Hey there. Thanks for the great content. As a constructive criticism, I would like to point out that the video subtitles are way too slow. I had to watch the video in 2X just to get through it. Can't complain about any other stuff. Keep up the great work. Cheers!

So Nelson was always against the line by line technique. Originally he used the anchor cover technique, but then he decided to just charge the enemy line perpendicularly. What a lad

Quite a lot of the Danish ships were gun barges, towed into position and immobile and not ships of the line, their low height actually proved to give them an advantage, as they were hard to target for the Royal Navy ships, but their open decks made their crews horribly vulnerable to grapeshot.
Battle was a real slugging match, I guess the Danes had few other options at the time than to dig in and fight to their ability, even if it gave the initiative to the British, something that a commander of Nelsons capacity absolutely knew how to take advantage of.

My name is Victor Graciet's brother and this is my opinion about this nice video.Thank you very much to let us see it.I love it!!!But there is something very romantic in all this operation.I respect all of you...just like me in the past,I was very very much in love for this caen of storys...like today. The great diferente from today to those long gonne old days, it is my"know how"I observed everything and every moves from those virtual ships.Acording to everyone academic naval arte of war...those moves are Essentials to all navy officers...but never like we observed.Special when you are using the win has buster, has energy to make your vessel going just on,full speed ahad.To shut down my opinion, when the first war ship of the line cover the secund the secund one to passing by to do the same to the thirt one ...by the time number 4 try it the same move, other ships where be on flames.Becouse the nature of those boats are,or was mad to open fiyer and has we remmember, they was to much closed ...One...to another ...do not ever forget it.There is one more danger point of my observation: that is not good for no one at maritime life,to attak other navy forces making those manouvers. So,for romantic guys like me...I love to write fictional storys about someone like Nelson very very much in a hurry and no time to kiss kiss goodbye or,good is your bye bye.
Well,I hope you are all ok,has all time...a big Kiss for the girles and a gigant hug for you guys.

This video really lacks any Danish sources or wievpoints ( I assume its a language problem). First the high number of sunk Danish vessels reflects the British burning them AFTER the battle. Second the British didnt win the battle, since the main Danish battleline hadnt even been engaged (the forts, the gunboats and the harbour defenses)- the battle ended in something like a draw. Third, the ONLY reason the Danes fought in the first place, was because we were scared of the Russians- the arhcitects of the "alliance"- At the time Denmark were NOT allied with France, nor were Denmark in any way anti- British. In short the armed neutrality alliance, was a strange coalition of old enemies, and Denmark were only too happy for an opportunity to break out of it... but if they did, Russia might support a Swedish attack on Norway. So Denmark had to fight to please the Russians, but they didnt have to WIN, just show a will to resist. Sir Hyde Parker had a much more keen understanding of all of this, and so looked for any opportunity for a peacefull solution, but Nelson was much too bloodthirsty for that. His whole battleplan was actually quite stupid. If the wind had changed at any time during the battle, he would have been in deep trouble. If the battle had continued, he would have to sail his entire battered squadron straight past the main fortress (in shallow waters he didnt know) AND Parker would be unable to help him... and if the wind had slacked, the Danes would have send in their gunboats (that isnt even mentioned in the video), and being galleys they would have destroyed Nelson. Nelson very cleverly offered peacetalks at exactly the right moment for both himself and the Danes. And if they had waited 2 weeks, the whole thing would have been called off, since the Zar was assasinated.
Sources for this may be found at "Orlogsmuseet" in Denmark.
Note: The gunboats were a form of small galleys, or rowboats with a single heavy cannon. The excelled in shallow waters, and calm weather, but couldnt engage a large ship like a frigate, if the frigate could navigate freely.
Note: The controversy of Danish ships firing after the colors was struck, is explained by the fact that the Danish ships receved fresh crews from ashore during the battle- the colors was never struck but simply shot down. Some of the Danish ships actually rested at the bottom, while still fighting. Some stood so low, that the British ships couldnt hit them, but kept firing over their heads! Oh, and most these ships couldnt even be called ships, they were more like floating battle platforms, build of old hulks and prams.
Correction: Orlogsmuseet has been moved to the former "Tøjhusmuseet", which in turn has changed its name to "krigsmuseet". Further documentation (in Danish) is available for free at the public library at Copenhagen.

There are some good points, but I don´t get the critique of Nelson´s plan. Since the Danish ships were in narrow strip between land and shoal, no matter how he would approach them he would still be vulnerable to changing wind. And if he needed to sail to the city he would have no choice than to go past the battery regardless on the tactics involved. All of these risks were practicaly unavoidable.
And the 3 Danish ships were all sunk during the battle. I haven´t found anything about British actually burning some captured ships after it.

@@baronvonbrunn8596 its because the ships were anchored, if the wind had changed nelsons ships were at risk of running aground. thats the short explanation. The danish "ships" where not meant to be used for war, so they had no mast, and were basically just platforms, the newer danish fleet was in the shipyard, and one ship was not yet done, Prins Christian Frederik ship of the line, a battleship like noother, were being built in Oslo at the time. Willemoes who commanded one of the main battery ships, were later in 1808 to command that ship, though Commander Carl Jessen was leading the battle in march that year where 4 british ships snuck up on it and forced it up north through the great belt, and at zealand point, it was finally cornered and shot to pieces, the ships of this generation were very scary for the british fleet, they were superior in many ways, and since Denmark in the meantime had allied themselves with Napoleonic France, the British wanted that fleet, and especially Prins Christian Frederik destroyed, so they set fire to it and had it explode. Before bombing Copenhagen in a blaze that today would have been counted as a war crime. Regardless, The Danish Fleet was quite capable and rivalled that of the British and the French, which is why they absolutely could not tolerate (the british that is) that Denmark had ships like this that would pose a threat against the english empire should they join the french on the water. This was all quite stupid iin the first place because Denmark backing france, meant sweeden could strip denmark of Norway in the peace treaty, and Norway then broke away from sweeden where they elected them selves independent in 1814
