My biggest upset about chapter 7 is that there's no actual Ice World like in Paper Mario 64. There's literally only 2 rooms of Ice enemies before Fahr Outpost, and the only other place to fight them is in the pit of a 100 trials. I kinda wish there was more for the Snow World.
@@emburrae1478 What I propose instead is instead of a globe travel trying to find General White, Mario and co has to go to a Fortress east of Fahr Outpost to rescue him. A small diversion that doesn't need to be bigger than Shhwonk Fortress back in Chapter 1. Littered with Snow enemies and perhaps X nauts to slow Mario down as they hold General White hostage. Maybe add a mini boss or something too. Not only would this take care of the comically long backtracking but it'd also give more to do in the ice world of Chapter 7.
I thought the Moon was underwhelming with 6 or 8 Maps being all there was to the Moon outside of the anticlimactic Fortress itself. There should have been more X-nauts encountered & another Boss Fight there. Having a Crump battle similar to Chapter 5 before Magnus Von Grapple may have helped although maybe X-Yux could have been a required boss fight.
I always loved the Poshley Heights Train level. I'm not sure why exactly, I guess it just felt cozy and mysterious. It's the kind of level you want to play in your PJs with an entire cake. :P
chapter 6 is my absolute favorite, but you really only have to talk to the toad outside of the bobomb room then you go back in the room, get your 2 hints, then you can get the autograph. i never talked to anyone else, even on my first run of the chapter, got the who from the toad, and the what from bub.
It’s always great seeing another TTYD fan 😊 I was surprised, your list was pretty similar to mine. I would’ve put CH 6 a bit higher and CH 2 a bit lower, but generally I found myself thinking the same thing for most of your points. Just a little over a month left before the remake releases. So exciting!!! 😁
Honestly in the remake that's coming out I hope they make the enemies not respawn in that forest, or add a pipe you can unlock after getting back there with Vivian and accessing the new area of creepy steeple.
Chapter 3 really illustrates how tone and aesthetic can carry something that would be so bland and boring on paper. Objectively, Glitzville is the smallest area in the entire game and chapter 3 is 90% endless fights. But despite all that, it's so many people's favorite, including mine, because who doesn't love an anime tournament arc?
So one correction that might improve your opinion of Chapter 2: once the timer starts, you do not have to have a single puny with you for the rest of the chapter. You can just leave them in the Crystal Star room. You do not have to take them through the bubble room under a time limit.
Agreed Chapter 7 is underwhelming, instead of the General White chase I would have rather just had more stuff on the Moon. In defense of Grodus not being fought in the fortress you saw him leave with Peach with the plan of having you win & open the door for him. Still there should have been more to the X-naut Fortress like fighting 3 Total Bosses there. Technically there are 2 optional Boss Fights against X-Yux opponents although you should have been required to fight more than just Magnus Von Grapple.
Great video, I can't wait for the Thousand Year Door Remake! It's my favourite game of all time! 🥳 I personally love the Excess Express, but I've had a sweet spot for mysteries since I can imagine 🕵️♂️ Keep it up! 😃
The excess express/poshley heights chapter could be greatly improved with the ol Pajama Sam/Spy Fox/Funimation treatment. There could be 3 versions of the mystery with different clues and routes that are randomly selected (or based on a choice you make when you enter the train, like your meal selection). You can pick a different one each time or speedrunners could find the fastest route and it wouldn't be the same boring task every time.
I like how you mentioned that the bosses of the first 6 chapters are interesting. the first 4 chapter bosses are doing their own thing, like hooktail in chapter 1 or grubba in chapter 3, paper mario ttyd could have improved on some things like cutting the bowser chapters because they feel like filler that has no relevance on the story, grotus being the boss of chapter 7 instead of crump, make beldam the one who awakens the shadow queen instead, have beldam slip away by having mario and co fight gloomtail to get to the shadow queens temple. Lord crumps story should have ended after chapter 5. General white should have been cut along with the backtracking in twilight town.
Gonna be honest, when I saw the thumbnail, I thought, "There's Mario, and Koops, and Vivian, but who's that person with the purple hair? I don't remember THAT companion!"
Awesome ranking! Mine are: Prologue- Good intro, least fun action Chapter 1- Its the most basic, and its a chapter 1. Though meeting Ms Mowz for the first time and Hooktail were some great moments Chapter 5- love cortez and pirates grotto, as well as the pirate standoff.. that was pure gold.... just the beginning part with flavio was ughhhh Chapter 7- Similar backtracking problem.. arguably the worst. Though the x naut base has one of the best songs in the game and the fortress makes up for general white Chapter 6- Used to be my favorite, but once the mystery was solved it kind of ruins it... at least like you said the atmosphere is peaceful and the boss is good Chapter 2- i know a LOT of people hate this chapter because of punies, because of Flurrie. But i think flurrie is a great partner, and i didnt mind the pikmin ordeal, the atmosphere of both Boogly woods and the tree are beautiful, and it has great bosses with The Shadow Sirens WHO SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE CHAPTER BOSSES AND OKAY I GUESS MAGNUS VON GRAPPLE AS THE MINIBOSS! I mean come on! Their dynamic in Chapter 2 was far more interesting than anything we got of crump... so they should have had higher HP and been the chapter bosses, and then it would have built perfectly off of hooktail. Thats my one gripe Chapter 4- Backtracking aside.... my god the area is beautiful. The fake ending was a very cool plot-twist first time and we get the best partner ever on our side :) and in typical paper mario fashion,,, great boss. Chapter 3- Woah!! Its not my favorite?? Its nearly everyones! Well, it is a great chapter... one of the best and i adore everything about it. Unlike the mystery of chapter 6, this one diesnt grow stale as the segments between the fights are well paced and provide better sneaking around, plus glitzville is a very confined space so slowly seeing it unravel is priceless through and through, and given Jolene's role it really is a good one. Chapter 8 is my favorite because the asthetic is at its all time best in my opinion. The decor is right up my alley, and the outside riddle tower is such a beautiful area (not saying the rest of the game isnt, but woww) And while yes its just a long path to the end... it has a lot of tough enemies to gain good experience, as well as what i consisder some of the best bosses in the game, especially the shadow queen... :) Its such a good game and i cannot wait for the remake
TTYD on Switch is just a remaster, not a remake. It's not a remake unless the game is actually made again. It's clear Nintendo is just updating the old code to look better and not building it from the ground up.
Chapter 2 was my least favorite. I like the woods but the tree not as much. Flurrie was my least favorite partner, and Magnum Dong Fapple is my least favorite boss. Still dont mind it when i re play through though. My favorite game of all time

LOL "Crump Supporters" made me chuckle.
Spookydood jumpscare
At the end of chapter 2, you can abandon the punies and they still survive. That saves a lot of time.
Oh! That was something I didn't know! Thanks for the tip!
I was gonna say that! Hahahaha!
Lol I was going to say that too.
Yeah I was pretty bummed there wasn't an ice world, easily one of the biggest missed opportunities in this game.

@@emburrae1478 it feels like the wait for paper Mario and the thousand year door is less painful than the princess peach showtime .

Thank you for talking about the game before the remake’s release, hopefully it will sell well 🙏
I hope it does too!
So freaking excited for the remake!! One of my favorite games for sure
I replayed this game so many times as a kid. I of course will be buying the switch remaster and playing it once again.
It’s always great seeing another TTYD fan 😊

I know right?! I am so so excited!!!
Yeah, if this list was around back in 2016, I definetly would've flipped Chap 6 and Chap 2.
Good ranking.
Wow, Chapter 7 is really called Mario Shoots the Moon? Surprised we never saw any edgy memes about Gun Mario shooting the moon.
Great video!
I agree with you when you said Grodus is very weak, and disappointing. I hope the remake make him slightly harder.
Honestly in the remake that's coming out I hope they make the enemies not respawn in that forest, or add a pipe you can unlock after getting back there with Vivian and accessing the new area of creepy steeple.

Can you do a ranking of the chapters from super paper mario and the origami king next pls

I personally love the Excess Express, but I've had a sweet spot for mysteries since I can imagine 🕵️♂️
Keep it up! 😃
I also have a soft spot for mysteries too! They're fun to solve!

Interesting ranking good video:)
Even though for a lot of this list, my opinions vary a lot, we both agree that chapter 3 is the best one 😄
You don’t have to bring any of the punies with you when escaping at the end of chapter two you can just run straight to the start of the tree
Gonna be honest, when I saw the thumbnail, I thought, "There's Mario, and Koops, and Vivian, but who's that person with the purple hair? I don't remember THAT companion!"
I'm nearly 30 but the kid in me can't wait to play the remake!! ❤
Aight imma rank em before watching in order from worst to best imo: 2,4,5,7,1,6,8, and 3

Just happy to see twilight town high up, but I more or less agree with your rankings.
Personally, I would say chapter 2 is my least favorite chapter. I just really hate all the stuff with the punies.
Did you rank the partners, or are you planning on doing that later?
Planning on doing that in a later video most likely in May. Depends on the schedule.
I also liked The Great Tree theme, when I heard it the first 5 times. Now it's very annoying because it plays too much!
Personally I picture Rawk Hawk sounding more like Hulk Hogan or Macho Man
It sounds like im listening to chi chi from dbz narrate a mario video 😅 sound similar sometimes, agreed on video. Good job 👏
Everyone puts chapter 6 at the bottom…. Its always been my favorite 😢

You dont have to bring the punies to the top of the tree during the timed section.
