    If you ever have a hockey player that you're trying to teach to carve (stand vertically on the top sheet), this is the exact position that we use when we go full speed and loop behind the goalie net during a skate hard drill for conditioning. The forces are so high during the sharp turn, so much so that you have to hold that exact position and stop skating for a second until the forces drop and you can start moving your legs again. I remember when I learned to carve a ski, this is exactly what my brain figured out to make it easy - and you learn it very young when hockey is all about learning to skate fast (which inevitably leads to having to find that position behind the net to make the turn - otherwise you go straight into the boards)

    So I Really love the way this guy talks about and uses his language I have since skied with A resistance band around my knee area and found that I was pulling much tighter radius I’m really excited about Direction this is taking my Skiing
    I can’t wait to get the book As I definitely call Myself a ski geek thank you so much again loving these videos

    I tried this yesterday, thinking “this isn’t so hard”. Today I feel just about every muscle in my leg, and pretty much wherever I would feel it after skiing. Definitely a keeper exercise!

    That was fantastic! I've suspended myself in the chair for leglifts, but never this. I can't wait to get back to the gym tomorrow to try it. Loving my shirts Deb!

    Thanks Deb for reminding skier getting condition before going on snow. I am also joining a 4 week basic ski training at Whitister starting in late November this winter (2021). It is time for increase strength of my muscles and body fitness too.

    Absolutely excellent, Deb. Thanks for this. You’re correct, CZcams videos are pretty awesome. Growing up in Rossland & skiing daily on Red Mtn (BC) was fantastic. It allowed me to really excel as a skier. Now as I’m aging (60yrs old), it great to see videos of such to help me stay strong. 💪🏼

    Please explain a little bit more about John's theory of turning the femurs into the hip socket.

  • @The_CNB
    @The_CNB Před 2 lety

    I’m confused, because as soon as the athlete puts feet on the ground/skis on the snow, the physics are completely different - with gravity, rotation, deceleration, ground force reaction, + are at play & the neuromuscular patterning is completely different than these movements

      If you want to understand further I suggest John's reading John's manual. Every detail is explained. This is not easy stuff for everyone e to understand yet it is science based. In the videos I have included John's contact info.

    I probably know nothing about sking but I'm not sure why this would be any useful. In my view, you get strong and core development with squats/deadlifts/presses. You develop power with cleans and snatches if you like. And skiing technique only through skiing. This feels like gimmicks to me.

    • @DebArmstrongSkiStrong
      @DebArmstrongSkiStrong  Před 2 lety +3

      I appreciate your perspective however world class skiers will be versed in these movements. As I said, this is a very high level of movement and understanding. Relating to this rests upon much experience. This is not gimiky as you say. The muscle activity required to preform this drill matches the muscle activity of high end ski racing. Appreciate your comment.

      @@DebArmstrongSkiStrong I am a former B team college racer who just turned 50 and am in the best shape of my life. I sent this series of videos to my personal trainer for us to incorporate some of the exercises into our preseason routine. I am plenty strong but have certain weaknesses that can (and upon video inspection likely did) cause high speed crashes last season. I found this to be fascinating and applaud Deb for the whole series! Thank you.

      The power you develop in cleans and snatches depends a ton on form. Especially when you're using them to train for another sport, you maybe be compensating around key weaknesses. This exercise may not train power, but it will make sure you are strong in all of the muscles that could potentially support and stabilize you on skis. That allows you to push yourself in a variety of exercises. I would call this more of a foundational strength exercise which is essential for performing powerful movements like skiing or cleans

    If your hitting on Quantum Mechanics you better find a way to describe mono poles, anti pole, secret weapons against gravity, differential time dilations, Objectifying gravity with superfluidity just for the sake of functionally understanding nature...fun....Einstein didn't like Quantum Mechanics...I prefer General relativity- Local frame of Reference does a good job. Special Relativity- Inertial frame of reference is Einstein's "Happiest Thought" for a very good reason as the functional understanding of nature, It is causality in our dimensionality...fun.... freefalling into turns. from here my words only get bigger and funnier sounding.... and may sound like WWII Nazi esoteric aircraft research notes., maybe they are I don't know much but I know when I make things up some one else probably already took it further.
