    Great tutorial, tear down and assembly was a breeze with this video. I couldn’t get the fan blade off until you indicated that it was a reverse thread. I was having an oil leak that turned out to be a loose screw on the bottom of the crank case. I initially put the piston and crankcase in backwards until I tried to put the fan blade back on and realized my mistake.

    Before a carb is changed, make sure the cheap fuel lines aren't cracked slightly, or in half. The cheap clear Fuel lines just don't last like old US made. They crack and cause a lot of issues you are troubleshooting, and it is only the fuel line causing your headache. Also, the 2 gaskets are different. Pay attention to which of the old goes where/compare shape and pattern to new. Mine began to run like crap. It turned out to be a crack in the fuel line sucking air/leaking fuel.

    Enjoyed the video. My 125 B leaf blower starts fine, then on high motor for about 90 sec. it bogs down. I let off the trigger to catch it before it dies and bring it back up to speed and it immediately dies again, this will repeat. I have changed the air filter, cleaned the tank, changed and gapped the new plug and put on a new carb. It seems that it starts cutting out on high after it gets hot. Gas is marine grade, oil is Stihl. Thank you.

      Does it always restart? The symptoms you describe are most often the coil breaking down when hot or an air leak making it lean out

    Watched the video to see about adjusting the carb....I can't believe they work perfectly just by bolting them in! I got a kit coming today, w/ the special adjustment tool (I guess nothing else works on these)?

    • @Coakleyfixedit207
      @Coakleyfixedit207  Před rokem

      Yes you need a special tool there is about 12 or 13 different ones, and it's illegal for a dealer in the USA to sell them, the new carbs are set to the factory settings for whatever they fit, if everything else with the machine is good they should run fine right out of the box, if anything they may need to be a little richer ( they are adjusted lean to hit epa standards) to richen them up turn the H screw out like a smidgen 1/8th of a turn. The cheap Chinese carbs seem to never run quite as good as oem they will function but just never sound quite right

  • @briananderson2780
    @briananderson2780 Před 3 lety +3

    Great video Ryan! I can tell by the way you move that you are talented and experienced. I am fighting the same thing, but it is more severe in that the fuel lines are shot too. I have never seen a more corroded fuel system! The lead end of the fuel filter corroded and there was junk all in the gas tank and the carb. It was so bad that both butterfly shafts were completely stuck. Since it was going to take a week to get a new carb, I tried to clean up the old one - against my better judgment.... I got it clean, but the diaphragm and reeds were crispy. Sure enough, it wouldn't run right.... I have ordered what I hope to be an OEM kit from Amazon. Few questions:
    1. Have you ever seen the lead end of a fuel filter corrode like that?
    2. I know ethanol free fuel is better, but should the unit be run dry at the end of the season?
    3. Would you agree that the cheap knock off carbs from Amazon should be avoided? I got burned badly...
    4. Do you have a video on tuning a 2 cycle carb? I have trouble telling the difference between starving and loading up, and I've never been sure about the L setting.
    5. Now that I am semi retired, I find myself repairing all sorts of lawn equipment for my friends. I am getting tired of doing it for nothing. but I want to be fair. What is your shop rate?
    Again, thanks for a great vid. I liked and subscribed. Now you are past the bad number of 666 :-)

    • @Coakleyfixedit207
      @Coakleyfixedit207  Před 3 lety

      Yes ethanol will eat anything, ethanol free fuel still needs to be stabilized I run strictly canned gas in all my 2 stroke stuff but keep in mind and I dont use my stuff much, chinese carbs are 50/50 chance they will work also rebuilding a carb is a 50/50 shot. I dont own my own shop I'm employed at one of the largest shops in my state and our shop rate is 75 per hr, but the going rate seems to be between 45-100 per hr

    • @Coakleyfixedit207
      @Coakleyfixedit207  Před 3 lety

      Oh also running dry is NOT the way to go it gives all the seals, diaphragm and rubber bits a chance to dry out,shrink and crack etc... it's best to run the pump gas out than run in a small amount of premixed canned fuel for seasonal storage than come spring you can just pour fresh in over it and you wont have any issues

    • @Coakleyfixedit207
      @Coakleyfixedit207  Před 4 lety +1

      Most of the time they will run with a new carb and just minor fine adjustments are needed MOST of the time I have seen some carbs the weren't set from the factory, I've seen new carbs have the metering levers off from where they should be set but most of the time a factory set carb should run from the get go with small fine adjustments being needed once its warmed up

    Informative video. Few days ago, I purchased used Husqvarna 125 BV and it starts and runs pretty good. When I turn off the choke and full throttle it's pretty powerful. But release the throttle and let it idle, the engine flutters and dies. I tried putting on full choke, half choke, and it won't start. But when I pump the primer again, it starts. Do you think this would need a new carb or just need carb adjustment? Thanks.

For the past two seasons, I have used my 125B until it dies on its own (about 30 min or so) and won't restart until I come back another day to use. This past week, I started her up and about two minutes, died and would not restart at all. I have a new carb (Amazon), and before I start tearing it apart, I want to test the spark.
