see.
Unless you call grayscale beautiful.
You may be colorblind.
Alex does the best reviews! It’s always to the point and he doesn’t hold back.
i am with Alex 100%. he cannot keep coming with this same old tired excuse. i believed it when it happened the first time, the second time i had empathy for the loss he was dealing with, but what’s going on now? how is it happening again?
Ask netflix
@@venomvsspidey11netflix approached snyder and said “lets do the 2 cuts like you did for DC so it can inflate streaming views”
and zack said “that sounds great, i can release a shitty movie and then when the shitty directors cut comes out everyone will be on their hands and knees praising me because its a fraction better”
What Alex didn't mention is that this time, they literally made the movie then cut it just so they could release a Snyder cut later. It was a decision made by Netflix, you can look it up, each entry in the trilogy is going to have a Snyder's cut and the first one is scheduled for April of next year or something like that. Yes, they actually told him to make a long movie, then butcher it just to cash on the "Snyder Cut" meme.
Regardless of whether it was Netflix or Snyder's decision to create a PG13 version and release a Snyder cut later on, it comes across as doing a patch for a movie, which should not be encouraged in any way. Imagine if this ends up becoming the norm.
@@taigaaisaka6305 this is one reason i dont listen to AJ on stuff that i like or im a fan of,sure its good to laugh on the reviews, but sometimes they overlook minor details that change the whole picture...
You can’t have AngryJoe show without Alex. I need his objective opinion it balances out the dynamic.
Edit: you know I never knew how many narrow minded people there were in the world. Guess I do now.
That does not make sense as joe has been doing this stuff by him self from the start these 2 guys just happen to join randomly. I mean its not called angryalexshow
Objective opinion is an oxymoron. I like Alex a lot but his weird worship on this channel as though he is some infallible deity is beyond strange.
I don't think any opinion is without some bias, Alex's included
@@Maxrepfitgm all I read was googoogaga. Grow up
Yep and Alex is more realistic while Joe tries to be Toxic Positive a lot now. Ever since the She Hulk era Joe has been the same way trying to find the positive in a poo on the floor. Also, Joe just cuts off Alex and OJ when they're talking and also says "We" a lot when expressing his opinion or review. So I also think a lot of us just have negative feelings towards Joe because of the way he has become.
"He wanted to be Frank Herbert, but he ended up Brian Herbert"
Bruh... Alex stealing the show.
The thing with Rebel moon is that that the introduction of the characters that join the Kora as the movies progresses isnt done organically but rather its almost like each new party member has this small segment specifically dedicated to him or her after which they kinda disappear into the background as the movie is too busy introducing even more party members for us. Also why does the film ditch the robot after the start. That robot was probably the best part of the whole movie for me. I think Kora could have just teamed up with that robot and maybe the potential love interest from the village along with the young soldier. For example what was the point of having that general in the party since he doesnt really contribute anything else to the party than an extra person who can use a gun or the guy who is really a prince? Also where did the sister of Commander Bloodmoon vanish in the end?
Fr. Imagine getting anthony hopkins on your shitty film then barely using him at all
I think we gave Zach Snyder enough chances. You literally released a film that should have been R to only promise the original version a few months later? How pretentious can you be?
He claims that Netflix wanted this pg13 version first but who knows if that’s true
I don't think the intentions were pretentious; it seems like it was done to compromise between what Snyder wanted and what Netflix wanted. Which is fair enough. But to an outside audience it's a bizarre decision.
@@octogigasJust make a 2 hour film... every other director has done it before.
Its never Snyders fault, its his way of making a stupid Snyders cut.
idk why there needs to be a director’s cut for a film that won’t see a wide theatrical or home video release. it’s not like Netflix didn’t give him carte blanche to create his own entire scifi cinematic universe
It should of been a tv series spaced out over a whole season so you have more time to develop and care about the characters.
There was probably a budget limit and the show would not cut it. I think as a show this wouldn't live up to it. You need a good writer to keep the audience engaged when nothing is happening. I'll be honest that even as a movie with good effects, I found the plot a little dumb. It's just not believable. I've only watched 30 minutes, maybe might conclusion might change
Snyder would likely spend 5 minutes setting up themes - get distracted by having a fight scene - abandon all themes. It’d be the same shit
That was absolutely what I was thinking. If it were stretched out a bit for the characters and story to be fleshed out and left to stew a bit, this would have been pretty decent. It just felt rushed and convoluted.
there is nothing to develop or care about these characters tho
Snyder's attention doesn't last that long.
we can fly our ships lightyears and lightyears that require the energy of an entire solar system just to make one jump, but we need you to grown our wheat; we haven't figured that part out
The Seven Samurai in space was already done in Roger Corman’s 1980 film Battle Beyond The Stars. Despite its faults in that film I knew why every warrior joined the cause, can’t say that about any of the recruits in Rebel Moon.
But prince tarak was so mysterious and cool, who care about the motivations that drive characters' actions? Thats not what movies are about! Theyre about slow motion and uhhh, ummm, more slow motion!!
Couldn’t stop thinking about Rick and Morty. Everybody was like “You son of a b****h, Im in!” 😄

Kurosawa was a legendary director. Maybe you guys should occasionally do a classic film review? There are so many classic masterpieces that looking back at some would be fun as it helps provide full context for the knock offs like Rebel Moon.

I agree with a lot of what y'all said in this. Most, if not all, characters felt 1 dimensional and I walked away feeling like a lot of character moments were cut out of this film. For example, they make a big deal about the rebel leader dying, but shit, I've only known him for 5 minutes and the most I've seen him do is give some lukewarm speech to his troops! I don't care about his sacrifice whatsoever! It feels like half of this movie was cut out. Even if I did just turn my brain off, I think this movie would be hard to enjoy.
Don't listen to the idiots that say you're not allowed to critique thing. I don't agree with all your takes, and sometimes I think you go a bit far, but you always have solid reasons for your opinions and I can always respect your view. Never stop being you Angry Joe, its a big reason you're one of my favorite creators!
I found this film very entertaining, and am interested to see where it goes in part 2 and beyond if Snyder gets a green-light for more (though I agree it was a very 40k like setting).
That said… wow… the movie forgot to actually give us character development (or even background and personality) for about 1/2 the cast. Can you tell me anything about the sword woman (which the villain tells us is seeking vengeance for dead kids apparently), the prince of a fallen kingdom (again, the villain tells us that in a single line?) and the general (he’s a great tactician… apparently)? Lol. We basically only know something about the lead girl and the farmer, that’s it, and most of their development happens in the village before they go off searching for their ragtag band of people to help the village.
Overall, I really enjoyed it, but man… take the 15 minutes spent on sword lady fighting the spider girl and use that to do some character development it would have been a lot better.
Also, this was a streaming film. Why is there a “Snyder Cut”?! Why couldn’t they just just release a longer film with the cut things now?!
I agree this movie had me captivated , i was never bored
It’s almost like they’re making bad films on purpose now. Wtf is actually happening to film recently?
Netflix is
Zack Snyder
Filmento, made the point better than I can put into words - he pointed out that - during his review of Army of The Dead - Zack breaks down a scene that he describes as “The obligatory heist planning scene” and Filmento pointed out your script shouldn’t have an “obligatory” anything. Snyder essentially strides to meet these cliches and plot points - but does nothing new with them 🤷🏾♂️ that’s the best answer I can give : They’re not striving to make something original.
Streaming service desperate for content throwing millions at well known but second rate directors with no writing talent or restraint so they can self-indulge.
Zack literally stated he makes films he would watch. Films he likes. I love a few of his films but studio interference is still needed in some ways to keep the creator from going "too wild".
I love Alex so much haha. Also, those 6 layers of watermarks are getting out of control ! This movie felt like a fan-made recap of a season of 8 to 10 hours of episodes I missed 😂...
I'm sorry that you're so miserable.
This has to be most accurate description of the movie i have read. 😂
I love stupid people complaining about copyright protections, cause they're too dumb to know what YT creators have to deal with lol.
I think the main problem with this movie was the people's hype. Most people and Snyder fans were expecting "The best syfy movie of all time" or something. And besides that the film was just a "decent" or good enough syfy adventure
Snyder didn’t watch Seven Samurai... he saw A Bug's Life and thought he could do something with that storyline, but he can't.
Tarak is basically Anakin winning his freedom through a bet...
By taming Buckbeak from Harry Potter.
Haven't seen anyone mention the alien using a human to speak via tentacles is pretty much a miniature colorful cutesy version of the "Independence Day" alien using the Data actor to speak. Alone it would be a fun lil scene but combined with so many other references its just a collage of scenes I've seen before.
it reminded me of naked lunch lol
@@usamahendrix838 "Rebel Moon" the film for when you're in the mood to reminisce about much better films! Lol
Rumor has it part two will feature a Kuato cameo!
Open your mind...
I can't wait!
It was weird that they had the team with kora, the robot and kid that turned “good” in the beginning but then ditched it.
Anyone notice how Kora was gathering a group of ethnically diverse people... but half of them belonged to sterotypes connected to their skin color? The movie was somehow being racist while trying to be diverse.
I couldn't remember any names of the "crew" other than Kora and Titus
Dont mess with Alex...shot fired ...ur so right
He's a fkin man-child 😂
I liked 3 things 1 - The energy weapons effect is cool, where it splashes molten stuff around when it hits. 2 - Hopkins Bot 3 - The one scene where the guy does the 300 slo-mo back arched jump with a spear, thrusts it through the gunner cockpit and the gunner dodges and shoots him. That made me laugh.
EVERYTHING else was shit.
Fan: George Lucas wrote some pretty terrible dialog.
Snyder: Hold my Berellian space beer...
Extra props for making your point concerning audience members that critizise you for being authentic critics. The latter is the exact reason why I keep coming back to your channel 💛 (merry Christmas BTW)
It appears Hollywood has promoted supporting actors to leading roles. I can't remember a time in movies/tv where leads lack any trace of charisma/presence.
A lot of slowmo action going on in this movie even the unnecessary dropping of the seeds in the early parts of the film lol 😂
You know it's bad when the best character is the robot narrator. lol.
I mean, it IS Anthony Hopkins...
The robot they forgot about for half the movie?
Like the young solider who stops the men from raping the girl just leaves the movie too?
Love you guys and your reviews are the best because you guys give reasons why you don't like it or that you do and I respect you guys so much for it even if I don't agree with you all thr time but I do have to say I agree with Alex the most out of the 3 lol.
I was skipping these reviews with the intention of watching the movie first.
Turns out i had finished watching the movie a week earlier and completely forgot the ending.
daaaamn Alex went hard on Snyder 😅
He's not wrong though.
@@chaddubois8164 maybe, the only snyder movie I watched was Suckerpunch back when it released but i dont remember much
i like the part where kora said "its slow-mo time"
I gave Rebel Moon an impromptu shot last night, and I write this before watching this review. I'm assuming our opinions will line up, but I want to keep my thoughts unadulterated before hearing what you guys think. I kept an active mind from start to finish. I thought the opening was somewhat decent; I felt invested for about 20 minutes or so. I quite liked Corey Stoll's character, Sindri, and I found the mechanical robot knight, Jimmy, to be intriguing. But sadly, Sindri died early on. Jimmy went running. And then I saw the first fight with the Kora protagonist and the Imperium soldiers. It was atrocious-like watching a bad WWE bout where the heel is clearly letting his opponent win, trying to "sell it." The fight scenes looked slow and awkwardly strung together. And the aim of these "elite" soldiers was worse than Star Wars stormtroopers. It was laughable in that later scene with Captain Bloodaxe or whatever his name was-a handful of soldiers missing him point blank as he slowly scurries up the stairs. In general, it lacked its own identity. More often than not, I thought, "huh, this reminds me of Dune," "huh, this reminds me of The Chronicles of Riddick" (the Imperium, as some of the aesthetics reminded me very much of the Necromongers), "huh, those swords look just like lightsabers," "huh, that scene where jungle boy is trying to wrangle and break in the Griffin from The Witcher oddly reminds me of Avatar," "huh, that spider lady looks just like the Borg Queen." Very little felt fresh. Most of it was "I've seen this before, and it's not breaking any new ground." I didn't feel attached to any of Kora's fellowship chums; they were all forgettable due to the poor pacing. For me, the most interesting characters either died early or ran off into the field playing robot savage.
Nobody mentions the fact no matter how many people these guys recruit, the dreadnaught can destroy the village from space! The story is less than paper thin...
The best part of Rebel Moon was when I deleted it 3/4 of the way thru and forced myself to finish Candy Cane Lane.
I'm sure Netflix don't care considering it's number 1 worldwide 🤣😂🤣
He's a "master tactician" that allowed his army walk into an obvious trap.
Napoleon was a master tactican too, and what happened to him? He walked into the Duke of Wellington's trap at Waterloo.
Grow up.
Screenwriter writing a prompt in ChatGPT: “write me a Star Wars (but not Star Wars) film. Combine two major themes of the original Star Wars for a title. Movie needs to adhere to DEI principles above all even if it doesn’t make sense and one must suspend all belief. Also, add themes from Gladiator in it.”
So is it a bit like the movie Antz where crickets try to make ants work and store food for them for the winter but the ants fight back?
Yes.
Overuse of slow motion, flashbacks, and infodumps hurts the story. The story doesn't give enough time to the main cast of warriors. The villains are cartoonishly evil. I could keep going all day. One good thing I will say is that the alien races looked pretty cool. That's about it.
Alex is on fire in this vid
Yeah. Calling anyone who doesn't agree with him an idiot was so 🔥🔥. Lmao. The dude is a literal man-child.
Respect to Alex for calling out Snyder on his plagiarism and terrible story writing. Him ripping on the Snyder-boys was the cherry on top 😂
There is noo way this was better that Aquaman 2. That movie was over criticized. To me it was enjoyable
Alex's analogy with the message is the most accurate I've ever heard! :D
Wowza! Alex mentioned 13 Assassins in the last few seconds of this review, and that is one of the best Takashi Miike’s movies. Alex just levels up!
So as a big Seven Samurai and Magnificent Seven fan, something that people may not realize...you cant easily watch those movies anymore. When critics talk about those films and their influences they seem to not realize the current 18 year old movie watcher has never seen or heard of those movies before. There is a growing gap of movie language occurring so to an 18 year old rebel moon feels fresh and original instead of the slapped together mess it is. I actually met someone who claimed they were a scifi fan recently who said "What's Alien?" Its getting ugly out there.
As a 21 year old I have to disagree. I think media literacy is strongly linked to developing a strong sense of internal logic and reasoning in general, and i believe we shouldn't just let this decline go on and do nothing. If you can get duped into thinking this was a good movie you can probable get duped into thinking that the latest politician gives a fuck about you, because both are roughly equally full of shit.
@@thekillerprawn then tell me as of today which major streaming service carries seven samurai? And how many people your age have seen it. I'll wait while you start to cook some crow to eat
The fact that Rebel Moon has a 70%+ audience score says a lot about how starved people are for good entertainment. A person dying of hunger will think an undercooked rat is the best thing they've ever tasted.
Um that's not a bad thing
I think the only good movie Zack has done is Watchmen, and that might be because someone else made that story. So he's good with visuals but really needs a good writer backing him up like JJ Abrams does.
How do you feel about his 300 movie?
@Godzolfman to say the truth I haven't seen it but the trailers never impressed me. It has always seemed way too much style over substance but to be fair I know I know I can't say I have the full context. That's just my initial impressions.
He is a director as long as it’s already written!
I actually thought Sucker Punch was one his better movies personally.
hated sucker punch but liked his dawn of the dead. which was written by James Gunn💀
Appreciate the way you managed the review this time Joe
I appreciate that!
@@AngryJoeShowIt's fine if you guys hate the movie, but why make fun of the positive reviews and take shots at people that liked it? People should be allowed to like it just like you guys should be allowed to not like it.
@@JediKnightoftheSnyderCultBecause some people lie on purpose, like when they get paid to write a good review on an objectively bad movie in pretty much every way.
@@JediKnightoftheSnyderCulti think that people liking the movie largely signifies an ever worsening decline in media literacy, which is good for no one. Though i can see your point that making fun isnt the best way to adress this issue
I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it either. Just wanted to say I appreciated you guys commenting on better movies to watch. If a movie is bad, I like when ppl mention better alternatives, so thumbs up. 👍
I actually liked it but not loved it. Some people only see the negatives
Did anyone notice the scene where before the revolution general died during the final big fight his soldier was shooting her gun and didnt even have her finger on the trigger then when it switched to her again after her finger was on the trigger?
Aj I love how you take the viewers feedback and trying to implement changes to help the reviews and always love your commentary. Alex on point always, definitely a fan favorite. Oj you need to speak more also always love you funny inputs.
Keep doing your thing guys, you scale makes perfect sense.
