1st Half of Season - 8/10, Goggins God Tier, Nolan kills it, Great Intro & Pacing, Action & Writing, Fascinating Character Setups
2nd Half of Season - 6/10, Goggins God Tier, Tone falters a bit, Rushed Ending, Weak Romance, Hilarious Brotherhood vs NCR "Battle", Maximus Underdeveloped
Season 1 Overall Rating - 7/10 Really Great Adaptation, Better than Halo, less than TLOU Season1, Looking Forward to Season 2!
It certainly always feels good to have the EXACT same opinion as my audience on things, it doesn't always work out that way! I don't feel a 7/10 for Fallout Season 1 is all that awful of us. We are pretty hard on this stuff, we gave a 2/10 to Twisted Metal S1 which yall LOVED! 🤪
But much love guys! Thank you for keeping it civil so far in comments!! (minus a few of you)
Spoilers 💀
Edit: this pinned comment spoils the 52 minute CZcams video. I don't care about spoilers for the show. I just want to watch the full video without seeing a TLDW pinned comment by angry joe.
Too many low IQ people can't realize that this pinned comment is spoiling the 50 minute video joe made and think I'm talking about spoilers for the tv show.
TLOU is way worse than this.
@@ThriceGr8why are you here?
Thanks Joe but another adaptation needs our help 😂
I agree with most of this, but Fallout was better than The Last of Us
I actually liked this more then the last of us
Much better.
@@bentucker2301 don’t get me wrong there was stuff that missed in fallout and they could have done better. And tbf I don’t know the lore super well. But I wouldn’t give it that low a score. Plus it’s a unique story versus adaptation

The last of us was straight trash. Only normies liked it.
Never disagreed so much with this show opnion. I loved the finale and the later episodes.
Its getting annoying how they are so critical and negative about everything
Right ?
They give precise reasoning behind heir opinions and you’re saying they’re just negative??? Bruh
They consciously destroyed New Vegas as shown in the end credits
@@lilwisp4974I can understand their tone complaints but their complaints that the story didn't completely wrapped in the first season is kind of whining. It seems to me contrary to what Joe and guys think that they always planning wrapping up the story in season 2; that any sense they got of rushing the story last episode has less to do with the pace but more to do with their dislikes of hanging story threads between seasons. I can also agree that they didn't show enough of the action during the battle between the NCR and the brotherhood.
The code that was put in at the last episode (101097) was the release date of the first fallout game on October 10, 1997
I was wondering if that ment something.
Nice catch
Nice
I thought to myself “it’s a reference to FO3s starting vault, Bethesdas first Fallout game, and the 97 references the release date.” But maybe I had that backward and 101 in three was referencing the release date.
All the three main characters were ALL tracking the package so it seems reasonable that they would keep running into each other.
How did the ghoul cowboy no exactly where to go?
@@somebodyelseathome dog meat was tracking for him.
It still felt quite contrived how they always ended up at the exact same spot at the exact same time. California is a big place and there's a lot of ways to get from point A to point B.
@amysteriousviewer3772 but if they are literally all using a tracker to find it, it would make sense they all follow pretty much the same path
Betting on a new season lol it already is renewed for a second season 😅
Vault-Tec dropping the bombs HAS always been a theory in the Fallout lore. This STILL doesn’t mean 100 percent that Vault-Tec dropped the bombs. It means that they were willing to do horrible things, to further their goals. We probably won’t know for sure until they find The Ghoul’s wife.
I had the impression that his wife is on vault 31.
The idea of Vault-Tec being behind the bombs was originally a plot for the canceled Fallout movie
It really parallels our reality right now with how the military industrial complex pulls strings in our governments.
Exactly. I think it was done to show just how ruthless the corporations are. Nothing has been confirmed yet so this isn't lore change.
There is a vault-tec logo on the nuke in megaton.
I think the last 4 episodes made the vault 33-32-31 parts way more interesting i think overall it was better than the first 4.
I half expect that Cooper's wife and daughter will be suspended in cryo-sleep in Vault 31.
At first I wasn't interested in what was happening back in the vaults but as the story progressed I did enjoy seeing Lucy's brother discover the hidden secret and thought the vault experiment was neat
Yeah maybe it's just because I'm a lore nerd but I found the second half of the season WAY more fun and compelling
@@Spongebrain97 I honestly thought I would hate Norm, it's your typical teenage child but quickly ended up as a intriguing person.
unravelling the mystery with him and learning the vaults history was fun. It's part of why Fallout is interesting, as you go deper into the vault you discover the horror of the experiments.
Yeah agreed. The show became more interesting overall by the end of the season.
There was a scene of her sticking the tracker in the heads nose by the campfire.
16 times the backlash

This is probably the most divisive review i’ve seen on this channel between the audience and the critics.

@@konstantinkrastev4478 idk what you mean by that
Considering how much they missed and things like "they didn't show us putting in a tracker" when they did... I have to believe these people were not paying attention. And ridiculous of Alex to claim that he gives anything a fair chance.
16:53 “She has a tracker, I think it was a single line… it wasn’t showed (shown)”
There was a 2 cut shot literally showing her shoving the tracker up the nostrils of the head that was a pip boy attachment moments after she cut it off.
Pisses me off so much they are getting mad over something they fucking missed, pay attention to the show if you're gonna nit pick everything
They miss stuff like that all the time in almost everything they review. It always amazes me that all 3 of them seem to miss the same thing. It feels like every review I've watched, they complain about something not being shown that was clearly shown.
And I thought me having ADHD would make me not pay attention to the little things, but amaze me these guy do lol feels better.
Never seen a comment sections opinion so different from the actual video before 😂
It's the twisted metal review all over again lol
I didn't watch twisted metal but this review of the second part of fallout makes me actually want to check it out lol.
eh, its hard to hear his thought on the show when you never played the original Fallout nor the New Vegas game to actually fully grasp the references but also inconsistency in the show. Oh yeah, remember that time he promised to review Fallout New Vegas back then in 2010? LMAO I'm sure he don't even know who mr. robert house is nor shady sands backstory..
That's good, since this show is at least entertaining and has varied opinions on each episode.
These 3 are not film critics they are room readers, they saw a complaint thread on reddit and took it as the general opinion of the show, when they realise they are going against the POPULAR opinion they will make up some excuse to have a " re watch " and give it a much better rating, they have done this kinda thing before.
Lucy not trusting Max is character development because, by the time they meet again she's been through so much that she's now less optimistic and trusting of strangers.
Yeah but they dont actually understand what chatacter development means.
Yes and I could pick apart most of what they said
Yeah, but she does go back to trusting in just a couple scenes. She wanted to trust the strangers at the bridge and believe they wouldn’t harm them.
that's because she believes she can show her hand and they'll be open with theirs, she's naive
She wouldn't trust them face to face
@@MrDe4dGuy34
@@MrDe4dGuy34 This is consistent with her character. Leaving Maximus isn't nearly the same to her as shooting some people on a bridge. Whole "golden rule" and all that.
And she doesn't trust blind that time, she tries to make a compromise where they all put their hands up and walk by. Trusting them not to harm her and Maximus would've been if she just chose to walk across.
The last of us was a really safe adaption because the game is already like a tv show. This actually pushed the Fallout world forward and it was awesome
Perfectly said
Yes exactly, this video review didn't make any sense like a 6/10 show like huh did we watch the same show
The Last of Us is to Woke!!! I did not like that show.
@solidstudd22 it's as woke as the games are, you are just a bigot.
yea arguably TLOU was conveniently adapted. being a story driven linear game with an already established characters that were cinematically presented, and being gameplay-wise to sail the story that cutting the gameplay turns it into a great interactive-film.
I think this is what happens when you binge Watch 8 episodes of something. You just get burnt out.
I dont think they watched the same show as the rest of us.
They probably don’t even know all of the lore behind it. Negative reviews get views. They’re like the only people being negative about it
Yea watching this review was a major let down. They failed to cover a bunch of the things in the show that in my opinion made it badass. At least the show itself was great tho...

The thing that frustrated me the most is Max not just going "yea, Knight Titus got fkd up by a bear. So I took his power armor and am completing the mission." The way that scene was written was infuriating.
Brotherhood of steel is a really strict cult any squire that uses a knights armor essentially four fits there life, it's essentially treason
Maximus and his storyline is definitely the weakest part of the show. He did say he died running like a coward
Maximus is a bad character, he has no emotion, he’s only alive because he’s lucky, and he’s not funny. Thaddeus is a way better character.
I'm convinced Joe does not watch the shows that he reviews. IT IS SHOWN WHEN Gussy puts the tracker on the head in the nose. How much better you like the show to show you - do a 1h episode of it?
Gussy?
@@TimmySquibs Goosey, that's what Chris Parnells Vault 4 Overseer character calls Lucy.
Yea we all got that, but when you put tracker in nose on head, head goes off in another direction, but she still finds bro, on multiple occasions, it gets a little hamfisted
I’m convinced they aren’t fully paying attention when watching these shows because they had an entire scene showing Lucy implant the tracker in the head that was like a minute and a half long. But in this review they claim there was no scene showing the tracker. I don’t understand how they could’ve missed that scene unless they were playing on their phones or some bullshit like that
I wouldn't doubt that last part of the comment at all. Lol
@@davidm.schreckii1426 Yeah I have friends that do that when we watch shows or movies, then ask me what happened because they were on their phones. Shit drives me up the wall.
Not only that, but I'm pretty sure Lucy mentions implanting the tracker again at some point. I'm watching this show with my 70 year old dad who has never played a video game in his life and he understands whats going on better than these 3
But the head was no longer there. Thaddeus took it hours ago, so Lucy's tracker shouldn't have guided her to Maximus.

I see why they got divorced. Hard to stay married to someone thats actively trying to kill the world.

They got divorced?
@@tigertank06It's literally mentioned in the first 10 minutes of the show.
@@tigertank06 The two blokes say "Why's Coop doing birthday parties?" "Why'd you think? Damn alimony" or something like that.
I wish they would of tied up the loose end of where The Goggins and his daughter on horseback went when the bombs were dropping and how they got separated. Because early on I was assuming that he just was jaded from surviving the nukes and maybe his daughter didn’t but if the daughter and his wife is still alive then what the hell happened…and why would his wife green light the bombs before the daughter being in safety first?
Why didn't the Knights use the helmet mounted flashlights? Ghoul cuts out the lights and they never powered the helmet lights.
That's actually a good point to be fair just finished the last episode and came here, I really enjoyed it, but I agree they still could have had ghoul whooping ass but cut the lights have them turn their lights on and look around frantically and you can still have him kill them or whatever they wanted to do
that bugged me big time, like would have been cool for him to shoot their head lamps before shooting the lights out.

@@LocDocStrange Right?!?
You have a point there.
If Goggin's character knew about the flaw with the armor, WTF did he not exploit it in the fight with Maximus?
He might have just remembered…in a flashback that occurred after that fight, he talks a with the vault tec guy about how a flaw in the welding got his buddies killed. Not a perfect answer but it’s not too much of a plot hole either. Maybe he made some special ammunition 🤷♂️
He was messing around a lot. He was not in as much danger as he was compared to dealing with team to squad numbers in a condense space. Pretty much a wild card like a anti villain/villain. You never know when hes gonna let loose. Spare someone or mess with his prey.
Multiple lines specifically talk about the tempered lining, that’s why.
Someone said it’s bc he has tempered lining in the armor which Maximus asks Titus about on the flight to the wilds before that scene.

How did the Overseer of Vault 33 get Vault 32 cleaned up without people knowing about what had happened there? Did she have mindless robots that could do all the work without them getting any the wiser? I realize they will probably answer some questions in Season 2 like who opened the doors so the surface dwellers could come in and pose as Vault 32 inhabitants. Why didn't Hank McLean recognize Moldaver when she shows up as the Overseer of Vault 32? Stuff like that. Also, it is funny that Maximus thought he was Indiana Jones by hiding in that refrigerator when Shady Sands was nuked. I don't think he (or Indy) would have either survived though.
You can get hit with a nuke and survive. Happens all time. You take a lot of damage and radiation, but if you've got stimpaks and radaway, you're fine. So, you can survive even better if you take cover (in a fridge, for instance).
Nobody let the raiders into Vault 32. The raiders used Rose's Pipboy. Rose had left Vault 33 and gone to live with Maldovar in Shady Sands, then became a ghoul when Hank nuked it. Maldovar just took her Pipboy and opened 32.
Why neither Hank, Betty, nor Steph didn't comment on not recognising a single person from Vault 32 during the wedding is just weird. You'd think they'd be familiar with everyone in both vaults and twig sommat was up.
I don't know how Betty got Vault 32 cleaned up so fast either. Maybe Steph helped? But still, seems a stretch. Bud needed Norman to move a flipping broom out of his way, but could clean 32 all by himself? Hmm. Maybe we'll find out more in season 2 on that.
technically its never confirmed who dropped the bombs.... all you know is that certain parties are considering doing it and are morally ok with it.
You literally see Lucy put the damn tracker up the heads nose and says "snug as a bug" and even chooses the icon to be vault boy's head on her pip boy. Clearly not paying attention.

18:12 Lucy Litteraly says everyone she as met has tried to kill her... she literally just escaped from having her organs harvested, it makes sense that she isn't has naive as when she started her journey
She flipped on a dime though. Naive and optimistic one second, one organ harvesting attempt later - she's tough as nails. It was too quick, with no nuance. And to be honest, the super market encounter didn't feel all that more harrowing than anything else she had had to deal with up to that point.
@@Cimlitei’m genuinely curious by the “she’s tough as nails” how so? because she shot a few rad roaches?

But other than that she also takes charge for the first time, outright tells the Ghoul what's going to happen, saves him and wanders off. It's clearly meant to be a turning point for the character. Doesn't feel earned though as she essentially stumbles her way through the whole encounter inside, and things just work out by chance. It's very weirdly written imo.
@@Cimlitenaive and tough aren’t mutually exclusive traits. Before the organ harvesting attempt she had already bitten off the Ghoul’s finger, she didn’t magically become tough after the supermarket, she already was. If these things don’t change how one approaches other people then idk what does. I didn't notice any dips in quality at all in the second half. The season was consistently great from start to finish. And I don't know how you can say there was no character development when both Lucy and Maximus change quite a bit throughout the season.
And the Ghoul too. So much development it's crazy to say there is none.

I think it'd be super interesting if as the show went on, they have Lucy and the Ghoul basically flip personality wise. Where the Ghoul becomes kinder and more understanding (maybe as he learns more about what happened to his family), but Lucy becomes more jaded and violent as she spends more time on the surface.

Bro, the show only got better as it went along. I'm VERY surprised the guys were disappointed with the ending episodes. I was fucking glued to my screen during that last episode. I usually agree with Joe and the others on many of their reviews, not this one apparently. This is the best game adaptation I have seen in a long time.
Agreed. The later half of the season didn't have Jonathan Nolan directing but I think it all worked. Nolan came in and directed the set up episodes (which I think are the hardest to make interesting) then the other directors, who are also very competent, came in and had the mystery threads in their episodes. I think that made those directors jobs much easier.
I hated West World after awhile because I thought they withheld too much information inorder to maintain a mystery for an artificially long amount of time. But I think the revelation in Fallout was perfectly told. At no point did I feel like tmthey mishandled the pacing of their mystery.

Last comment I swear 😅 17:23. “These convenience type things are ruining these scenes. Because it breaks my suspension of disbelief.” I get what you’re saying. But when I saw this scene, It really reminded me of playing fallout and how I would bump into something or someone like that. Seemingly in the right place at the right time to start a new quest. I really didn’t see this as a flaw at all. In fact tv shows do this all the time, as I’m sure they know. But this is the one place where I think it works.
I personally think that if vault tec had dropped the bombs, why would Cooper Howard and his daughter be away from their vault. I would think that his wife would make sure they can get close, especially the daughter. For me that storyline just creates a bit of world building in that there were many different people who wanted the bombs to drop and we will never actually know who launched the nukes first.
Exactly, just because they planned on doing it doesn't mean they were successful. Especially as you put it, Coop's wife going to such great lengths to ensure their daughter makes it to one of the 'good' vaults. As pre-show Fallout lore stands, the Chinese are supposed to have possibly been the ones to drop the bomb, so it is likely they caught Vault-Tec by surprise with very little warning time.
The fact that Coop's looking for his wife and daughter means that there's a possibility they were still able to make it despite the pre-emptive nuke plan gone awry. Heck, for all we know, the Chinese could've had spies who revealed the Vault-Tec plan and decided to begin it themselves.
As a fan of Fallout this is personally my favorite video game adaptation. I am very excited for season 2 and looking forward to where things are going.
I'm more concerned about season 2. They're going to NV, so that increases the chance to fuck it up a LOT.
@@invielofalinor4391 this is true. Hopefully they don’t.
To clarify something, TV show productions are very different from movie productions, we don’t work on episodes sequentially, the production schedule is kind of semi-overlapping. That’s why different episodes have different directors and writers. However episode directors and writers have little influence and control on how the story plays out, “writers or directors of the last few episodes have to resolve fix the whole thing“ simply don’t happen or very very rarely happens. The whole story arc and outlines for each episodes are finished even before they start shooting the first episode. In my experience, the same team worked on the first three episodes is akin to the situation of traditional TV pilot, so the producer can give the final go ahead on full production. Think of episode directors more like Art directors or supervisors on movie productions, and writers are usually just working on details and dialogues. If you don’t like how some colors or shots from some episodes look, or how some actors act from particular episodes then yeah that’s on episode directors. If you don’t like the story of certain episodes and think the “quality” of some storylines are subpar, that’s all on the show runner. It has nothing or very little to do with how many directors worked on the show.
Thank you for explaining this, and hopefully the guys will read it.
Only losers like Fallout.
Show runners and producers are also the people working with composers and such commonly, instead of the directors. Just to add an example of how the director's role is different on shows vs films.

I liled the Vault 4 twist. Throughout the show you're basically trained to think that every Vault is evil, so it was actually refreshibg to see a vault that exaclty as nice as it was presented initially.
Well most Vaults where not evil but "evil". Most of them where overall test Vaults but usualy the inhabitants in most cases never found this out before it was too late or even never. In Vault 4 we saw the People just overthrow Vault Tec and took controll.
Wow, I enjoyed the show a lot more than you guys did! For me, I loved how the show depicted the insanity and sometimes horror of the world, all while embracing the silliness that is characteristic of Fallout. It just felt like Fallout to me. If they had done it differently, I don't think it would have captured that essence.
As for the lore continuity, you have to remember that Fallout's story has never been entirely reliable. So if the dates or details don't add up perfectly, I don't see it as a huge problem. After all, there's no internet or reliable media in the wasteland - just a few radio stations - so the source of information is often just stories from wanderers. And let's face it, that's not the most reliable source! So yeah, take everything in the games and now the show with a grain of salt. History was never clean and always distorted.
