  • Hello and welcome to another video from your friends at The Holo Herald. Today we look at the Microsoft HoloLens one year after we bought it. Believe us, it has changed a lot since when we first got it and who doesn't like looking back. We have loved every second of owning this device. We love watching the technology continuing to get better. We loved watching how developers continued to improve their apps and push this technology to the new frontier. We hope you enjoy the video and we are looking forward to following this technology for many years to come!
    Thanks for watching!!

    Hard to believe the device has been around for a year already

    Same with us we literally made our hololens a monster of a machine, hacking it to support more gestures, apps, eye tracking. And it holds up really well plus the processor is actually now faster than when it first came in, for some reason.
    But do you have that weird glitch on the right display that kinda blacks out? We wasted 1000 dollars on a customized projector system just for fixing this.

      I can give you a few headbands free of charge (pay the shipping im in China) USB port you can fix it but its risky you have to tear the bottom half down and glue it down

    Great one year!
    The weight distribution and hand gestures need the most improvement;")

    I think the headphones would be great for a version of a glass cockpit

    Just a suggestion: put your camera on manual instead of auto focus and focus on you before shooting so you don't keep going in and out of focus.

    I haven't seen any of your other videos but...does Hololens run windows 10? Can you run regular PC apps on it like web browsing or is it just dedicated for these 3d apps?

    • @vital1ty548
      @vital1ty548 Před 6 lety

      CTHMusic93 I've read somewhere that it does run Windows 10 but it doesn't look like it, try and check out different videos and the comments to find out.

      @TheHoloHerald  Před 6 lety

      A special versions of windows 10 if that makes sense, yeah you can run almost any windows app on it but its like opening it up on a monitor they aren't ''3d'

    Will you guys be reviewing the new Windows Mixed Reality headsets? I'm considering getting one but I haven't seen many reviews other than someone complaining about the Fall Creators update didn't install properly. Thanks

      I look forward to them, they'll be very useful when deciding about the headsets. :-)

  • @JamesGamesGamers_Unite

    Is the hololens limited in view like everyone says, or does it have not a limited view?

    • @TheHoloHerald
      @TheHoloHerald  Před 6 lety

      Its definitely noticeable but after about 10 minutes of using it you forget about it, everyone is just whiney tbh

    • @JamesGamesGamers_Unite
      @JamesGamesGamers_Unite Před 6 lety

      did you spend 5k USD on a hololens, bc if not then I don’t believe you, and the price and the limited field of view were the main thing people were complaining about, which is why I hope they fixed both of those problems completely if not then they suck. And I don’t think you spent any money on it bc if you did you would be pissed, and agree with me, and if I were to spend over 100 USD on something it better be a finished product. Unlike you, I know Microsoft is a good company but they screwed up, and everyone called them out on it.

    • @TheHoloHerald
      @TheHoloHerald  Před 6 lety

      Yeah, we spent 3k on the dev edition like everyone else, I think you need to do a little more research before getting all up in arms dude, have you tried one? We've tried every MR headset on the market in the past 2 years and even ones with massive FOV such as the Meta 2 then realizing that FOV is such small potatoes when it comes to other problems MR has to tackle.

      @Gintch Před 6 lety

      yeah but you have to hold your phone up and its totaly different you actually see 3d with the hololens instead of lookin through a screen if you dont do recearch dont FUCKING COMMENT

  • @Chitown388
    @Chitown388 Před 5 lety

    So bulky! Comparing the HoloLens to the latest crops of AR glasses, including the one from Intel, is like comparing a 30lb 1980 PC to the Apple MacBook Air. The HoloLens is like wearing a computer on your head. Who is going to walk around with that contraption? MS should of just make the glasses the display unit and the computer is a unit that can be in the pocket.
